Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 749: Prodigy of Saratoga

Back in the city of Blackshore, the battle between Nylian Feno and Barnabas Booth was drawing to a close.

All the streets, buildings, and any structure around their battlefield had been reduced to rubble. One could even see several burnt craters formed from the destruction of their spells.

The elven councilor of Ravenfell had already taken care of one of his opponents—the Rank 3 Magus from the Cult of Bones.

Now all that remained was the one-eyed old Magus who was one of the three leaders of the Umbra Thieves.

While Nylian had sustained hardly any injuries in this battle, the same couldnʼt be said about Barnabas Booth.

The one-eyed Magus was kneeling on both knees, panting for air, bleeding from the mouth. He had cuts all over his body thanks to the elfʼs wind-related spells.

Moreover, the manʼs right arm was also missing. It was only a matter of time before he died.

Nylian Feno stood proudly before the man, his blade pointed at him. His lips parted and he flatly muttered, ”Youʼve fought well, Magus.”

”Fuck off!” Barnabas grumbled weakly. ”Just shut up and… let me die in peace.”

Nylianʼs eyes narrowed and he asked, ”Any last words?”

But before the one-eyed Magus could answer, their attention was suddenly drawn towards the ocean.

THUNDER!!!

A terrifying resounding sound echoed from that direction. Nylian had turned his head just in time to see a massive pillar of lightning descend from the sky.

His expression turned solemn and he couldnʼt help but think, Adam…

Just what kind of battle are you fighting there?

For the last several minutes, he had been hearing extremely loud explosive sounds coming from the youthʼs battlefield. It even seemed that there was no resting time between each spell.

Nylian couldnʼt even begin to wonder just how intense the fight taking place there was.

Furthermore, he had also previously sensed the arrival of a very dark and deathly magic energy, which he assumed to be yet another undead summon, except this one was far more powerful than anything the necromancers had summoned before.

He was shocked to learn that Adam was even able to last for this long!

Regardless, he had to finish things up quickly before he could even think of assisting the raven-haired youth.

Just as he was gazing at Adamʼs battlefield, his eyes suddenly narrowed and a cold light flashed in them.

Then, he ruthlessly swung his blade.

THUD!

A severed arm clasping onto a poisoned dagger fell to the ground.

Nylian turned to look at Barnabas with a cold and indifferent expression. The man had just tried to land a sneak attack on him despite being on the verge of death.

The elf couldnʼt help but admire his tenacity. Thus, he asked again. ”Any last words?”

Barnabas Booth gazed at his severed hand with a bitter smile. There was no pain or agony reflected on his face. No, it only reflected regret.

He heaved a deep sigh and lowered his head, softly muttering. ”Make it quick…”

SLASH!

With another thud, the one-eyed Magusʼ decapitated head fell to the ground. Nylian cast only a brief gaze at it before shifting his attention to the other battlefields in the city.

The battle between the armed forces of Ravenfell and Umbra Thieves and the Cult of Bones was almost concluding.

Thanks to the numerous serpents that Adam had summoned, the Ravenfell forces had outnumbered and overpowered their enemies effortlessly.

Moreover, when Nylian saw the brutal and bloodthirsty methods that the summoned serpents utilized to kill and devour their enemies, he couldnʼt help but wonder, Just where did Adam contract so many creatures from…

The outcome of that battlefield was already decided.

The elf then turned his gaze toward the battle between Daniel Ranzenberg and Wendell Cross.

The battle between these two Mana Vortex Magi seemed to be at a stalemate, but Nylian could tell that it was only a matter of time before Ranzenberg clutched the victory.

After all, he knew the man to be a powerful and dependable Magus. Even though he might appear old, Daniel Ranzenberg was, in fact, one of the more powerful Magi on the Council of Seven.

So Nylian decided to not involve himself in that battle. Then, he turned his attention towards the last battlefield—the battle between Brigham Flynn and Kissinger.

His eyes narrowed and he couldnʼt help but recall what Kissinger had mentioned at the beginning of the battle—about Brigham Flynn betraying others for his own benefit.

Everyone in the council knew the Flynn Patriarch to be a greedy fellow, so they were hardly surprised by Kissingerʼs claims.

But now was not the time to let personal feelings get in the way.

Nylian was a rational man, so he didnʼt give in to those feelings. He noticed that in their battle, Brigham Flynn was on the losing end and was faring poorly against Kissinger.

However, Nylian knew that the Flynn Patriarch was also in possession of several artifacts. Although that did not guarantee his survival, there was nothing Nylian was going to do about it.

He had already come to a decision.

”The survival of Adam Constantine is more critical for the bright future of Ravenfell and Saratoga,” he solemnly muttered under his breath.

His gaze crossed several miles before landing on Brigham Flynn, who was in an extremely miserable state as he fought his arch-nemesis, Kissinger.

Nylianʼs expression grew grave and he ultimately decided to leave the Flynn Patriarch on his own.

He had decided that Adamʼs survival took precedence over Brighamʼs!

So the next moment, he bolted in the direction of the Galestine Ocean, fully intending to assist Adam Constantine in his battle against the remaining cultists.

…

The surface of the ocean snaked with lightning for a long time. Adamʼs previous spell had wreaked quite the havoc.

If it wasnʼt for the several defensive artifacts that Malcolm and the two necromancers had on them, their current situation would have been much worse.

Despite that fact, they were still greatly injured by the lightning spell!

All three of them stood on the surface of the water, small arcs of lighting snaking across their slightly charred clothes and body.

The three of them gazed at the perpatrator with dark expressions on their faces, their eyes oozing with bloodlust.

Adam was sitting on a piece of frozen boulder held up in mid-air by several Magus Hands.

His one leg was dangling in the air, while the other was folded. He rested his elbow on the folded knee, and then rested his chin on his hand, gazing at the cultists in amusement.

Suddenly, his eyes narrowed and he turned towards the city.

There, he could see a figure running across the surface of the water at breakneck speed, leaving behind tidal waves in his wake.

Recognizing who this person was, the youthʼs lips curled up into a smirk.

He then turned to Malcolm and the two necromancers and flatly stated, ”You sense that, donʼt you?”

The cultists turned in the direction of the figure rushing towards them with boundless fury, their expressions turning extremely solemn.

Adam rose to his feet, and declared the arrival of his ally.

”That is the man known as the Prodigy of Saratoga!”
