Chapter 989: Chapter 33: Haunted House (Part 1)

This is not a creation of a familiar era.

‘Mo Xiaofei’ held the modern tool called a mobile phone, flipping through it up and down. When his finger accidentally touched the phone screen, the suddenly opened interface and the sound emitted from the phone startled him, causing him to throw the phone onto the table.

Throughout the entire process, Zhuifeng was in a daze, watching the bizarre actions of his big brother.

It must be that old man did something to his big brother… Such a strange centipede crawling into his brother’s ear… Although it was eventually pulled out, who knows if that centipede didn’t damage his brother’s brain?

Zhuifeng did consider the possibility that Mo Xiaofei might have been possessed by an Evil Demon — but he quickly dismissed the idea.

Zhuifeng, who had inherited some of the Greedy Legacy, had his mind filled with a lot of knowledge, including knowledge about being possessed by Evil Demons.

However, his big brother Mo Xiaofei was very special. Even those especially powerful Evil Demons might not be able to succeed, and ordinary Evil Demons probably couldn’t even get close. This wasn’t due to Mo Xiaofei’s powerful superpower, but because his big brother Mo Xiaofei actually contained true dragon’s blood.

Because of the enhancement and transformation of his body due to the true dragon’s blood, his big brother Mo Xiaofei could withstand the powerful and continuously advancing superpower without worrying that his brain’s evolution would exceed his body’s capacity.

Perhaps his brain was indeed damaged by the centipede… Isn’t this what modern society says: cognitive dissonance.

“This thing, can it truly transmit sound from a thousand miles, converse with people thousands of miles away, even communicate face to face?” ‘Mo Xiaofei’ suddenly looked at Zhuifeng.

“Why don’t you try calling home to talk to Uncle and Aunt?” Zhuifeng suggested tentatively.

He dropped out in middle school, so his education level wasn’t very high, and much of his knowledge came from hearsay… It’s said that for mental illness, it’s best to communicate more with family — anyway, this was just a flash of inspiration for Zhuifeng.

“No need.” ‘Mo Xiaofei’ shook his head and then stared at Zhuifeng, saying calmly, “I have just awoken and know little of modern society. Even though you are a demon, you stayed by my side in times of danger, showing your loyalty!”

“Hehe…” Zhuifeng scratched his head in embarrassment, “Big brother, you said it yourself, we’re like brothers! Besides, back then we didn’t even know each other, yet you risked your life to save mine… This is nothing!”

That was an unforgettable moment for Zhuifeng — in the grand stadium concert, the young man dressed in oversized firefighting clothes, risking his life to save him… that determined gaze.

‘Mo Xiaofei’ stood up, paced with his hands behind his back, muttering to himself: “Though I command the world, there is no one trustworthy by my side. From your eyes, I see true sincerity, which is rare… you said your name is Zhuifeng?”

Zhuifeng nodded… It’s better to go along with the lunatic, right?

In fact, Zhuifeng had no better way now. He knew that Mo Xiaofei’s current state wasn’t quite right — but it was beyond his ability to solve. So he might as well keep a close watch, at least preventing his big brother Mo Xiaofei from running around causing trouble, because with his abilities, he could wreak chaos much worse than Zhuifeng himself could handle.

If they could find Lord Long or Mr. Gui, perhaps there would be a solution.

The other option was to return to the pet hospital… but thinking about it gave Zhuifeng a headache, because he and Mo Xiaofei sneaked out while Sun Xiaosheng, the temporary trainer, was having fun in Elysium. And if they sent his big brother back home in this state, it would only worry his Uncle and Aunt, which wouldn’t be good.

‘Mo Xiaofei’ walked up to Zhuifeng, placing a hand on his shoulder, calmly saying: “To be inclusive, like the sea embracing all rivers. Without being able to accommodate others, how could I be a king? Though you are a demon, your loyalty will be rewarded! I have just awoken, and you are the only one I can trust… Well, I now appoint you as a General with a Gold Seal and Purple Ribbon, in charge of military affairs. But for now, conditions are modest; the matter of the gold seal will wait for another day!”

“Ah… okay!”

Though not knowing what it was, agreeing seemed fine… nothing should go wrong, right?

