Bear School Astartes

Chapter 434: 434.【Heartless Flow: Shrink Ground】

Sharma’s ground-pounding attack, that ’explosive band’ is already equivalent to a kind of magic!

This is the result of creatures adapting to chaos magic power during their growth.

And if we talk about sheer combat power, these monsters could probably tear apart most of the warlocks in this world one-on-one.

Resilient bodies, savage wildness, experience killing in natural environments, with a type of magic so ingrained it’s almost like instinct...

Much stronger than those wizards who’ve never faced head-on combat in their entire lives.

Ged’s teeth were clenched tight with tension.

But soon, this predicament of facing destructive magic seemed to awaken a ferocity within him.

He lowered his center of gravity, hunching his body like a cheetah ready to spring forward.

He was too close to Sharma, evading backward or sideways was no longer realistic.

He had to charge forward!

Taking advantage of the moment before the beetle’s forelimbs slammed down and the magic activated, he would rush to get under its crotch!

Although this would mean slipping past those stone-carapaced forelimbs smashing down like sledgehammers, and even the slightest mistake could get him killed without magic.

Sharma’s smash, just the physical impact alone, must have a few tons of force.

But there was no other way, this was his only chance...

”Huh?!”

A figure taller than Ged brushed past him, grabbing his shoulder just as he was about to charge forward in Ged’s astonished gaze.

This pull disrupted Ged’s charging preparation, and the delay caused him to lose even the last chance of struggle.

Sharma’s stone-shell-armored forelimbs were unhesitatingly crashing down during this wasted moment!

Then everything seemed like a repeat of moments ago, the descending force mixed with the chaos magic within the monster, this supernatural power turning the originally ordinary physical impact into a violent ’explosive band’!

It exploded towards the two demon hunters with a ’boom’!

Not to mention human bodies, even smaller siege engines would likely fall apart in the face of this attack!

But in front of that ’explosive band’, two pairs of cat eyes, mutated and faintly glowing, held completely different emotions.

Ged was panicking, a biological response inevitable in the face of impending death.

But in Lann’s eyes, there was a sense of... void insight.

[Spirit Vision]!

The world in his eyes changed in an instant.

The dim vision provided by the [Cat Eye] magic potion hadn’t faded. And with the enhancement of [Spirit Vision], he could see things the naked eye, and even a warlock’s magic, couldn’t perceive.

For example, the specific flow of chaos magic power.

The Lady of the Lake’s Sword hanging limply at his side now resembled a gentle light like lake water.

The internal power of the longsword responded upon being ’observed’.

The intricate pattern on the blade began to glow with a golden light.

”Swoosh!”

With the sound of cutting through the air, the glowing longsword traced a bright fan-shaped trajectory in the air.

The edge of the fan-shaped trajectory sliced right in front of Sharma’s ’explosive band’!

In Ged’s eyes filled with disbelief.

The ’boom’ of the explosive attack-path seemed truly severed by the afterimage of the blade’s light.

The ’explosive band’, compressed to a man’s width by chaos magic, was entirely disrupted before that streak of sword light!

The force that could shatter rocks and bricks and throw them meters high, dissipated along the fan-shaped path.

Devoid of its extraordinary power, the impact felt no stronger than a few fast horses rushing past!

”Screech?!”

Faced with this situation, even the brainless Sharma seemed utterly bewildered.

And as for Ged... what person has ever seen magic being cut by a longsword?!

And the only person present not dumbfounded, after blocking Sharma’s magic with Aron Dite, re-sheathed the longsword smoothly.

And reached back towards the alchemy pouch at his waist...

”Hiss~”

The not-so-sharp blade of the Turbulent Flow Greatsword scratched against the leather opening of the alchemy pouch made from petrified lizard skin, emitting a mildly sinister, nerve-wracking whine as it was drawn.

Ged, from behind Lann, was not just shocked rigid; he now questioned if he had been trapped in an illusion.

From a palm-sized pouch, a sword-like... block of iron was drawn?!

Am I insane? Or had I actually died some moments ago?

The demon hunter, who was worried about acquiring a set of advanced school armor, was naturally unaware of the cutting-edge technology developed in the Magic Academy.

Lann didn’t have time to explain to his fellow school’s senior right then.

As he drew the Turbulent Flow Greatsword from the alchemy pouch, his hand inadvertently sliced open, letting blood drip onto another item in the pouch.

After the blood dripped, spiral currents began wrapping around his legs.

These currents caused ripples in the water beneath his feet.

Finally, when Lann placed that absurdly large and long greatsword in front of him in Ged’s eyes, making a thrusting stance, his body also lowered its center of gravity, like a bow drawn taut...

In front of him, debris blasted away by Sharma hung momentarily in the air before falling.

The enormous sword over 1.9 meters in length was poised in front of him. Lann’s stance now resembled a knight brandishing a lance!

The boots layered with armor plate endured increasing pressure, and the sturdy tanned leather began to warp slightly from the force exerted by his feet!

Another surge accompanied the acceleration spell from Yan’an, fused with the swordsmanship and ninja steps from inside Iwami Country, intertwining with the martial philosophy lineage of Iwami Yixin’s life.

This breakthrough was Lann’s first achievement upon receiving the final bequest of the Iwami Sword Saint—

[Heartless Flow: Shrink Ground]!

If the basic [Acceleration Spell] allows the user to appear as a wisp of smoke during explosive movement,

Then the footwork pushed by Lann to the [Heartless Flow] level wraps that wisp of smoke into a gale.

Lann’s swift movement cut a channel through the water only ankle deep.

Sharma, whose forelimbs had just landed moments ago, hadn’t even managed to re-raise its waist when the palm-width Valerian Giant Sword ’crashed’ into Sharma’s shoulder with its not too sharp point!

”Clang!”

The immense momentum forcefully crushed the stone shell covering Sharma’s body with the steel blade!

Then pierced into its relatively softer body, vital organs...

”Screech!”

The monster uttered a sharp, agonized wail.

The broad Turbulent Flow, driven by the impact force of [Heartless Flow: Shrink Ground], penetrated deep over fifty centimeters! The sword tip broke through flesh and emerged from the rear, forcing Sharma’s stone shell away from its body!

It looked like a thick scab being ripped open.

”Tear~”

The Turbulent Flow Greatsword was withdrawn from the monster’s body, accompanied by an outburst of blood squirting from the wound.

After this thrust, Lann’s palm was somewhat numbed by the counterforce.

With a thud, the creature weighing seven or eight tons, with a base strength of at least several tons, slumped weakly into the ankle-deep water.

In a battle, basic capabilities do matter, but the true outcome hinges on the synthesis of technique, mentality, experience, and luck.

If pure strength and speed were all that mattered, demon hunters might simply give up when confronting griffons or Vampire Beldams.

The stab through the shoulder blade must have already destroyed critical organs inside Sharma.

Lann stepped on the stone shell along its body to reach its back.

Sharma’s responses were extremely weak.

The Turbulent Flow was inverted by Lann, its blade aimed at the monster’s head beneath him.
