Eternal Thief

Chapter 1489: The Thieving Angel! (2)

The heist of Lord Castle of the Bone Mercenary City shocked the entire Abyssal Plains, and this news spread like wildfire. This was also the theft that made the Evil Venerable Angel truly infamous!

Furthermore, not only did she steal the entire treasury of the Bone Mercenary City’s Lord Castle, she carved her infamous symbol of ten angelic wings on the highest tower of the castle while also leaving words other than her name: ’Your treasures were rotting in your treasury, so I took them...No need to thank me~.’

Rumor has it that after the City Lord saw those words, he was so angry that he vomited a massive amount of blood before he fainted on the spot!

After this event, everyone truly started to fear the name ’E.V.A’ and hid their treasures in places that couldn’t be found easily, or sent them back to their main headquarters.

Although the top powers like the Evernight Council didn’t fear the E.V.A, those other powers who were relatively weaker or on the same level as the Bone Mercenary City panicked as they were afraid that the vile thief would visit them next.

However, after that massive heist, the E.V.A suddenly vanished without any trace, and it’s been years since her last appearance. The Bone Mercenary City’s City Lord was still searching for her and had placed a massive bounty on her head or any clues about her whereabouts.

The other powers still harbored thoughts about recruiting her, and they also had bounties on her, but there was still no trace of her, as if she had vanished in thin air.

But now, after hearing the Black Hall Minister’s report, Marquis Kayleigh became vigilant as she finally understood the Black Hall Minister dared to disturb her. Because if the source of these thieveries was really that infamous E.V.A, then they had to take it seriously before this matter blew out of proportion.

Not only was the Obsidian Myriad Kingdom different from the Bone Mercenary City, as it was a branch power of the Evernight Council, the strongest power of the Abyssal Plains, and the presiding authority here was the Dread Duchess, a member of the King Circle of the Evernight Council.

If an incident like the Bone Mercenary City were to occur here, it would be a massive disaster as the Evernight Council would be humiliated, and no one would be able to escape from punishment, not even the Dread Duchess.

As the Lord of the Law Enforcement Division, the first person who would suffer the wrath of the Dread Duchess would be none other than Marquis Kayleigh!

With a solemn expression, Marquis Kayleigh asked, ”Tell me the details of your investigation. It might be some scoundrel trying to emulate the E.V.A’s methods and deliberately creating chaos in the Kingdom. After all, similar events have been created by opposition parties in enemy territories. But they were only minor incidents as emulating that thief’s methods is nearly impossible!”

The Black Hall Minister smiled wryly as he replied, ”I’m aware of those events, so I thoroughly investigated this time since it could be a false alarm. However, the similarities in those thefts are alarmingly similar. Although this imitator didn’t leave behind those etched abyss gems, they were able to remove storage rings from their victims seamlessly.

”One of those victims also happened to be an Abyssal Guardian, and according to him, his storage ring vanished while he was looking at it!

”Even if this is an imitator, they seemed to have figured out the hidden method of the E.V.A that even the Evernight Council couldn’t thoroughly emulate. This is nothing but bad news, whether this is the E.V.A or some scoundrel!”

A hint of killing intent flashed in Marquis Kayleigh’s eyes as she knew the gravity of this situation. After all, just as the Black Hall Minister implied, whether it was the real deal or not, they had to apprehend the culprit before rumors started to appear quickly. The people began to doubt the authority of the Council and the Duchess.

”What are the locations of these incidents, and how many victims do we have?” Marquis Kayleigh coldly questioned.

The Black Hall Minister hesitated before he gritted his teeth and replied, ”The locations are in the outer circle of the Myriad Hallow, and the thief is very cunning, never staying in one place. As for the number of victims...they are already 48!”

”What?!” Marquis Kayleigh’s expression changed as massive spiritual pressure gushed out of her body and crushed down the Black Hall Minister, ”And you’re only telling this to me now?!”

The Black Hall Minister was pale as he felt like a mountain crushing down on him at this moment, and quickly said, ”Please restrain your anger, my lord! I only heard this report a few hours ago and came to you as soon as I finished investigating!”

Marquis Kayleigh pursed her lips as she knew blaming the Black Hall Minister wouldn’t lead to anything, and right now, she needed to respond quickly.

”Have your men secretly spread out in the entire streets of the Myriad Hollow. If you lack manpower, borrow it from other halls. Furthermore, thoroughly inspect everyone entering and exiting the capital, regardless of their identity, and utilize the city’s formations to their fullest potential.

”Any suspicious person, detain them. If they resist, use force; if they try to flee, kill them without mercy!” Marquis Kayleigh coldly ordered without hesitation, knowing she had to be decisive right now or the situation might escalate.

Furthermore, she really wanted to skin that person alive who dared to cause trouble in the Duchess’s territory.

The Black Hall Minister solemnly kowtowed, ”Subordinate obeyed!”

The next moment, he vanished as he was also in a hurry to quickly implement thought methods as soon as possible because if the Marquis Kayleigh were to be blamed, she would go to find trouble with him.

Alone in the hall, Marquis Kayleigh no longer had the mood to continue her rune crafting, and she even started to feel uneasy.

’Should I report this to Her Lordship? But what if this is just a false alarm? However, if it isn’t, her lordship might blame me...’

Marquis Kayleigh was in a huge dilemma, and after struggling for a moment, a hint of resolve shone in her eyes, ’I’ll personally go and see first which scoundrel is causing trouble. If I couldn’t find them and another theft happened, I’ll directly report it to her highness!’

After making up her mind, Marquis Kayleigh secretly left the Hollow Ring and entered the Myriad Hollow while hiding her identity!
