Eternal Thief

Chapter 1468: Finally Settled

The moment the Evernight Devil King left, the council members sighed in relief since the pressure from the Abyssal King was too much to bear, and they were afraid of making any mistake.

The Dread Duchess was the calmest of them all, and she looked towards the other Dukes and Duchesses and smirked, ”Alright, everyone, our work isn’t over yet. Gather whatever is left and search the remnants of the Ghost King’s hideout. If there’s anything suspicious, collect it and submit it to the council.”

Except for the Half-Abyssal Kings, the other council members quickly bowed in affirmation and proceeded to clear up the battlefield.

Although the lure formation was still intact, the moment the Evernight Devil King stopped operating it, cracks began to appear. It was clear that if not for the Evernight Devil King’s profound cultivation base, the lure formation would’ve been destroyed by the Ghost King entirely.

Nonetheless, since the formation was still intact, it could be repaired, and they didn’t need to spend a massive amount of resources rebuilding it.

Moreover, the tower prison was a high-grade treasure, and even in pieces, it remained extremely precious, as all had witnessed how the Ghost King used it with the Heavenly Ghost Formation and almost destroyed the lure formation.

As for the opinion of the other Dukes, they pretend as if they didn’t exist. After all, everything has personally witnessed how pleased the Evernight Devil King was with the Dread Duchess. They all knew she was going to rise soon within the King Circle, and she may even have surpassed Midnight Duke and Darkwise Duke once she claims the teaching of the Devil King.

”My Lords, if there’s nothing else, I will be leaving first with Nomad. As for Nomad’s reward, the Evernight Sanctuary Invitation, please send it to my kingdom. I’ll be personally escorting him to the Evernight Sanctuary.” Dread Duchess smilingly stated.

She wasn’t behaving apprehensively anymore and had regained her confidence. After all, the result was already in front of everyone, now she didn’t need to fear backlash from King Circle, and they won’t dare to obstruct her either.

”Do as you please.” The Midnight Duke grunted and left after glancing at Ace for a fleeting moment.

”You have indeed done a huge service to the council and the Evernight Devil King. Please continue to support the council.” The Darkwise Duke impassively said, and no one can tell what his actual thoughts were before he looked at Ace and nodded, ”You also perform well, young Nomad. When you visit the Sanctuary, come and visit me in the Evernight Chronicle Hall. I’ll give an opportunity.”

Ace was startled as he wasn’t expecting this unexpected windfall, but he was still wary of this mysterious Darkwise Duke. Nonetheless, he quickly thanked the latter profusely for his favor.

The Darkwise Duke turned into ethereal mist and left towards the center of the lure formation.

However, unexpectedly, the Enchantress Demon Duchess suddenly jumped towards the Dread Duchess and locked her arms around the Dread Duchess’s, and said in a spoiled tone, ”Big sis Varathia, how about inviting me over to play?”

’Who is your big sis, you ancient hag?!’

The Dread Duchess shuddered as if a mouse had encountered a cat, and quickly broke free from her clutches.

”Ahem, please maintain the decorum, Lord Duchess.” She sounded frustrated as she quickly made an excuse, ”It would be my kingdom’s honor to house you, Lord Duchess. But we still need permission to enter each other’s territory. As long as the council allows it, you are welcome any time.”

The Dread Duchess wasn’t just making this up, as it was true. A half-abyssal king can’t enter another half-abyssal king’s territory without the council’s permission. It was done to maintain the stability of the Evernight Council.

The Enchantress Demon Duchess couldn’t refute this statement, so she could only act spoiled like a child and stomp on the ground, ”Don’t worry, now that you are going to the Sanctuary, I’ll meet you there.”

’Please don’t.’ Dread Duchess silently prayed in her heart, but still managed a polite smile, which was forced.

The Enchantress Demon Duchess then looked at Ace, making the latter tremble as he could feel a chill down his spine, ’This woman is dangerous...’

”Hehehe, little fella, we’ll meet again...” The Enchantress Demon Duchess didn’t try anything since the Dread Duchess was completely on guard against her, and she might behave frivolously; she was extremely cunning and shrewd.

