Bear School Astartes

From the moment Lann pulled the Undying Slash out of the limp body of Black Conical Hat Li, to when he stuffed half of the God Devourer into the Ninja’s mouth.

It took a total of twelve seconds.

The three Undying Insects on the Immortal Peak Master were monsters that ordinary people, and even a well-equipped veteran warrior like Old Robert, couldn’t handle.

To a large extent, the trickiness of these insects comes from the fact that they simply can’t be killed.

No matter how you cut them, it’s futile. Even if you nail them, divided into segments, to the wall, they will tear their bodies apart without feeling pain and free themselves, becoming active again.

However, with the right weapon capable of causing damage, the threat of these three giant centipedes equates to that of monsters worth over twenty Oren in the Magic World.

The specificity of the Undying Slash is too strong. When the blade of the Undying Slash touches the Undying Insects, it is even more effective than chopping a monster with a silver sword coated with corresponding blade oil.

When Lann rushed to Iwami Yixin’s side, this old man, though skinny as a stick, and with a tough temperament, was knocked flying by a single slash for the first time.

His Tengu mask had long been split in two, and the short straw coat on his shoulder was shredded into strips of reeds by the naginata, scattered all over the Buddhist Hall.

The current Iwami Yixin looked just like an old man in plain clothing who was about to die of breathlessness.

Yet, this old man, who seemed on the verge of suffocation, still wielded his blade with a commanding whoosh.

Each slash carried a sharp and terrifying Air Blade, each strike was steady and swift.

However, these were simply forces squeezed out from his martial prowess.

These energies, which should have been used to maintain the operation of life deep within the body, were now used by Iwami Yixin to wield his sword.

Although he could ensure each slash inflicted harm on the Eight Hundred Nuns, his attack frequency had fallen to a pitiful level.

And when the Immortal Peak Master turned to dust, this gigantic form of the Immortal Peak Temple Abbot suddenly let out a sharp roar.

”Eek-ya!”

Screeching, she swung her kasaya and naginata once again.

It was five grand horizontal sweeps like a dance.

Iwami Yixin had witnessed this move just now when the Eight Hundred Nuns had used those five slashes to hack Lann flying!

The long passage of time, the nourishment of the Water of Source, the Divine Dragon’s Gift Insect... The things accumulated by the Eight Hundred Nuns allowed her to suppress Lann, that ’Two Hearts’ brat, even in their usual state during contests of strength.

The aged Sword Saint, unlike the youthful and vigorous Demon Hunter, had no strength to evade these five slashes via leaps and dodges.

He could only withstand it.

But using his already exhausted body’s residual strength for defense... It’s just too gross!

Iwami Yixin clicked his tongue, cold sweat dripped down his annoyed face, yet he was still prepared to hold his ground.

After all, he still wanted to swing a few more slashes before life’s end.

And just as the dance-like blade wheel surged forth to engulf him, and before the Golden Iron Dragon-Slaying Blade in Iwami Yixin’s hand met it head-on...

A katana blade, stained with what seemed to be either rust or blood mist, suddenly thrust into the circle of dance!

”Clang!!!”

Fierce sparks and a tremendous sound!

The circle of sparks was so vast that it stunned even Iwami Yixin, the creator of the Boarding Carp technique.

Wearing heavy armor and wielding a blood-red katana, Lann thrust into the battle arena from the dust manifesting from the Immortal Peak Master!

The two hearts operated at ultra-high power, the vast amount of oxygen in his blood put his entire body into a state akin to being on stimulants.

And the potency of the Combat Magic Potion combo now emanated into Lann’s eye sockets and eyeballs, making him appear like a ghost of midnight.

Exceptional technique, combined with explosively augmented strength.

Lann’s execution of the Boarding Carp parried, causing the Eight Hundred Nuns’ unstoppable five consecutive sweeping circular attacks to get stuck on the first circle!

The enormous body of purple light involuntarily leaned back from the rebound force of the parry.

In such moments earlier, Lann should’ve immediately withdrawn to counter the collapsing battleground on the other side, thereby missing the opportunity to expand the feat.

But now, the three insects on the Immortal Peak Master had been resolved!

After the Boarding Carp parry, it naturally followed with the Descending Carp.

The upward curve of the blood-red blade deftly turned and slashed vertically downwards!

The Eight Hundred Nuns’ left hand, clutching the Buddhist Bead accessory along with the wide kasaya robe, was sheared into a spray of water!

A sharp, eerie cry echoed from beneath the Hannya mask.

Lann, with eyes dyed pitch black by the magic potion, coldly gazed at this eternal monk.

”Magic, huh?”

Magic typically requires gestures, chants, or magical catalysts.

Although Lann wasn’t sure what the opponent’s Shadow Magic was all about, now with her hand holding the Buddhist Beads cut into a watery spray, it should, at the very least, hinder her spellcasting abilities!

Not much needed, just half a minute will do!

Without having to split attention across two battlefields, Iwami Yixin and Lann focused solely on the Eight Hundred Nuns, drastically reducing the fight’s difficulty.

”An ally, huh?”

The Abbot, who had a hand cut off, clamped the rebounding naginata pole under her armpit, then thrust it forward!

But the Demon Hunter didn’t spare even a glance, dashing forward at a low crouch!

With heavy armor trailing, the old man in cloth laughed gleefully.

Just like when he had slain Inner Mansion generals in his youth; sandals pressed onto the naginata thrust’s blade!

Lann darted, a phantom flash, swiftly slipping beneath the purple-light shadow’s defenses.

The blood-red blade left a streak of red trail, ”poof poof” sounds, as large sprays burst from the Eight Hundred Nuns’ shins.

”Eek-ya!!!”

The sharp screech sounded again.

Perhaps the lengthy life and mutation had robbed her of language ability.

Iwami Yixin unreservedly drained the last bit of vitality from his body, stepping along the naginata blade and pole to climb up the Eight Hundred Nuns’ right arm!

The over two-and-a-half-meter towering body served as a step for the old man.

His knee pressed on her shoulder, left hand gripped a horn of the Hannya mask, exposing her neck, while the long blade in his right hand was poised at her throat.

Without a moment’s hesitation.

”Squelch” rang out as the blade plunged into the throat, spraying phantom water from the back of the neck.

Simultaneously, Lann pressed the Undying Slash’s blade against the Eight Hundred Nuns’ chest and abdomen.

”Undying, huh?”

One hand gripping the hilt, the other pressed on the back of the blade, pushing deeply and decisively in one pull!

”Ssshhh~”

Accompanied by the sound of fabric and flesh tearing together. A massive volume of liquid, like blood, content thrown out by the Qi Blade on the edge, splashed into the air.

The rapid short-term loss of these liquid sprays seemed to affect the foundational existence of the apparition.

After these two slashes by Iwami Yixin and Lann, the Eight Hundred Nuns’ purple light form collapsed backward as if deprived of conscious direction.

Before hitting the ground, the phantom’s body dissolved into flying ash.

Iwami Yixin fell from midair, landing half-kneeling on the ground, with the scabbard braced. One could see he wanted to take deep breaths, but his burnt-out body was unable to respond to his will.

For any normal person relying on bodily functions as the foundation of life, this would count as a moment of deathbed.

But the elder who swung a sword all life long bore no ordinary regret, fear, or rejection... his lips curled into a smile.

For he died in a duel that was brilliantly spectacular.

An impressive curtain call... ”Ugh?”

Not waiting for Iwami Yixin to complete the classic ’slowly lower head and then breathe last’ motion.

Lann forcefully shoved the half piece of the God Devourer he had been clutching all along into the old man’s mouth.
