Chapter 1018: Chapter 62: There Is No Road to Becoming an Immortal in This World (24)

Both Yun Hui and Old Wolf felt that the situation was very tricky, no matter what they did, it seemed like they couldn’t escape the current predicament.

The location was unknown, the time was unknown, but it was probably nighttime.

And judging by the quiet surroundings, it seemed unlikely that anyone would pass by anytime soon—this place looked like it had been abandoned for a long time.

Neither Yun Hui nor Old Wolf knew how long they had been unconscious.

They were undoubtedly confined… or tied up with hemp ropes and placed in this place.

“No, my Mana Stone feels like it’s sunk into the sea, as if it’s been bound by something.” Yun Hui sighed at this moment—under such circumstances, the first thing to do is to check his body.

The results of the check were despairing… He glanced at Old Wolf beside him and found that the other’s face was even worse than his own, probably indicating his condition wasn’t much better either.

Since waking up, Old Wolf had been silent, thinking about something unknown.

Yun Hui began to look around, seeking any possible escape route—but in fact, both he and Old Wolf had all their strength confined, tied tightly with ropes, and all their communication devices had disappeared.

Not only that, but they had even been stripped down to their underwear.

“What exactly is this…” Old Wolf murmured suddenly.

“Old Wolf?” Yun Hui frowned.

Old Wolf shook his head and said, “The other party probably doesn’t intend to kill us, otherwise they wouldn’t just confine us here.”

Yun Hui nodded: “Probably doesn’t want to expose their trail or something?”

After all, all means of communication had been taken away from him and Old Wolf, and they were just confined in this place, leading to that conclusion.

“Could it be related to the missing persons cases of the Demon and Dao Associations?” Yun Hui frowned at the moment—In fact, since he and Old Wolf discovered a White Tiger Clan member murdered, within these twenty-four hours, more names had appeared on the missing persons list within the range of Mount Tai for the two major associations.

“If we can’t get out of danger for a long time, we’ll also be on the missing list, right?” Old Wolf mocked himself, “To be beaten by a little monster around sixty years old, I must have really fallen from grace.”

Yun Hui opened his mouth… He had secretly looked at some of Old Wolf’s records before.

It seemed that before serving, Old Wolf, who was from the Greedy Wolf Tribe, was once the holder of the title of ‘First Brave Warrior’ within the tribe—though the monsters had to send representatives for duty, they typically wouldn’t send their pillars…

“At least, we’re still alive. And if we don’t return, the Management Bureau will notice something…” Yun Hui comforted casually: “Anyway, let’s fill our stomachs first?”

Yun Hui looked at the bag placed on the ground—obviously filled with food, but evidently colded.

Old Wolf frowned.

The issue wasn’t about eating or not, but how to eat—they were tied with their hands and feet bound behind their backs, leaving only their necks above free for movement.

“Speaking of which, tonight is New Year’s Eve…” Yun Hui felt a strong urge to curse.

This was probably the most special New Year’s Eve ever.

…

…

Mo Mo was busy temporarily creating some usable talismans, the materials were the best available from the market.

Once the final talisman was completed, Mo Mo stretched lazily. He glanced casually at Zhan, who was unconscious on the bed… Even if Zhan didn’t wake up in a day or two, they had to depart, despite how conspicuous it would be to carry an unconscious person, making them more likely to be exposed; staying here too long was risky as well.

The Dao and Demon Association was full of various extraordinary people…

Mo Mo opened the window, letting the cold wind from outside clear his mind—the streets outside were nearly deserted, giving a feeling of emptiness.

“Everyone’s gathered back home by this time…” Mo Mo muttered, seemingly a bit absent-minded.

He suddenly felt extremely drowsy, his eyelids growing heavy… even his body was swaying in the next moment.

His hands quickly pressed against the windowsill, steadying his almost collapsing body. Then, Mo Mo’s face turned serious as he lifted his head—his lips already bitten through at this moment.

This drowsiness wasn’t due to overexhaustion, but an external influence… As soon as he bit through his lip, most of the drowsiness faded.

Meanwhile, from downstairs in the hotel, a series of strange sounds echoed… like the sound of something falling. Mo Mo swiftly grabbed the Black Wooden Sword leaning against the corner and leaped out the window.

He landed in the hotel’s small yard.

This hotel’s first floor was the living space for the landlady’s family; looking through the window, Mo Mo saw the whole family collapsed around the dining table.

“Just asleep, perhaps…”

After checking the landlady’s family one by one, Mo Mo felt more and more that something bizarre was going on… Not only in this hotel, but even in the neighboring two inns’ people had all fallen into a deep sleep at this time.

Mo Mo didn’t dare to stray too far; after checking the nearby two inns, he hurried back to his place, intending to relocate Zhan.

He quickly settled Zhan in another nearby inn—of course, choosing an empty room with no one lodging.

“Summon!”

Stacking five talismans in hand, a mystical Black Cat emerged from the floor of the room, “Guard here; if anything happens, notify me immediately!”

Mo Mo instructed the summoned spirit cat.

Then he quickly moved back to the street—he walked past several houses, finding all the ordinary households on this path had actually fallen into a coma!

And then, from a distance came a sudden loud noise…

…

Around seven or eight at night, although the streetlights were plentiful, there were very few pedestrians. A strangely dressed girl with short white hair sat alone on a bench at the bus station, eating a hamburger and soda she had bought.

Nero crumpled the leftover wrapping paper into a ball and tossed it toward a rubbish bin not far away—a perfect arc, without any surprises, the paper ball should have gone smoothly into the bin.

But a sudden gust of wind made its trajectory deviate, and the ball landed next to the bin.

