Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 679: Demonic Bloodlust

Adamʼs expression turned extremely solemn when he sensed a vicious attack being aimed straight towards his head.

His heart turned cold as he thought to himself at that moment, This bastard is trying to kill me!

Just when Ives Ballardʼs mana-coated fist was about to smash through Adamʼs head, the youth side-stepped. He then pivoted his body, turning around, and tightly grabbing onto the manʼs arms.

His expression turned ruthless and he performed the one-arm shoulder throw technique, slamming Ives Ballard into the ground before him and dislocating his shoulder.

BAM!

”Aghh!!” Ives Ballard had the wind knocked out of him as he was slammed to the ground.

Instead of reacting to the pain in his shoulder, however, he was more worried about the immense embarrassment that he would have to go through now.

He, a Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus, was so easily countered by a Rank 2 - Mana Liquefaction Magus!

If others heard of this, what would they think? That such a weak and pathetic man was the Grand Duke of Ravenfell and one of its Councilors?

He couldnʼt have it! No, he couldnʼt!

Ives gritted his teeth and was about to get on his feet and pounce on Adam again, but right at that moment, he caught a glimpse of the wrathful expression of the raven-haired youth.

When Ives laid eyes on him, his insides turned cold. The killing intent Adam was radiating was unlike anything he had ever felt before.

It was suffocating! It was tyrannical!

Even the ones around Adam felt a cold chill run up their spines. Daniel Ranzenberg was the first to react. With the help of his astonishing speed, he immediately arrived behind Adam. He then grabbed his head and slammed him to the ground.

BAM!

Cracks formed on the ground as Daniel pressed Adamʼs head against it. He then grabbed Adamʼs hand and placed his knee on the youthʼs spine, tightly pinning him to the ground and immobilizing him.

”You werenʼt planning on killing a Councilor of the City, were you, boy?” Daniel coldly muttered those words. ”Such demonic bloodlust... How many people must you have killed to acquire such a bloodthirsty aura?”

Adam adjusted his neck and glanced at the man pinning him down. He looked at him deeply for a few moments before the aura around him completely changed.

”Haha,” he laughed awkwardly. ”Forgive me, my lord. My body just reacted on its own. I was purely acting in self-defense.”

”Daniel!! Kill the boy, now!!” Ives Ballard rose to his feet and screamed in absolute fury. He couldnʼt believe he was just outdone by a boy far weaker than him. And as much as he hated to admit it, for a moment, he felt fear in his heart when he looked at the youth.

He stomped toward Adam and Daniel, planning to deliver the killing blow himself. But suddenly, Sabrina appeared before him, preventing him from taking any action.

Ives Ballardʼs eyes were bloodshot and he spat through gritted, ”Sabrina, get out of my way! I must kill this demon this instant! He is a threat to this city! He must die!!”

Sabrinaʼs eyes narrowed and she replied, ”Councilor Ballard, I must remind you to keep your emotions in check. You just attempted murder right in front of me. Would you care to explain?”

”You…” Ives Ballard glanced at the strict Lord Marshall of the city, wondering why she was getting in his way.

He then looked around and saw that everyoneʼs attention was on him at the moment. The sheer embarrassment he was going through right now was overwhelming.

In the end, he gritted his teeth and roared at the top of his lungs, ”Adam Constantine has been complicit in the human trafficking ring operated by the Duskfall Couple and the vile criminal organizations, the Umbra Thieves and the Red Fists!

”Hundreds of innocent women of the city had been abducted in the past years and used in a diabolical bloody ritual where they were sacrificed to an evil entity. Such action is punishable by death!

”And as such, I deemed it necessary to kill him on the spot. However! The boy used demonic techniques to evade my judgment and resist punishment. Councilor Sabrina Benton, I must urge you to deliver justice upon this foul criminal!”

”That is a lie!” Daneli immediately protested. ”If anything, Adam was the one to save—”

However, Sabrina Benton coldly cut him off. ”Silence, elf.”

She then glanced at her fellow councilor and spoke, ”Councilor Ballard, you are far too emotional to deliver any type of judgment right now.”

Then she looked at his shoulder and mocked, ”You might want to get that arm checked soon, councilor. Old age tends to worsen injuries quite a lot.”

”You!!” Ives Ballard glared at Sabrina. The blatant attempt at looking down on him was evident not just to him but to everyone present.

Before he could speak another word, however, Hammon Mcleod walked up to him and gently assured him, ”Councilor Ballard, rest assured. If the boy is found guilty, he, like the rest of the criminals, will be given punishment according to the laws of our city.”

”Hmph!” Ives Ballard snorted in displeasure, all the while staring daggers at Adam who was still pinned down under Daniel Ranzenbergʼs knee.

Meanwhile, Sabrina Benton glanced at her other fellow councilor in the distance, Nylian Feno, and stated, ”Councilor Feno, I would like to borrow your daughter for a moment.”

Nylian, who was hugging Qamara along with his wife, Lenna, looked toward Sabrina and asked with a frown, ”What for?”

When he had heard about the commotion happening in the Duskfall Estate, he was overcome by anxiousness and fear, thinking something might have happened to his precious daughter.

When he learned from the other guests about what had transpired in the Duskfall Manor, he was furious that Adam had taken his daughter into such a dangerous place.

But what made him even angrier was the fact that all the Magi claimed that Adam was the Duskfall coupleʼs guest of honor. Thus, he naturally assumed that the youth had a hand in this vile ritual taking place and that he was planning to do something nefarious to his daughter.

”I wish to confirm the accusations against Adam Constantine,” Sabrina Benton stated matter-of-factly.

”Whatʼs there to even confirm?” Lenna, Qamaraʼs mother, coldly stated. ”It is evident what Adam was truly up to and what his plans for our daughter were.”

She stared at Adam with utmost hostility and spat coldly, ”According to everyoneʼs testimony, he was cooperating with the Duskfalls, and as such, must be severely punished—”

”Mother,” Qamara interrupted her, her words barely a whisper.

”What?” Lenna snapped.

Qamara fidgeted with her fingers for a few moments, finding the courage to speak. With complicated emotions, she finally spoke up, ”Adam, he… heʼs innocent!”
