Eternal Thief

Chapter 1496: Get Rid of Hindrance! (2)

”I’m not the E.V.A, but I do know who you are looking for!”

Marquis Kayleigh was stopped in her tracks when she heard Ace’s words, and her eyes narrowed dangerously, clearly not believing any words Ace just said, yet her rational side won out over her instincts.

The main reason she stopped was that she still believed she had Ace under her control, and he couldn’t escape, no matter what tricks he pulled.

”Speak!” She emotionlessly stated that, while on high alert and with Ace in proximity, she was extremely confident in taking him down within a second.

Ace had no intention of resisting; instead, he wanted to give Marquis Kayleigh what she wanted, as he couldn’t have them searching for ’E.V.A’ and spreading this news to the entire Myriad Hollow.

After all, the House Members had already reached their targets, and if their target suddenly became vigilant, it would add more difficulty to their tasks.

As for himself, Ace wasn’t worried since Marquis Kayleigh would search for him not as a thief but as a mysterious expert who managed to escape right under her nose, and it would have nothing to do with thieves, not to mention, there was still that mysterious person who put the Ancient Abyssal Permit in the auction and the Vaultkeeper still hasn’t returned.

The Scamp Gang will become his temporary scapegoat, and they’ll quash any rumors about E.V.A being here. He knew Marquis Kayleigh would also want that, since if Eva were really that famous, she wouldn’t want her anywhere near the Myriad Hollow because it would directly affect her reputation once Dread Duchess got wind of it.

”Lord Marquis asked in the start why I was interested in that inn, right? Then I think you might be aware that I was following a group of demons and an imp among them.

”The reason I went after them was because they stole my treasure back in the tavern, and not just me, but many other drunkards are their victims. You may confirm this at any time.

”Although I allowed them to steal my treasure, I merely wanted to see how many there are, and maybe even found ’E.V.A’ among them if they are associated with them. That’s why I secretly followed them, which led me to that inn.

”Right now, they are probably counting their illicit gains, and all you need to do is catch them in the act. This way you’ll find your thieves, and I’ll clear my name.” Ace stated impassively, revealing everything except his true intentions.

Marquis Kayleigh’s eyes widened slightly as she realized she hadn’t expected this kind of confession from Ace. Despite not wanting to believe him, she had personally witnessed those five strangers and even suspected them.

But they were too weak, and let them go. Thereafter, she suddenly found Ace, and she forgot about those five. Now, after Ace’s reminder, she slightly believed him, and as he said, all she needed to do was to conform to it.

She didn’t even need to go inside personally; all she had to do was unleash her terrifying Abyssal Law Sense, and everything would become clear. But she still wanted to kill him and devour him, which irked her to no end.

Ace was slightly surprised when he felt Marquis Kayleigh’s hesitation, and he was alarmed because she was reacting extremely strangely from the start.

’What is her problem?’ He thought but didn’t dare to confront her and instead calmly said with a hint of mockery, ”What? Don’t tell me the Lord of Law Enforcement Division didn’t even want to give me a chance to prove my innocence?”

Marquis Kayleigh clenched her fist secretly as she suppressed her urge to rip his mouth, which was really hateful and cold, and coldly said, ”Let me see your proof of innocence!”

Without waiting for his reply, her abyssal law sense started to spread towards the inn and enveloped it entirely. As for the defensive formation, they were simply a joke under an Abyssal Grand Lord’s scrutiny. Even Ace could see past that Abyssal Grade-5 formation easily!

At this moment, Marquis Kayleigh searched for that group and soon found them sitting in a room with concealment formation, and even another concealment treasure was activated.

Furthermore, she noticed that the five were gathered around a table, with storage rings on top. She also sensed different Abyssal Marks on those rings, which clearly didn’t belong to the five.

Her expression sank as this instantly proved Ace’s alibi, and as if that wasn’t enough humiliating, she heard the current conversation among them, and her expression went pitch black.

”Hehehe, brother Scamp, do you think those shitty and pushover Law Enforcers will go mad once they discover our ’master work’?”

”Hahaha! They are indeed pushovers, and can only bully the weak, and when they encounter the strong, they’ll tuck their tails between their legs and hide!” The Second Brother lampooned, clearly in a good mood and affected by the Nightmare’s Fang.

The Eldest Brother also chimed in with a disdainful sneer, ”Heh, I’ve heard their boss is an extremely beautiful lady, and everyone feared her. But she didn’t seem much to me, and she probably earned the Duchess’s favor by sheer dumb luck and reached her position. If I were her, I would’ve committed suicide naked in the center of the city!”

”Hahaha! Giving everyone a ’good view’ before her death! Eldest Brother indeed has good taste!” The Fourth Brother laughed heatedly.

On the other hand, Scamp was silent because he was suddenly feeling uneasy for some unknown reason.

”Alright, everyone, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Remember, this is just the start, and we absolutely must not get involved with the Law Enforcers. This time, this might cause some commotion, so we need to act quickly before leaving this place.

”By the time they really took action, we’ll be long gone, and E.V.A will take the blame for us. If our luck is good, E.V.A might come to us and beg to join our Scamp Gang!” Scamp declared, still under the delusion that this measly achievement of his could grab the attention of the Thieving Angel!

However, just when the Scamp Gang members were about to cheer, the room’s temperature instantly plummeted, and abyssal chills crawled down their spines.

”What is going on!?”

Scamp instantly reacted, wanting to circulate his abyssal Qi, but to his horror, he felt it was completely suppressed; he couldn’t even move from his seat, and the same went for the demon brothers.

At this moment, an icy voice, as if seeping from the depths of the abyss, reverberated in the room, ”Scamp Gang, right?! Very Good!”
