Sylas was quite calm when he saw his stats. It wasnʼt overwhelming to him at all. If anything, he just felt that it was only natural.

ʼStill too weak…ʼ

He had two stats capped out at under 20 000, but this time it wasnʼt because of machinations of outsiders. This time, it was all him.

Gene-Stat Limit.

He couldnʼt have stats any higher than this because he only had Bronze Genes to back them up. Unless he collected Silver Will and Charisma Genes, or he entered the E-Grade, he would never break that limit.

He had finally reached the ceiling, only to find out that it was far too inferior. He couldnʼt even feel happy about the improvement because it had taken all of his potential to get here.

How much better would the results have been had he improved his foundation more first? How much stronger would he be? How much higher would his stats be?

Sylas closed his eyes and exhaled a breath.

He had done what needed to be done. Had he not, Earth would have crumbled, and he would have never had another chance to reach his full potential because he would be dead.

Sometimes, sacrifices had to be made.

His eyes opened, a dense light of green within them.

His irises had changed, wiggling masses of green of various shades that almost looked like string theory personified, danced within them. They wove in and out of one another, fusing and then diffusing like spontaneously bursting universes.

It didnʼt matter. Heʼd eventually make up for it.

For what they had put him through, he would have plenty of worlds to bathe in blood. Their time would come.

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed. Did he want to ask what Free Chaos was?… Bond?

Now that he thought about it…

[>Bond Free Chaos]

—

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed. Did he want to ask what Free Chaos was?… Bond?

Now that he thought about it…

ʼThe Gene States are… Rigid, Inflexible, Brittle, Soft, Flexible, Malleable, Chaotic, and finally Free… Free being the state where you can absorb a Gene no matter what with 100% success… well, so long as your body has a slot for a Gene that powerful… is it a coincidence that the last two Gene States are Chaotic and Free, while the Level 45 unlock for Taboo Bond is Free Chaos…?ʼ

Sylas looked toward the Madness Key, hesitating. He had a feeling that if he asked this question, it would trigger a big response. The last time he asked the Madness Key a question that was too Taboo, it reset him to a place even worse than before he became a Level Two Madness Disciple.

ʼ… I have to.ʼ

He knew that he had no other options. Whatever the Level 45 version of Taboo Bond was touching one was beyond normal realms of understanding. He had a good feeling that Gralith would have no idea what he was looking at right now, and by extension Szorn certainly wouldnʼt.

Race Quintessence seemed to already be the deepest you could go. There was nothing beyond that that made logical sense. So what in the hell was Free Chaos?

The Madness Key was completely dormant when Sylas made his intention clear. Usually, if the question was taboo, he would feel some movement from his Luck…

But that didnʼt settle him down. If anything, that only made Sylas more apprehensive. He trusted his deductive abilities, and his Luck had been wrong more than just once before.

Something was telling him that what would happen here would be quite… something.

He could only hope that maybe it had a huge price tag associated with it.

But he also knew that sometimes… the Madness Key went ahead and answered because it felt it was something he needed to know, and instead of taking a Gene payment…

It would take a pound of flesh instead.

Sylas could feel his heart beating. His body was so powerful now that the reverberations might have been enough to affect the him who had just stepped into the Summoning cough of blood. A heart this strong back then would have certainly ruptured his veins and arteries.

Now, however… it underlined the hints of apprehension in his mind.

But, when he made a decision, he never hesitated.