Big brother, when will you come back to your senses…

‘Mo Xiaofei’ then pondered for a moment and sat down, closing his eyes in contemplation — despite this, Zhuifeng didn’t dare speak loudly and even closed his mouth, because he felt that his big brother now exuded an overpowering aura that unconsciously commanded respect.

Suddenly, ‘Mo Xiaofei’ opened his eyes and slowly asked, “Zhuifeng, I ask you, what year is it, and who is the emperor of the time?”

“Huh?” Zhuifeng scratched his head, not caring much about the affairs of human society… If asked about when ‘Iron Armor Hero’ airs, he could answer.

“What? Zhuifeng, you don’t know either?” ‘Mo Xiaofei’ frowned at this moment.

“Well…” Zhuifeng reluctantly said, “Why don’t you ask ‘Duniang’, big brother?”

“Duniang?” ‘Mo Xiaofei’ was taken aback.

Zhuifeng nodded, half understanding, “Isn’t that what people say? ‘Ask Duniang if you have a question,’ she has the answer to everything, Duniang knows it all!”

‘Mo Xiaofei’ was immediately intrigued, “Is this true? I didn’t expect there to be such a learned person in the world, and even more impressive, this person is a woman… Hmm, where does she reside, and how can she be met?”

“Well, it seems Duniang is in your phone…”

‘Mo Xiaofei’ was again startled, then looked at the smartphone on the table, gazing deeply, “Nowadays, there seems to be such an exotic magic, to trap a person in this little box…”

Big brother, wake up!!

…

…

The old residence of the Song Family was not far from Mount Tai, where they could view the Mount Tai Summit.

That being said, it was still a considerable distance from Mount Tai.

The Song Family, along with Luo Qiu and others, were traveling on the Zhang Family’s private plane, and after deplaning, Mr. Aqi had arranged for a car which was waiting outside the airport.

This time, nothing strange happened inside the airport, and after boarding the car, the journey continued in silence. After about half a day’s drive, Song Tianyou finally returned to the hometown he had been away from for years.

This time, the bloodline of the Song Family that had wandered outside was brought back. Even someone like Song Tianyou, who had spent half his life with an iron will, couldn’t help but shed tears… Perhaps it was a feeling called the trepidation of returning home?

Just after getting off the vehicle, Song Tianyou released the hands that Song Haoran and Song Ying were holding him with, taking his cane, he staggered to a small hill from which he could view the village ahead.

The elderly silhouette began to elongate under the orange-red sky; at this moment, Song Tianyou waved his cane, pointing at a place inhabited by people, and began recounting stories from many years ago.

“Actually, I didn’t grow up here either.” Song Tianyou spoke slowly at this moment, “But when I was a child, every year my family would bring me back here once. My dad, grandpa, and brother… your grandfather.”

He looked at Luo Qiu, comforting him with a smile, moving the cane again to point at a not-so-distant forested mountain, “The Song family’s ancestral graves are in there. Rest well tonight, tomorrow I’ll take you there.”

Seeing the strong wind, Luo Qiu helped Elder Song down.

From here, Song Tianyou chose to walk, “It was called Song Family Fortress then, now it’s renamed Song Family Village. I heard from my grandpa that Song Family Fortress was protected by an immortal being called Dragon God’s child, named ‘Wang’, residing in the pond in the back hills.”

“Dragon God’s child…” Luo Qiu paused, curiously asking, “‘Wang’? Is it ‘forget’ or ‘gaze’?”

“It’s ‘gaze’.” Song Tianyou fell into reminiscence, “When I was young, I clamored for my grandpa to take me to see Dragon God’s child. Grandpa brought me, and then I arrived at the front of the pond. It was connected to a not-so-small waterfall. At the time, I hadn’t seen a waterfall before; it felt quite imposing, really scared me. Grandpa and I stood there for quite a while. Occasionally, we could hear roaring sounds like thunder coming from the depths of the waterfall. Grandpa told me that it was the Dragon God’s child ‘Wang’ calling, the roar of a dragon.”

Upon hearing this, Song Ying stepped forward and casually said, “Probably there’s a cave behind the waterfall, where wind passes through, forming wind holes, creating the sound.”

Song Tianyou merely chuckled, tapping Song Ying’s head lightly with his cane, “If you said this back in the days to my grandpa, he would have tapped you like this, saying you are disrespectful.”

Song Ying stuck her tongue out.

