Bear School Astartes

Mentos isn’t just bragging, though its current tone sounds like it. However, according to the Human Union’s educational act, it can’t report to its main body recklessly.

Currently, the computing power of Mentos has indeed seen a significant improvement.

This has been greatly reflected in its analysis and organization of interstellar warrior surgical knowledge.

The knowledge from the Primaris Marine has been swiftly arranged and digested, improving efficiency by more than fifty percent.

As for the Memory Deep Dive project, Mentos can now barely manage a range-based selection.

In the long memory spanning over ten thousand years contained in the genetic seed, it can now filter out most of the repetitive training and daily routines, greatly increasing the probability of acquiring useful knowledge and memories.

Lann is still adapting to this change.

The learning device from the Human Union is a bio-product that can accompany a Human Union citizen from birth to death. It’s akin to a human organ.

And when a human organ suddenly undergoes performance enhancements, it always takes time to adapt and explore.

It’s no longer as urgent as when Lann first arrived in this world; he has time to gradually adjust.

”Oh, you’re here.”

Belengar looked up, gazing at Lann standing in front of the furnace.

”Eager to change into ’new clothes,’ right?”

The old Demon Hunter clamped the glowing sword blank with tongs and plunged it into the quenching tank with a hiss. After precisely measuring the temperature change, he timely removed the sword blank, tried the quenched sword’s hardness with a file, and then nodded in satisfaction.

Only then did he place the sword blank on the anvil, take off his leather gloves and apron, and gesture to Lann to follow him.

This workshop gathered many blacksmiths; it was not designed with private restrooms when built, only a public rest area.

However, artisans often differentiate based on their skills.

Naturally, the grandmasters with the highest skills acquired private rooms.

Belengar was leading Lann to his infrequently visited private room.

”Every warrior can’t wait to get new weapons and armor.”

As Lann walked, he chatted idly with Belengar.

”Of course, of course, I was once a Demon Hunter; I can understand.”

The old Demon Hunter pushed open the door, inviting Lann inside with a gesture.

”Please come and check the goods, Warrior.”

Once inside, there was a stand for displaying armor.

And on that stand was a set of armor that looked heavy and robust.

The basic structure still followed the Bear School’s equipment tradition, but the Grandmaster-level equipment employed larger areas of plate metal and chainmail protection.

This was only an increase in appearance; within the composite structure, the armor plates would function in a tighter, more reliable form.

And at the collar, where the Bear School equipment used a scarf, the Grandmaster-level armor employed a piece of bear fur treated with alchemical techniques.

It looked mighty and rugged.

As Shilton said, the Dwarf Tribe in the Amel Mountains excelled in leather and fur craftsmanship.

This was perfectly reflected in their designed equipment.

”All steel accessories are made of Valerian steel, including all plate pieces, chainmail rings, and metal buckles.”

The blacksmith stood beside the display stand, introducing the armor to its owner one by one.

”The leather is tanned dragon leather, whose toughness and magic conductivity are critical for connecting this set of equipment.”

”Steel and leather are engraved with a systematic array of magic runes. It is these runes that will redirect and collect the fragmented Quen Rune magic power and then re-release it in the form of the Quen Rune. However, due to the efficiency of magic power recovery, the dwarves note in the schematics a fifty percent chance to reutilize the Quen Rune.”

”How’s my craftsmanship?”

Belengar patted the armor on the stand, making the armor plates clatter. He somewhat proudly displayed it to Lann.

”Phew~ as usual, great craftsmanship.”

Lann whistled and straightforwardly stepped forward to start changing.

Having a fine piece of armor in front of him was simply irresistible.

Belengar helped on the side, and the armor was put on in no time.

”Clack clack...”

After putting on the Grandmaster-level armor, Lann opened and closed his palm, the armor pieces on the back of his hand making sounds.

The tension of the leather and the constraint of the steel instead gave a sense of accumulating power.

”The defense is strong; even without considering the Quen Rune’s enhancements, the physical defense alone is many times stronger than advanced equipment!”

This result was briefly calculated by Mentos.

Belengar was well aware of this massive gap: ”That’s normal; even the strength of the materials is worlds apart.”

The original advanced Bear School suit used tanned monster leather for the leather parts.

Whereas dragon creature leather was the finest of monster leather products.

Not to mention the superiority of Valerian steel.

The normal version of the Grandmaster suit would use Refined Anti-Demon Gold and steel ingots mixed with monster materials. But purely in terms of strength, these were inferior to Valerian steel.

However, at the same time...

”Even using Valerian steel, this equipment weighs at least fifty kilograms!”

Lann looked somewhat surprised.

”Valerian steel is light, but Grandmaster-level equipment was never meant for ordinary Demon Hunters. If you don’t have the capability to bear the weight, then it’s just eye candy.”

At this moment, Ged’s voice came from beside him.

Lann turned to look and saw the guy looking at his armor with eyes about to light up.

”When did you arrive?”

”During your changing, but that’s not important; the Grandmaster armor is just too amazing!”

Ged said, unable to stop himself from reaching out to touch the armor on Lann.

”What that Dwarf Elder said is right; this armor could motivate a coward to fight a dragon!”

Lann pursed his lips and swatted Ged’s hand away: ”Yeah, and then that coward will just charge ahead headfirst, raise his sword, exhaust himself before approaching, and end up being turned into a torch with one breath.”

Ged awkwardly withdrew his hand.

”Hey, you can’t blame me! This armor is indeed too beautiful! Looking at it, I feel other armors are unappealing!”

Belengar stood aside, his squinty eyes indicating he was very much enjoying Ged’s flattery and wanted him to ramp up the efforts.

”Then surely, you wouldn’t mind my set of advanced armor that I took off, Mr. Ged?”

Lann smiled, and with one sentence, brought Ged back to unprecedented clarity.

His eyes were clear and sincere, as if the Grandmaster equipment before him was fleeting as smoke.

”No! I just recalled that the Grandmaster level is still too unrealistic for me. It has to be the advanced suit! That’s what I’m suited for in this life!”
