Bear School Astartes

Chapter 406: 406. Armor Upgrade

”Well then, should I address you as the ’Great Dictator of Airetusa’ now, esteemed Ms. Lux Andelie?”

On the other side of the headmistress’s desk, the Demon Hunter sat relaxed in his chair, sending a teasing laugh towards the main seat of the desk.

Margaret listened expressionlessly, as a hefty tome floated into the air beside her hand and sailed towards Lann’s handsome smile.

But halfway through, the Demon Hunter easily caught it in his hand.

”Oh ho, ’Academy Management Rules and Notices’... are you telling me you’re only starting to catch up now?”

The magic throw was indeed quite fast; an ordinary person probably wouldn’t have reacted before it smacked them in the face.

But unfortunately, Lann had the dynamic sight and reflexes to catch a Tree Spirit Arrow mid-air.

So this kind of female warlock-style punishment between Margaret and Lann was just a harmless amusement.

”Tishaya has been the headmistress of the Academy for centuries. With her departure, I suppose anyone would be unaccustomed.”

Margaret sighed disinterestedly, propping her cheek with her wrist in the chair.

”But, you’ll do excellently as well, without a doubt.” Lann spoke sincerely, setting aside his flippant attitude.

”You’re a headmistress who entered the Velen Swamp on your own to investigate a missing student. There are very few teachers in this world who care more for their students than you do.”

”And then, this ’headmistress who cares about her students’ got taken down by a bunch of ordinary criminals.”

Margaret pouted, her white teeth biting her full, fiery red lips into an enticing shape.

”Ugh...” Lann was at a loss for words, ”It’s all about attitude! Attitude has nothing to do with ability!”

Mentos set off fireworks on his retina, with slogans forming: Keyword capture successful!

In most cases, women value attitude more than facts.

Sure enough, Margaret’s expression brightened suddenly, like a flamboyant rose in full bloom.

Her large, bright eyes fixated on the young man’s face, while her body slowly pushed the chair back step by step and squatted down into the space created.

In this process, the scant fabric of her evening gown revealed much of the female warlock’s well-maintained figure in a subtle yet tempting posture.

Lann felt something was wrong.

”Uh... what are you up to?”

The young man unconsciously leaned back against the chair, looking somewhat cringed.

In the second before Margaret’s eyes submerged below the desk, those doe-like enchanting eyes still locked onto the young man.

That gaze was like a predator’s.

”Your comfort made me feel so warm, dear. And... I’ve been hungry for a long time.”

Lann felt his throat dry so he swallowed: ”Gulp - do I need to remind you? This is the headmistress’s office.”

The female warlock had completely hidden herself under the desk, but even with that muffled sound barrier, her voice couldn’t cover its allure.

”This is, the headmistress’s office, ’just for the two of us’.”

”Hiss!”

Lann, caught off guard, suddenly gripped the armrests of his chair.

-----------------

”I think Tishaya really left too early.”

The disheveled young man lay back in his chair, speechless.

”She should have at least seen what you look like after officially taking over before leaving.”

”Don’t act like I forced you. Among female warlocks, I’m already on the very conservative side!”

The strong woman, the current headmistress of Airetusa, one of the most powerful female warlocks in the world. Margaret had a look of serenity as she levitated a bank deposit slip, handing it to the ragged young man.

This scene was like a big brother in a gangster movie casually tossing a check to the girl he spent the night with.

The young man reached out to take it, looking it over before his eyes.

Twelve thousand Oren Coins!

And with that, all exhaustion and panic vanished like morning dew, leaving no trace.

”It’s not a large amount, but it’s about what was expected.”

Just like a business magnate, Margaret said nonchalantly to the Demon Hunter.

”The Valerian steel business has just started out, although the promotion was well done, there are only so many people who can buy it; our output volume is only this much at present. Four months, a net profit of a hundred thousand is not bad for the initial stage.”

”Hmm.” The Demon Hunter put the Giancardi Bank deposit slip into the alchemy pouch. ”But when you say ’not bad’, could you at least put away the smile?”

A hundred thousand Oren, if the costs were controlled well, could be enough to build a castle!

And this was just the four-month starting phase of the Valerian steel business.

This excellent performance and relatively affordable steel had already started making waves in the international market.

Even for Airetusa, this was an income stream that couldn’t be overlooked.

As the headmistress, Margaret had already contributed greatly to the Academy even before formally taking charge.

This had greatly boosted her prestige within the Academy.

Margaret wasn’t much interested in fighting for power and profit, but who wouldn’t welcome the respectful gazes and whispered praises of students?

Truth be told, with her personality, if there were a female warlock bragging group, she would have joined it without hesitation.

”By the way, I still need a favor.”

”What is it?”

Margaret looked at Lann curiously.

The Demon Hunter then helplessly revealed to her his unprotected body.

”Armor.”

”My armor was destroyed in my last mission; I need a new set.”

As he spoke, the Demon Hunter on the chair squirmed about uncomfortably.

”Without a suit of sturdy armor, I feel practically naked.”

”Wow... isn’t that great?”

The female warlock exclaimed like a rogue.

”I’m serious! I don’t want to be fighting enemy blades and beast claws with my bare body.”

Upon reaching this point, Margaret finally became serious. Her previously frivolous smile began to fade, replaced by rational contemplation.

”Forging armor... isn’t it just about having the money? Master Tuer Butcher in town wouldn’t refuse money.”

”But he doesn’t have the Demon Hunter armor blueprints.”

Lann said helplessly, the female warlock was undoubtedly an amateur when it came to armor, weapons, and such.

”Maybe he kept the blueprints while repairing and improving my previous armor. That would be ideal, so I could commission a set from him in the meantime.”

”However, I’m not just looking for just the original armor now but wanting to advance further to more reliable armor. The previous set is starting to fall behind my pace.”

”In other words, I want master-level, even grandmaster-level Bear School Armor. The blueprints for such armor likely only exist on the Demon Hunters of the Bear School. I need the Academy to help me track them down so I can negotiate for their blueprints.”

”The Demon Hunters of the Bear School...” Margaret said thoughtfully, propping her chin, ”Their traces are not easy to find.”
