Chapter 1566 Demonic Envoy

Sylas reached out a hand. However, just as his telekinesis was about to make a move, he felt a strong resistance- the kind that came from more than just another Will. It felt like there was a barrier of worlds separating himself and Moose. Despite the fact he could clearly see the latter, it was like he wasnʼt really within reach at all.

A short distance that felt like miles upon miles, an endless gap that couldnʼt be crossed. One that was protecting the man maybe more than he knew.

Moose had grown even more since the last time Sylas had seen him. He was already a behemoth of a man, towering and imposing, even more so than Kael. But now, he stood taller than even a Trakar. Though he lacked the extra set of arms, he was easily eight or so meters tall, a brick wall of muscle rippling in every which direction.

Yet, this tank of a man was very clearly solemn at this moment. He knew of the gap between himself and Sylas.

[Moose (???)]

[Level: 50]

[Physical: 222,377][Mental: 222,803][Will: 222,387]

All things considered, stats like this shouldnʼt appear on a Level 50 from Earth. However, what the stats reflected and Mooseʼs actual strength were vastly different matters.

As a Demonic Envoy, Moose couldnʼt access his full strength in the Real World. At best, his performance was at about half of what his stats dictated.

To make matters worse, he was facing the Progenitor of the world he was attempting to gain a foothold in, so his stats were about another half weaker than even that.

You could slash his stats to about a quarter of what they were now to get a more accurate reflection of the strength he could muster.

He was almost certainly wearing Demonic Treasures to make up for this matter, but unless they were on the level of Cassaraeʼs armor set, it wouldnʼt make much of a difference to Sylas at all. And considering the sheer fear radiating from Moose, it didnʼt take a genius to figure out he had no such thing.

Yet, he was protected by a wall that was quite literally formed of another world.

What Sylas didnʼt exactly understand just yet was why he was both here and yet not...

ʼWhat is a Demonic Envoy?ʼ Sylas directly asked his Pride Madness Key.

Surprisingly, it cost Sylas just a single Common Gene to receive the answer to this question, whereas he could feel quite clearly that asking the Gluttony Madness Key would have gotten him penalized into oblivion.

He was fairly certain that this was the perk of being a full-fledged Madness Disciple.

[What is a Demonic Envoy?]

[A Demonic Envoy is a herald of the Demon World, usually a creature or humanoid of the Real World capable of utilizing Demon Aether to level up. They act as a foothold into the Real World for the Demon World, corrupting systems and forming bridges that more substantive Demons can step through.] [They are usually separated into tiers, not just dependent on their strength, but the quality of Demonic talent that they can replicate.] [These beings are usually very secretive, as revealing their own identities will often lead to death. However, because they tend to level and grow at a much faster rate than others, they are threats many never see coming.] —

It was a comprehensive and quite full response. Sylas found it almost therapeutic that he didnʼt have to scratch and claw for such answers anymore.

Maybe the Pride Madness Key still had its limits, but he had yet to find them.

ʼA foothold...ʼ Sylasʼ eyes narrowed. ʼFaster rate of growth...ʼ

This matter of growth didnʼt seem as simple as the Key described. Moose didnʼt just level up; his entire foundation had been altered.

And that should be something related to the mention of Demonic talent. Moose was clearly growing more Demonic the stronger he became. There was no natural Human of Earth that could grow so large.

Could it be that Legacy wanted to study this method of accelerated growth?

This felt a bit wild, though... especially for Legacy.

One or two madmen amongst their number wouldnʼt take down the whole group. But if there was a systematic organization behind them that focused on researching this matter, it was impossible that the system wouldnʼt come down with a hammer.

Unless...

ʼUnless Legacy truly doesnʼt fear the system.ʼ

There was one elephant in the room that refused to shrink away. The system had been created by someone. And by that logic, it was only as infallible as the possibility of someone else replicating it or comprehending it.

Legacy had already displayed the most blatant form of system manipulation that Sylas had ever seen. They had completely overwritten a system notification Sylas had been about to receive.

ʼNo. It shouldnʼt be that exaggerated. If they were truly so fearless, why bother to wait all this time? Even if it isnʼt the system restricting them, something is. And in this case...ʼ

Sylasʼ palm slowly patted the air once more. Runes danced to life, each more complex than the next. They formed so fast Aether rolled in like roaring waves; hurricane-like winds picked up, causing the poison and swaying trees in the region to nearly flatten out entirely.

Moose couldnʼt see Sylas like the latter could see him. He had separated himself into another world, and his spatial affinity was nothing like Sylasʼ.

Right at this moment, the behemoth of a man was just trying to hold on, just waiting for his support to arrive, whatever support that may be... Until the world around him trembled, shook...

And then shattered.

A grip of telekinesis formed around Mooseʼs throat, ripping him upward with such force he crashed through one panel of his City Lord Mansion after another until he was dragged out into the dirt by his face.

Sylas continued to stand on the hilt with a cold sharpness in his face.

”Who are you waiting for?” he asked calmly.

Mooseʼs pupils trembled, but before he could speak, the Demon Portal shook and the sound of clinking armor rang out.
