Chapter 1848: Waiting For Long Hui

So, Yu Qi followed Long Hui to the military camp to submit the report. The soldier saluted Long Hui and nodded at Yu Qi. Yu Qi replied by nodding back to the soldier. Yu Qi was told to wait at the canteen while Long Hui went to submit his report. She nodded and went to the canteen. She just ordered a cup of tea. It was 8.30 p.m. Not many people around the canteen except for the canteen worker. While she was sitting there drinking her tea, she was greeted by a man. Yu Qi knew that this man was not a soldier when she looked at his body. She assumed this man was the canteen employee.

”Hello, Miss.” The man greeted Yu Qi.

Yu Qi did not want to be rude. So, she responded by nodding. She returned to drink her tea.

It seemed the man misunderstood her response. He sat in the opposite seat.

”You are not a soldier, right?” The man asked.

Yu Qi nodded. ”I know it. Such a beautiful woman like you should not be a soldier. It would ruin your beauty.” The man stated.

Yu Qi just listened to the man talking. It seemed this man looked down at the female soldier. He kept talking about the women should not work as a soldier. ”The woman should be quitting her work when she gets married. Only then, she could focus on her husband, kids and house chores.” The man was stating and pushing his opinion on Yu Qi.

Yu Qi seriously did not understand why this man came to her and started talking about this topic. However, she could feel that this man had an ancient time mindset that thought that men were superior to women. ”By the way, why are you here? Are you waiting for someone? Is it your family? Your father, perhaps your brother?” The man asked.

”I am indeed waiting for someone.” Yu Qi said.

The manʼs eyes lifted up when he heard the womanʼs voice.

”Your voice is quite good.” The man said. ”So, who are you waiting for?”

Actually, the man fell in love at first love with Yu Qi. He was thinking of pursuing Yu Qi. So, since someone from her family was a soldier here, he should get into his good side. It would look better for him in front of her Familyʼs eyes. That was what he thought right now.

”I am waiting for my fiance.” Yu Qi said.

Crack! The man could feel that his heart had been shattered. ”Your fiance?” The man asked for one more confirmation.

”Yes.” Yu Qi nodded.

”What are you doing here? Not working?” A middle-aged woman shouted from the counter.

It seemed the shout was for the man in front of Yu Qi. The middle-aged woman approached. ”Oh, Doctor Tang. It has been a while.” The middle-aged woman greeted Yu Qi.

”Yes, how have you been?” Yu Qi greeted the middle-aged woman back. ”I am fine. After your treatment on my back, my back has been good.” The middle-aged woman said.

She was one of Yu Qiʼs patients. She suffered from back pain for a while. After being told by others to go to get a medical checkup, they met each other. Yu Qi healed her back pain. Well, Yu Qi did not know that the middle-aged woman worked at the military campʼs canteen until she met the middle-aged woman when she was here last time. The middle-aged woman recognized Yu Qi. She thanked Yu Qi so much for the treatment. ”Oh, you must be here waiting for your fiancee.” The middle-aged woman smiled.

”Yes. He went to get the work done. After this, we will leave.” Yu Qi said.

”I see... I see...” The middle-aged woman nodded.

”Auntie, do you know her and her fiance?” The man who had forgotten his existence asked the middle-aged woman.

”Of course. Doctor Tang is an excellent doctor. She cured my back pain. Not only that, she is a top person in the big company. As for her fiance, he is such a wonderful person. He is also a good-looking soldier. You should know him too. ” The middle-aged woman said.

Yu Qi was kind of embarrassed when someone praised her like that. ”Who?” The man was curious to know about Yu Qiʼs fiance.

”It is Colonel Long.” The middle-aged woman stated.

Crack! Once again his heart shattered. Well, if it was Long Hui, there was no way that he would win against Long Hui.

The middle-aged woman suddenly remembered why she had come here. ”You, go and do your work.” The middle-aged woman said to the man.

The man became heartbroken. He thought he would have a chance with a beautiful woman like her. ”Before you go.” Yu Qi stopped the man.

The man turned around and waited for Yu Qi to talk.

”You should think your mindset. We are not in the 19th century when a woman needed to stay home and obey her husband. We, the woman, the woman 22nd century could manage a company. Just because we get married, we should quit our job? Please, donʼt think like that. Women should be able to build up their own career too.” Yu Qi stated while looking straight at the manʼs eyes. The man got a final blow. He turned around and walked away mindlessly. ”What is going on with him?” The middle-aged woman was confused.
