Bear School Astartes

”No, no, no!”

A thief with a seemingly timid disposition stood on the outermost edge of the battlefield.

As the blood in the center of the field grew more plentiful and the smell intensified, the fear within him could no longer be contained.

His pupils trembled, his feet hesitated on the ground, then turned abruptly to flee in the direction away from the port.

However, escaping from this battlefield was futile.

”Boom, boom, boom...”

The heavy and urgent footsteps sounded like a bass drum being beaten!

Like a predator attracted by his sudden escape, the footsteps, full of oppression, seemed to strike directly at the heart, closing in on him swiftly!

The sound of the footsteps crossed the crowd in less than a second, and with their advance, the thief’s fear became increasingly uncontrollable.

”Stay away!”

When he shouted, he was almost on the verge of tears, and the bronze short sword in his hand, under hysteria pressed by fear, swung wildly behind him.

”I just want to leave! I quit! I...”

Before he could finish his hysterical cries,

”Bang! Splurt!”

A large hand fitted with hard armor plate gloves easily caught the wildly swinging bronze short sword between its fingers.

Then it directly pressed towards the thief’s head!

The fleeing thief’s head was pressed against the wall of the port building, and the earth-plastered wall was smashed into a human-sized round pit with a loud bang.

The bronze short sword caught between the fingers was pressed directly into the thief’s face, freezing his expression into a bizarre look.

Fear, regret, panic...

This kind of face is common among various unnatural death corpses.

He had followed the one-eyed people of Cephalonia in life, staining others with blood on this island, but in the end... his expression was no different from those ordinary people.

The wall hit into a large pit shook out a large cloud of flying dust.

The thief’s corpse was floppily pinned against the wall by Lann, leaving only his legs reflexively twitching.

Before the dust could settle, the motion of the arm stirred it up again.

The hand that was previously holding the head against the wall shifted to the side, and the steel armor plate on the back of the hand skillfully blocked a blow from a bronze short sword.

With the collision of metals, a dazzling circular spark exploded at the point of contact.

”Clang!”

The collision caused by extraordinary technique emitted an uncharacteristically crisp sound.

The sword and shield soldier who slashed at Lann with his sword felt as if his bronze short sword had hit a spring, causing his body to uncontrollably lean backward.

The large round shield capable of covering most of his body was useless in this posture.

In the midst of the dust, the hulking figure moved at a speed much faster than a normal human!

A large hand pressed against the sword and shield soldier’s shoulder, while the other hand’s Lady of the Lake’s Sword pierced into the exposed throat with a ”splurt” sound.

Although for Aron Dite’s sharp blade, linen armor or bronze armor were negligible, Lann’s swordsmanship style was accustomed to targeting weak points.

The blade’s rapidly flowing Air Blade, when pulled out from the throat, brought out a large amount of blood.

An extraordinary amount of blood flow added to the terrifying aura surrounding Lann.

In comparison, Cassandra, while equally efficient, could at least let them die ’peacefully.’

Cassandra’s usual combat style was a blend of ’precision’ and ferocity.

She craved glorious and challenging battles, and in combat, she seemed to effortlessly predict the next moves of surrounding enemies, thereby performing adeptly and with precision.

Lann had observed more than once that this woman was fully prepared before the enemy made their corresponding moves.

An attack capable of reaching her would be rendered ineffective by her adept movement, positioning herself at a safe distance.

And if trapped in place, she would use the broken spear or short sword in her hand to perfectly deflect incoming attacks.

This was indisputably a superhuman combat technique because Lann was quite sure that many of these attacks should have been invisible to Cassandra in her field of view.

”Her extraordinary response ability seems quite similar to my combat calculations, sir.”

Mentos conversed with Lann within his mind.

”It doesn’t seem like a combat style relying on extraordinary senses with the brain making decisions based on experience. I suspect she might have a powerful external computing device aiding her calculations.”

The Demon Hunter grabbed a thief by the neck with one hand, using him as a shield against the slashes and thrusts of several others, showing a look of surprise.

”An external computing device? For combat calculations... are you saying Cassandra has a military supercomputer on her?”

He swept the nearby woman with those cat-like eyes.

The Ancient Greece-style armor and clothing couldn’t hide much, especially not from the Demon Hunter’s senses and [Spirit Sight].

”Hmm, nice figure. The only thing suspicious on her is that broken spear, but...”

Lann’s expression was indescribably odd.

”A supercomputer disguised as a spear? What kind of technological path is this?”

Is this how local supernatural forces operate?

The path is quite wild indeed...

Just then, Cassandra raised her bronze short sword once more, parrying an attack amid flying sparks.

Lann keenly noticed that the sword in her hand was on the brink of collapse.

The bronze was not hard enough; maintaining its basic sword shape after so many collisions was already a testament to Cassandra’s skill, preventing it from bearing more pressure.

But even so, weapon destruction in unavoidable collisions was irreversible.

Observing Cassandra, it seemed she was prepared, ready to grab from the enemy’s hand once her sword could no longer hold.

However, Lann then thought of the loot he’d obtained from An You.

Thus, the Demon Hunter reached into his Alchemy Pouch at his lower back in a spare moment.

When he brought his hand out again, he retrieved a curved saber with a golden handle, its blade gleaming with oil.

Lann lightly brushed the steel armor plate on the back of his hand against the blade, a spark immediately igniting the entire blade’s oil.

This action startled the thieves who had hesitated to advance.

Yet in Lann’s hand, the knife appeared small, and the thin layer of flames exerted little deterrent power.

”Hey, Cassandra! Got a little gift for you!”

After this simple call, Lann tossed the flaming curved saber towards Cassandra.

The blazing blade spun through the air, forming a fiery wheel.

Cassandra’s bronze short sword clashed with another’s once more, leaving only a short fragment with a crisp crack.

Yet she, as if having eyes on the back of her head, confidently released the short sword in her hand and snatched into the empty air behind her without looking back.

”Boom!!!”

She skillfully seized the only grip point in the spinning fiery wheel, the golden hilt. Then, the blade’s once thin layer of flame erupted as if doused in a bucket of fire oil! The blaze expanded explosively!

This thing in Lann’s hand was a regular-powered lighter, an alcohol lamp in An You’s, but in Cassandra’s hand, it transformed straight into a gas stove!

”Wow!”

Cassandra laughed in delight and winked at Lann.

”I love surprises!”