As for the Corpse Duke, he politely exchanged some words with the Dread Duchess and left without looking at Ace. He almost seemed timid and afraid of the Dread Duchess.

The Dread Duchess sighed with a hint of exhaustion, but when she looked at Ace, the excitement in her heart inflated as she quickly walked over to him and said, ”You have done me a huge favor this time. Don’t worry, I’ll claim more rewards from you and personally go with you to the sanctuary.”

’Don’t tell me she’s going to stick with me from now on?’

Ace suddenly had a bad proposition about the Dread Duchess’s new attitude towards him. But he can’t just tell her to back off.
”I’m very flattered, but you don’t need to trouble yourself too much. I can protect myself.” Ace respectfully stated.

The Dread Duchess scoffed as if offended by his words, ”What? Are you not satisfied with this Duchess’s company? Or maybe you prefer the company of my little disciple?”

Ace quickly denied when he felt a faint chill emitting from the Dread Duchess when she mentioned ’Eva’ and denied, ”N-no, I won’t dare. Miss Evil Diva is too good for me, and I’m not worthy of someone like her.”

”As long as you know.” The Dread Duchess nodded, very pleased with Ace’s self-awareness.

However, this only made Ace unhappy and annoyed, and he wanted to declare his actual status as Eva’s husband. Yet he can only suffer in silence.

Afterward, the Dread Duchess led Ace back to the branch node and returned to the Obsidian Myriad Kingdom.

”The Evernight Sanctuary Invitation will take some time to arrive; you may return to the same cultivation chamber. Once everything is settled, I’ll find you. I also have some matters to deal with before I go to the sanctuary.” The Dread Duchess instructed before sending Ace away, and the Vaultkeeper was already waiting for him behind the secret underground chamber’s door.

Ace was more than happy to get away from the Dread Duchess since he wanted to inspect the World Space Ring again, and also start cultivating the technique of the Veilborn race as soon as possible.

The Vaultkeeper didn’t inquire about what happened after Ace left with the Dread Duchess, but Ace could tell that the Vaultkeeper seemed even more respectful towards him than before.

Once Ace was back in the cultivation chamber within the Duskmire Vault, he quickly started inspecting the World Space Ring.

Ace frowned slightly when he saw the massive hole in the center of the World Space left behind by the tower prison, and some of the spirit herbs close to the tower’s vicinity had been either destroyed or damaged.

Not only that, but the special arrays around the spirit herb fields also seemed to be stopping working, and the spirit nectar pond was 10% dried out, which was the result of the Ghost King’s struggle to keep the prison tower within the world space, making Ace resentful towards the Ghost King even more.

”Well, although you lost around 35% of the valuables inside the world space ring, and the treasure was also damaged, you still gained more than what could’ve been if that Ghost King was present in the World Space, right?”

As if sensing Ace’s displeasure, Pixy suddenly appeared within the World Space and consoled him.

Ace’s expression improves as Pixy has a valid point, and he has already taken revenge on the Ghost King while also profiting from the latter’s disaster.

Furthermore, seeing Pixy, Ace suddenly remembered something as he sternly asked, ”How many TP were used?”

Pixy smiled ambiguously as she said, ”Not much, it took you around 20 seconds to pull out the treasure tower...so yeah, little master only spent 2.9 billion TP!”

Ace felt a hint of pain in his heart when he heard he had just spent almost three billion TP to expel an Ascension King with his refined treasures, and that was only because the Ghost King didn’t have a body. He had merged his soul with the treasure spirit of the Heavenly Ghost Formation, making him a part of the treasure as well.

At this moment, Pixy made an unexpected remark, ”Besides, those insects seem rather interesting.”

Ace was startled, ”What insects?”

Pixy almost seemed surprised and gazed towards the sky or Ace, strangely, ”You do know that there is another space specifically for keeping spirit beasts or such lifeforms, right?”

Only then did Ace remember that he had been frightened by the Ghost King so much that he forgot to explore the beast space within the World Space Ring!