Beside them, Zhang Qingrui smiled slightly at this moment, “As the saying goes, ‘A mountain may not be high, with a dragon it is spiritual’. This place, surrounded by mountains and green waters, is truly a Feng Shui treasure.”

“Oh? Ms. Zhang also understands Feng Shui metaphysical matters?” Elder Song said with a smile.

Zhang Qingrui tucked her hair softly, “I wouldn’t say I understand, it’s just that some old Feng Shui metaphysical books are at home, I’ve looked through them out of boredom, so I just know a little, it’s all superficial.”

“Ms. Zhang is modest.” Song Tianyou laughed, “Feng Shui Geomancy, incidentally, is also your grandmother’s family’s old craft.”

Zhang Qingrui simply smiled without further exploring this topic.

“Is the residence over there the ancestral house?” At this moment, Luo Qiu suddenly asked while looking at a large old yard ahead.

Song Tianyou answered, “Yes, that’s the ancestral house of the Song Family. I first returned from abroad more than twenty years ago, and this house was already halfway gone, the items within vanished long ago. Later, I hired people to renovate this house and had some caretakers hired. When I returned several years ago, I could still see some elderly, but now it’s uncertain… Let’s walk, it’s getting dark.”

“Strange, the sky isn’t dark, but I can’t see anyone?” Song Ying gazed towards the village entrance and spotted a pavilion with ‘Song Family Village’ inscribed, “Grandfather, do people here rest so early?”

Song Tianyou said, “Mountain villagers work at sunrise and rest at sunset, resting early is quite normal. But… indeed today is rather early.”

At this point, Song Haoran gave a signal, and a black-suited strong man by his side nodded, quickly stepping into the village.

When he walked out of the pavilion, the group also happened to reach the pavilion position—the strong man had brought back a senior.

“Master, there seems to be a situation, so I brought someone back,” the strong bodyguard respectfully said at this moment.

Seeing Song Tianyou, the senior first paused and then took a couple of steps closer, squinting hard. His sight seemed somewhat blurred, likely due to deteriorating vision.

The elderly then said, “Are you… are you Elder Song? The master of Song Family’s big house?”

“Song Bo?” Song Tianyou frowned, evidently recognizing the elderly, “Are you Song Bo?”

“Yes, it’s me.” The small old man patted his chest at this moment, raising a thumb, “Elder Song still remembers me!”

Song Tianyou laughed, “Of course I remember, when the house was being repaired, you were there. I even had meals at your place… Later on, I’ve returned several times intermittently but haven’t met you. How’s your health?”

“Great, can eat and sleep, still have a few taels of white liquor daily!” Song Bo patted his chest, “I went out to make a living back then, gone for more than a decade, returned only two or three years ago. Old now, can’t move much, just waiting for death here.”

Song Tianyou patted this small old man’s shoulder, smiling, “Still robust, speaking too early… By the way, I just returned, let’s chat while walking, and you tell me about the village’s affairs… My people mentioned the village has some situation, did anything happen?”

Song Bo seemed hesitated, afraid, as he glanced back at the village, wanting to speak but holding back.

“Song Bo, I’m also considered one of Song Family Village,” Song Tianyou said calmly, “I burned incense in the Song Family Village’s shrine before. If the village has trouble, I can’t pretend not to see it. Speak freely, is there any difficulty in life?”

“Ah, Elder Song, it’s not a matter of helping or not.” Song Bo shook his head, “Some things can’t be dictated by money.”

Song Tianyou paused.

Song Haoran smiled, “Uncle Song Bo, do you remember me? Song Haoran, Elder Song’s son.”

“Remember, remember, young master.” Song Bo grinned, showing his sparse teeth, “So grown up now. When I saw you, you weren’t even half my height!”

Song Haoran softly smiled, “Grown up indeed. Not only grown up but capable as well. Uncle Song Bo, you just said some things can’t be dictated by money, then fine, things that aren’t dictated by money, we can dictate. Feel free to speak your mind if there’s anything.”

“This…” Song Bo hesitated for a while, looking at the Song family and their entourage.

A group of imposing strong men followed closely behind, quite intimidating…. perhaps the presence gave Song Bo courage, he then gritted his teeth d spoke, “Elder Song, you may not know, but recently our Song Family Village… is haunted! Really fierce!”
