Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2065: Realization

”Why do you look so worried?” Deuvuo said with a chuckle. ”They donʼt seem all that interested in us at all.”

Juxi didnʼt reply, her entire body having gone taut. There was no one more aware of the weakness of the Skai Heaven than the Thryskai themselves. The impotent system had too much of a struggle carving out a path for those that made Will their main stat.

By comparison, the geniuses of the Cryst Heaven were far stronger on average.

There were always exceptions to every rule. The Purvon had her elder cousin, Rhykan, for example. However, Rhykan wasnʼt here right now. And if she knew her elder cousin well, and she almost certainly did, it was that he wouldnʼt step out for something that neither interested him nor was worth his time.

Rhykan would never care enough to prove himself against the geniuses of the Cryst Heaven, he wouldnʼt be interested in C-tiers, and he certainly wouldnʼt find any use in making enemies of a Clan of people coming from an entirely different Heaven.

All that would do was give him problems. And for what? His ego? He was uninterested.

At a moment when the Mortal Realmʼs Skai Heaven would need him the most, Rhykan wasnʼt even here. He had just up and disappeared.

The uneasiness she was feeling was about far more than just the immediate danger of the situation.

Everyoneʼs gazes were set too high. They had seemingly forgotten that the Mortal Realm was the foundation of everything.

But Deuvuo was right about one thing. Those six Cryst Emperors that had unexpectedly appeared werenʼt looking at her or the others at all. They didnʼt even cast a gaze toward the rising creature beneath them.

Every one of them was looking at Sylas.

And there he was, paying more attention to the portals forming and the surroundings than to them at all.

ʼArrogant.ʼ

It was the one word Juxi could use to describe him. That lofty sentiment, that constant, perpetual drumming to his own rhythm, she had seen it before.

She had grown up with it.

With Rhykanʼs shadow constantly looming overhead.

ʼIs he really the same?ʼ

Juxi shook her head. Now wasnʼt the time to be worried about this. They were trapped here with these Cryst Emperors and there was a strong block put up against outsiders teleporting here.

The only way for anyone to make it now was to come the long way. But by then, the Dungeon would be finished forming and the entries would be set.

They could also continue sending teleportation attempts to weaken the barrier, but that would also take way too long.

Even though only the Skai Heaven specialized in Will, every Heaven, regardless of what Core Stat they specialized in, had powerful Rune Masters of their own-even the Beast Heaven.

In many ways, which form of Rune Mastery sat atop the others was hard to distinguish.

Even though the actual Will Legacies of the Skai Heaven were weak, their Rune Mastery skill was second to none.

The trouble was that there was little difference, if any at all, when it came to power output at the highest levels.

And at the lower levels, the brute forcing methods of some of the other Heavens surpassed them completely and wholly.

The ability of the Cryst Heaven to supplement lack of Rune Mastery skill with powerful Aether was incredibly troublesome to deal with.

The very best Rune Masters of the Skai Heaven were second to none. But there were too many holes in their understanding on the Mortal and Demi-God Planes.

The worst part was that even if that wasnʼt the case, the orb they had used was far too powerful. They had brought that formation here in a treasure for a reason.

It was at least at the A-tier, very close to the Legend level.

The more Juxi thought about their current situation, the more she spiralled, and the more she looked toward Sylas. His calmness only seemed to make her spiral more.

”Sylas Grimblade.” One of the Blue Trolls said coldly. ”It is, indeed, you.”

Sylas didnʼt respond, but the idea that someone from the Cryst Heaven recognized him on sight alone was almost amusing. It seemed he had quite the reputation with them already.

However, Sylasʼ main goal here was still the Glutton. The only reason he hadnʼt shattered the shoddy formation above his head was because it was the only thing that could ensure he couldnʼt escape.

While it was true that this was an A-tier formation, it was far too spread out, and had far too many weaknesses. The worst part for it was that it was embedding itself into space and directly into Sylasʼ domain.

If this could have stopped him, then it would have been little more than a joke.

But Juxi didnʼt know that. In her opinion, Sylas had stumbled into all of this by chance, and now his only avenue to call for help was cut.

BOOM.

The portals in the air suddenly slammed into one piece and the planet beneath them crumbled to pieces, leaving nothing behind but crumbling remains of various towns and the shell of a tortoise so large that had Sylas not been sure a creature had been waking up all this time, he wouldnʼt have spotted the difference between what was beneath his feet now and an endless stretch of land.

Right in the middle of it all, the fused portal combined into one, an arched gate of bronze and rusted as though weathered by time and age appeared to force it to stabilize.

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed. ʼThat is a Will Construct.ʼ

Sylas was sure of it. He had spent so much time analyzing the black mountain that the First Race had manifested, he knew a Will Construct when he saw one. But this one didnʼt seem to be the product of Rune Mastery in the

normal sense.

It was almost like the Will of this creature was naturally shaped into this form, nearly like a projection of its Will Core Layer.

Sylasʼ heart skipped a beat as he came to a realization.
