Chapter 2800: Chapter 2800: The Military Received Information From An Anonymous Source

Fearing Yu Qi might catch a cold, Long Hui moved with practised gentleness, carefully lifting her upright against his chest. He used a soft towel to thoroughly dry her hair, ensuring not a single drop of moisture remained.

Once satisfied, he expertly swapped her damp bathrobe for a set of soft, comfortable pyjamas.

Only after ensuring she was completely cosy and taken care of did Long Hui gently lay her back against the pillows, pulling the duvet over her shoulders as she continued to sleep peacefully.

…

The weekend finally arrived. Yu Qi worked late into the night before heading home, so utterly exhausted that she slept like a log.

The next morning, Yu Qi woke up feeling unusually refreshed. She slowly opened her eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling for a few seconds. Her body felt warm and comfortable, and she could not remember when she had fallen into such a deep sleep. She turned her head and noticed that Long Hui was still sleeping beside her.

His breathing was steady, and his handsome face looked much more relaxed than usual. One of his arms was resting loosely around her waist, as if he had unconsciously pulled her closer during the night.

Yu Qi smiled softly. She carefully tried to move his arm so she could get out of bed without disturbing him.

However, the moment she moved, Long Hui’s arm tightened around her waist.

“Where are you going?” His sleepy voice grumbled against her shoulder.

Yu Qi froze.

“You are awake?” Yu Qi whispered.

“Not completely.” Long Hui murmured.

“Then why are you holding me hostage?” Yu Qi asked, glancing at the hand wrapped securely around her waist.

“Instinct,” Long Hui grinned foolishly, eyes still closed.

Yu Qi rolled her eyes.

“Let me go. I need to get ready.” Yu Qi said.

“It is still early.” Long Hui protested, pulling Yu Qi closer to his chest.

Yu Qi glanced toward the curtains. The morning sunlight had already begun to seep through the gaps.

“It does not look early to me.” Yu Qi countered.

“You worked the entire night yesterday. You should sleep a little longer.” Long Hui said, opening his eyes slightly to look at her.

“I already slept for quite a long time.” Yu Qi replied.

“Not enough.” Long Hui insisted.

Yu Qi sighed.

“Brother Hui, remember, we have work to do today.” Yu Qi argued.

“Work can wait.” Long Hui said.

“Shenxie Research Centre?” Yu Qi reminded him.

Long Hui’s expression changed slightly, his playful mood shifting instantly when he heard the name.

“Exactly,” Yu Qi smiled, seizing the upper hand. “You were the one who said our weekend was booked.”

With a reluctant sigh, Long Hui loosened his grip. “Fine. Go.”

Yu Qi quickly slippedout of bed before he could change his mind and darted into the bathroom. After washing up and changing into casual attire, she stepped back into the bedroom.

Long Hui had already gotten out of bed and was changing his clothes. He wore a black shirt and dark trousers, looking completely different from the sleepy man who had been lying beside her moments ago.

“Are you ready?” Yu Qi tilted her head.

“Almost.” Long Hui replied, buttoning his cuffs and grabbing his watch. “Let’s eat first.”

“Let’s grab breakfast first.” Yu Qi stated.

They went to the kitchen to prepare a simple meal, and ten minutes later, breakfast was ready. Both of them sat down opposite each other and began eating. While enjoying their food, they also began to talk about Shenxie Research Centre.

They wanted to go to the Shenxie Research Centre during the weekend because it was the time when the Shenxie Research Centre was open to the public. They allowed people to come and visit the Shenxie Research Centre.

Well, of course, there would be restrictions on where they could go. A guide would accompany the visitors during the tour. The visitors could also ask the guide questions about the Shenxie Research Centre. However, they might not be able to obtain specific details about the experiments being conducted inside the Shenxie Research Centre.

While eating, Yu Qi suddenly remembered something.

“Brother Hui, did the military give you any information about the Shenxie Research Centre?” Yu Qi asked.

“Not much.” Long Hui shook his head. He took out his phone and opened a file. “They confirmed that the research centre has been operating normally for years. It has a good reputation in the medical field and has cooperated with several hospitals and universities.”

“Then how did they discover the underground facility?” Yu Qi asked.

“They did not.” Long Hui stated plainly.

“Then how did they know?” Yu Qi raised an eyebrow.

“The military received information from an anonymous source.” Long Hui answered.

“Oh… Anonymous?” Yu Qi narrowed her eyes slightly.

“Hmm…” Long Hui nodded, handing the phone over to her.

Yu Qi took the phone and looked through the information carefully.

“They only provided the location and claimed that something suspicious was being hidden underneath the research centre.” Long Hui continued.

“That’s interesting. The person who sent this information knew about the underground facility, but they did not provide any details about what was inside.” Yu Qi remarked with a light chuckle.

Long Hui nodded in agreement.

“That means either they don’t know everything…” Yu Qi began.

“…Or they deliberately left something out.” Long Hui completed the sentence.

Their eyes met, both of them reaching the same conclusion. Someone was watching Shenxie Research Centre, and that person might know much more than the military.

Yu Qi returned the phone to Long Hui. Long Hui took the phone from Yu Qi and put it into his pocket.

“Do you think this is related to Master Liang?” Yu Qi said.
