Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 449: Chapter 449: I Believe You, Please Help Me

Perhaps the warning had taken effect, or maybe everyone realized that continuing in chaos would only waste more time, not to mention it was unsafe for the pregnant women with their big bellies.

At this moment, whether they were pregnant women or family members, everyone’s forehead was glistening with sweat. The expectant mothers were sweating from unbearable pain, while their families were sweating from anxiety.

Doctor Qiu had just settled those pregnant women when a member of the security team came to report, ”Doctor Qiu, the pregnant women from the forest farm are on their way here. Their situation is the same as ours. Qiao Tuan asked me to let you know to prepare for their arrival.”

Doctor Qiu had just finished his current task and planned to rest when another assignment arrived. ”Alright, I’ll make arrangements right away,” he said.

With only one empty ward remaining at the back, they had to tidy up the treatment rooms at the front. Doctor Qiu then said, ”Nurse Chen, clean up the two treatment rooms for now. We’ll use them to accommodate the patients from the forest farm shortly.”

Nurse Chen, upon hearing this, couldn’t help but express her displeasure, ”Doesn’t the forest farm have a health center? Why are they sending patients here? Do they want to work us to death?”

Doctor Qiu knew she spoke without thinking, but considering the urgency of the situation, she lacked a sense of dedication. ”We are in a special situation now,” he said. ”I know everyone is exhausted, but please, let’s overcome this together.”

Having said that, he walked towards the back ward.

Yunyi was in the midst of examining a pregnant woman. ”Breathe in, that’s it, don’t be nervous, nothing bad will happen,” she said.

After speaking, she turned to the family member beside her, ”Her due date was expected in the next few days, and given the fright she must have had from today’s incident, you all need to pay extra attention.”

After the examination, she said, ”Her condition is good now; there’s no need for too much concern.”

She put away her stethoscope, only to see Doctor Qiu entering. Just by looking at Doctor Qiu’s expression, Yunyi knew there was something he wanted to discuss with her.

Following him outside, she heard Doctor Qiu say, ”Doctor Chu, take a break for now. The ones from the forest farm will be here any minute.”

After all, Doctor Qiu couldn’t treat these pregnant women’s conditions himself; he relied entirely on Doctor Chu.

Yunyi understood his good intentions. ”I got it, thank you,” she replied.

She indeed needed to conserve her strength. Returning to her office, she made herself a cup of milk and drank it down, listening to the noises outside.

It wasn’t long before she heard the sound of a tractor.

Getting to her feet, she walked outside, only to hear a man shouting, ”Don’t push! Get off one by one! Safety first!”

Soon, the first pregnant woman got off the vehicle, her family member in a panic, shouting, ”Doctor, doctor!”

Yunyi was already waiting in the treatment room. Nurse Chen, likely exhausted as well, said gruffly, ”Stop shouting, follow me.”

Though she didn’t sound too friendly, she still reached out to help the family member support the groaning expectant mother towards the treatment room. ”Hang in there a little longer,” she encouraged.

After helping the family member get the woman onto the bed, Nurse Chen, who was assisting Yunyi, said, ”Family members, please wait outside.”

The man was insistent. ”I want to stay with my wife; she’ll be scared without me.”

Yunyi didn’t stop her work. ”Let him stay,” she said. ”At least he can provide some comfort to the expectant mother.”

After all, the women from the forest farm had been in labor longer than those from the Agricultural Reclamation Group. Their condition wasn’t very good, and their emotions were on the verge of collapse. Without family members by their side, they would be even more distressed, which wouldn’t be good for the babies in their wombs.

The family member, upon hearing Yunyi’s words, expressed his thanks, ”Thank you, thank you.”

But when he got a clear view of Yunyi’s face, he asked with confusion, ”Is she the doctor who will treat my wife?”

Nurse Chen nodded. ”Yes, our Doctor Chu may be young, but her medical skills are exceptional. Rest assured.”

The man wanted to say something else when Yunyi interjected, ”If you can stay here quietly with the expectant mother, you can stay. But if you cause any trouble, please leave. Of course, you also have the option to refuse treatment and take your wife away.”

The man didn’t know how to respond for a moment. He looked at his wife on the bed, sweating profusely from pain, and then at Yunyi, feeling very torn.

Just then, the pregnant woman on the bed spoke up, ”Doctor, I can’t take it anymore! I trust you, please help me.”

Yunyi had already prepared everything. Nurse Chen helped unbutton the woman’s clothes, and without seeking the man’s opinion further, Yunyi immediately began administering acupuncture.
