Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2062: A Fourth

The process of being sent spiralling across time and space through Yameroʼs methods wasnʼt nearly as luxurious as the way the Weaver Guild did things. In fact, it felt like the difference between riding a luxury sedan versus horseback... without a saddle.

If one process could have already left you weak and sick for a time, this one-if it didnʼt directly kill you-should have left your head spiralling for weeks, if not months. This sort of motion sickness was seeping into your very bones itself until it crushed your remarkably being.

Sylas stepped out from it as though it was a normal teleportation right into the middle of a desert of red sand.

ʼ24 hours.ʼ

That was the time limit Sylas gave himself before he would return to the Weaver Guild.

Not alone.

But with a Gluttonʼs head.

Sylas didnʼt have any particularly strong hatred for the Glutton. The latter had tried to kill him, but so had many others before him. As far as Sylas was concerned, that was just the way life worked.

But now Sylas had his own reasons for needing the Gluttonʼs head. This was the fastest way to lock the Analei on his side and ensure that they could move ahead freely.

Since his sister was on the Demi-God Plane now and he was trusting her to establish herself, he could take things easier on the Mortal Plane than he originally meant to.

When the time came to ascend, he would shatter everything in his path in a single sweeping momentum until none of his enemies were left.

ʼSoon.ʼ

There was an eagerness in Sylasʼ heart to do exactly that as he walked forward at a calming pace, an excitement to face a challenge he wasnʼt quite sure he was good enough to deal with.

That pushed him all the more.

But sometimes it was necessary to take a step back and view things from a wider lens.

It wasnʼt long before Sylas caught sight of a dilapidated town up ahead. Even calling it a town felt like it was giving it too much credit.

The walls were formed out of rusted and worn metal sheets that looked like they had once been someoneʼs roof, the ”gates”, if they could be called that, were just a bunch of barbed wire sewing together what looked like the skulls of the deceased, and the foul smell wafting from it made it far more reminiscent of a sewage dump, or just any general dump, than any town people should be living in.

Sylas recognized this place immediately, not because he had been here or physically seen it, but because the description was too on the nose.

These were the wild lands, a strip of space, asteroid belts, and planets that existed in the void between the Weaver Guild and the Seeing Eye Guild.

The two Guilds had been warring for a long time, so the only thing that could have existed between them was absolute chaos.

Youths often came here to train if they were sadistic enough because it was truly a place where there were no rules and anything went.

And Sylas was stepping into it as an E-tier. He practically observed like he hadnʼt worked a day in his life, right down to the unblemished tan trench coat he wore.

A sniffle came from the side as someone snorted up their own snot and then swallowed.

A lumbering bear of a man with thick green skin lay reclined on a garbage heap to the side.

He looked up when he saw Sylas, a hint baffled. Then he licked his lips as though he thought Sylas looked quite tender.

Maybe it was because Sylas was too sensitive to the Sins now that he had the Virtues, but he could instantly tell that that man had no desire to eat him, at least not in the roasted meat sort of way.

Sylas raised a finger and a great amount of pressure descended from above, crashing into the man and sending him spiraling into a hole in the ground so deep the beaming sun above couldnʼt even reach it.

The town quaked as a roar of pain echoed.

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed and then he looked down beneath his feet.

How had he not sensed that the town was built on the back of a creature? It was like it had been dead just moments ago.

Now Sylas had effectively punched a hole through a giant just to make a point.

What made even less sense was that as the creature woke up, its strength continued to accelerate upward.

From F-tier to E-tier, then from E-tier to D-tier.

It didnʼt seem like it was slowing down. If anything its pace was accelerating, rushing up as though it wasnʼt just waking up, but instead that it was coming alive.

BANG. BANG. BANG.

A surging light twisting space appeared in the surroundings as the ground rose beneath Sylasʼ feet.

One portal after another was twisted into existence.

From some of them, powerhouses stepped out, and from others, it looked like...

ʼDungeons?ʼ

”Itʼs waking up!”

”FUCK IʼVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS!”

A red-skinned man with a line of three eyes stacked atop one another on his forehead stepped out of another portal and immediately started howling as though he had lost his mind.

Sylas didnʼt spend much time looking at this man, though, despite how odd his words were. That was because a moment later, a woman stepped out.

The first thing one would notice were the outrageously long legs. They somehow seemed to take up much of her body, and yet werenʼt disproportional at all. Though, it certainly didnʼt help that she was dressed like some sort of succubus, right down to the leather lingerie that didnʼt do very much to hide anything at all.

The second thing he noticed were the horns on her head and the leathery wings on her back.

The third thing he noticed was the slit in her forehead.

The fourth thing he noticed was the whispering wave of darkness coming from her.

This was a Thryskai.

A Thryskai of the Purvon Clan.

The woman smiled lightly, waves of Charisma wafting off of her.

And then she looked toward Sylas and her eyes narrowed.