“Huh?” Nero blinked, looking toward the direction from which the wind came—on the small town road ahead, a mass of thick fog was spreading.

Nero picked up the soda from the chair, took two quick sips, then put down the large cup that only had ice left. With the paint tube on his back, he walked into the thick mist.

In the mist, he could occasionally see one or two pedestrians, but they were all lying on the ground—still breathing, as if they had just fallen asleep.

In the thick fog, Nero did see a constantly flickering light. Upon closer inspection, he found it was the hazard lights of a black car…it seemed they were deliberately left on to attract his attention.

And before this black business car stood a man of considerable appearance.

There seemed to be someone inside the car as well.

Nero stopped about three meters away from the man outside and had no intention of saying anything, just chewing bubblegum while watching.

The man calmly spoke, “White hair, strange outfit. You must be the one who stole from Wolong Mountain Villa.”

“I don’t know what you mean by Wolong Mountain Villa, young man,” Nero said with a slight smile.

The young man said expressionlessly, “I don’t want to do anything unnecessary, just hand over the little embroidered box, and you can leave safely.”

Nero squinted, looking at the mist around and then at a distant unconscious pedestrian, suddenly smiling playfully, “Oh, don’t want to do anything unnecessary?”

The young man calmly said, “This is necessary… And madam, it seems you’re not the type to be reasoned with, so there’s no other way.”

Nero shrugged, just as he was about to say something, his eyes suddenly narrowed sharply.

A shadow…instantly advanced to the front of him, his palm sweeping across like a wielding war knife—this ‘war knife’ was mercilessly aimed at her neck.

This speed…

Nero’s body instantly leaned back, the man’s hand knife dangerously skimmed past the front of Nero’s neck… just a swiftly slicing airflow, the collar in front of Nero’s chest was still cut open a bit.

It was as cleanly cut as if by a sharp utility knife.

Nero’s legs bounced lightly on the ground a few times, and the distance between him and the mysterious young man expanded to about seven or eight meters.

“Whew, that was close,” Nero chuckled lightly, “almost lost my head… Young man, you seem to have a strong scent of blood on you.”

“You’re not bad either,” the young man retracted his hand, removed his suit jacket, and rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt.

“You plan to get serious, young man?”

“After all, I don’t want to drag it on for too long… War Spirit, possess.”

After a very faint voice, a white flame rose from the young man’s body, coating him all over—it was certainly not a flame that could burn, but more like a gathering of will.

The paint tube on Nero’s back suddenly vibrated slightly, the object within the tube was conveying a kind of thirsty desire to Nero at this moment.

But there was no time for Nero to be distracted right now, the young man before him enveloped in white flames once again advanced at a speed that was more difficult for Nero to defend.

This speed far exceeded the previous one.

The young man’s hand knife slashed at Nero seven times in an instant—only to see seven visible half-moon-shaped air swirls penetrating from Nero’s body. They flew directly over ten meters behind Nero!

The half-moon-shaped air swirl instantly sliced a parked car on the street into many components.

Nero, at this moment, lowered his head, but at some point, the paint tube on his back was already in front of him, upright… and there were bleeding wounds on each of his arms.

The paint tube was nearly shattered, Nero at this moment lifted his head, a hint of an unusual color flashed across his pupils, but he still laughed lightly, “Young man, you’re not holding back at all.”

But the young man only turned his eyes, seeing that the first attack did not yield the expected effect, he raised his hand knife again without a word.

“Then I won’t hold back either~”

A cold light flickered across; the young man’s expressionless face suddenly changed, seeing Nero leap up with a strange shimmering long sword in his hand.

“Air Slice!”

Clutching the hilt of the Yama Sword with both hands, tendrils of black smoke-like aura emanated from the blade, as Nero slashed down from above at the young man!

Rumble—!!!

Like a giant hammer descending, a massive crater appeared in the road instantly.

Only this sudden attack did not hit the mysterious one, and Nero didn’t mind; after landing, he stretched out his left hand towards the young man, the Yama Sword resting against his left arm, the tip fitting into his left palm, aimed at this mysterious young man, in a ready position.

Nero’s gaze became more enchanting, seemingly delighted, “…Dragon Fang!”

The thrust came at an extremely high speed but did not exceed the young man’s response capabilities… Briefly, however, he felt a sense of stagnation, as if his body had been locked by something, and his limbs were momentarily difficult to move properly.

However, in the level of combat as this, even a fleeting moment could be lethal.

Underestimating this woman… the young man’s heart skipped a beat, the white flame on his body instantly converged in front of him, transforming into a circular shield!

The Yama Sword’s blade hit this white circular shield directly—in an instant, the young man’s body was knocked back as if hit by a truck, shooting straight backward before crashing onto the front of the black business car!

The windshield of the car was smashed to pieces.

Nero casually swung the Yama Sword, then placing his hand above his eyes, stood on tiptoe, posing as if peering into the distance, “Young man, are you alright? Hello! Young man, can you still hear me?”

The young man at that moment pressed his hands on the hood of the business car, propping himself up… though appearing somewhat disheveled, his face remained calm, clearly not much harmed, or at least unscathed.

“Zhi Shui, you’re too slow.”

However, from inside the car, there came a sudden, cold voice.

Zhi Shui… Gongsun Zhishui at that moment got off from the car, brushed away the glass shards on him, and said calmly, “This woman is not weak; she might even qualify to compete for ‘Golden Sword War General’ in the Qian Department.”

“So you don’t qualify as the ‘Golden Sword War General’?” The voice from inside the car followed again, “Five minutes.”

Gongsun Zhishui chuckled lightly, “More than enough.”

With that, as Gongsun Zhishui extended his palm, a longsword wrapped in lightning slowly emerged, finally being held in his hand.
