1562 Headache [1000 GT Bonus]

The room fell into silence.

The ambience was a bit odd. It felt like the sort of meeting that should happen behind closed doors, but they were in a family room with Sylasʼ people all around, scattered in various corners of the open-concept living space.

”Youʼre right.” Sylas said. ”I donʼt care about any of this.”

Kael didnʼt know how he expected Sylas to answer, but this was the last thing he thought would come in reply.

Sylas sat there as though he was still waiting to hear something interesting. Everything that Kael had said were things that he had already known without even stepping on Earth. If he wanted to sense trouble points of Earth, it was as easy as sitting in meditation for a few seconds.

Between how exaggerated his Luck stat was right now, and his Progenitor status, he could just close his eyes and let the world lead him to any and all problem areas.

There was only one thing that was akin to a thorn at his side, a looming threat that even his Luck and Progenitor status couldnʼt see thorugh, someone who could not only circumvent the system, but the world itself.

To Kael, the things he mentioned were, indeed, great threats.

To Sylas, they were ants. To say that it was a matter of a wave of a hand gave them far too much credit.

When Sylas was facing off against the City of Glass, he could have easily made it easier on himself. He could have summoned Gogo, he could have fused with Nosphaleen, he could have used his Monkey King Gene Talent, or tapped into his new Grimblade Bloodline.

But he hadnʼt done any of those things.

For one, he wasnʼt sure who was watching and he still wanted cards in his back pocket. But there was another reason, one surrounding the psychology of people.

At a certain level of strength, the weak couldnʼt possibly tell the difference.

Kael knew that Sylas was far stronger than him. But to Kael, a difference of a hundred times stronger and a thousand times stronger was lost on him, even if the latter was an entire order of magnitude beyond the former.

That was to say that Kael was bringing up these things because he thought there was still a chance that they could interfere with Sylasʼ plans or grow into a threat he couldnʼt face in the future.

But this was too far from the truth.

As for why, it was because Kael knew Sylas was strong, but he had no idea how strong.

Kael probably still thought the E-tiers hiding on Earth could give Sylas trouble. He probably thought the alliance between the Celestial Republic and the Clypsians was a threat to him. He probably thought that the Demons that could make their way to Earth right now could make him fight with his life on the line.

All of these assumptions were wrong.

The reason Sylas listened to Kael from start to finish was because he was hoping that the latter might have a clue he didnʼt have, some information that might allow him to piece together what he was missing and finally understand exactly who this enemy was and precisely what they wanted.

But from Kaelʼs words, it was clear he had not the faintest clue, and that made Sylas completely uninterested in hearing what he had to say.

Kaelʼs gaze flickered. The realization of all of these things settled in and his expression changed for a moment.

He didnʼt believe Sylas was a fool. Someone less intelligent might feel frustrated. How could the things he had brought up possibly be glossed over so easily?

But the moment he understood Sylasʼ thought process, his approach likewise changed.

”In that case, the Demon World Portal.” Kael started, pausing to see if Sylas was interested.

”Go on.”

”At the start of the Summoning, Earth was jumbled and the Aether Plane Portals were scattered and random. This was fixed after your successful Summoning, and the coordinates of the Aether Plane Portals and the continents became one to one.

”Now, Earth and the Aether Plane are soon to be completely fused together. In exactly two months. But what my people have detected is that there is something odd going on with the Demon World Portal. It seems to be trying to force a shift again. However, itʼs been impossible for my people to understand exactly whatʼs going on, not without travelling to the other side.”

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed. ”Alright.”

After this single word, Sylas stood.

”Mother, Iʼll be heading out again.”

Isolde wanted to say something, but she had always been a prim and proper woman. With a guest here at least one she didnʼt see as family-she knew not to treat Sylas like the baby boy she couldnʼt help but see him as.

”... Be careful.” She said softly.

”They arenʼt a threat to me.” Sylas replied.

This time the words really resonated in Isoldeʼs mind. She was clever enough to feel out the intricacies in the conversation Sylas had just had with Kael... Then there was the City of Glass.

If she wasnʼt Sylasʼ mother, she would have already known. Maybe she wouldnʼt be so worried now at all.

After a man leveled a City Trial all on his own, what need was there to worry about his safety any longer?

”Can I come?” Cassarae asked with a bright smile. Despite her seemingly chipper expression, though, there was a dangeorus light in her eyes.

It didnʼt take Sylas much to guess why. Sylas was going to the Demon World. He didnʼt have the best track record when it came to something like that.

”Sure.”

Sylas said, stepping toward the door.

Soon, there was a roar of the Hollow Wing and the skies shook with hurricane-force winds.

Kaelʼs pupils couldnʼt help but constrict.

He knew a Combat Mount when he saw one. One so powerful at that... And Sylas hadnʼt

even used it during the City Lord Trial.

”So. Whatʼs your name?” Elara appeared by Kaelsʼ side again.

For the first time in his life, the mighty Kael felt a headache coming on.
