Chapter 569: Breakthrough to Intermediate S-rank!

[I had committed a crime by betraying him... I had committed a sin and I deserved the punishment... but I do not hope this eternal suffering on my children too...]

[Everyday... I am forced to eat them... every day, I am forced to watch my children die in front of me... it’s not something I can accept...]

[It’s been too long... I hoped for mercy...]

The shadow king had betrayed King Allen, but he had already suffered enough inside the spirit realm; he wanted to finally be forgiven of this eternal suffering.

[If not anything... I wanted to be killed in an honourable battle at the very least...]

The giant shadow dragon and each of the adult dragons had all forgotten their names by now.

They had no identity left; they had no happy memories left that could bring them solace.

[I hoped that he would return victorious and will free me of this curse one day... I wanted a better future for the next generation...]

Rio could not help or say anything in return.

The giant distorted tree was unable to deactivate its world authority; it was unable to die, as miasma wouldn’t let it die, and even Rio could not heal or kill him, as he could not bypass that powerful world authority.

The shadow dragon king had lost his focus after Rio interrupted him, and now that he has already found out that King Allen will likely never return, his last bit of hope has been thoroughly crushed.

[You are still young it seems... once I lose all sanity, leave this place... I don’t know what will I do after I lose all control to the abominable miasmic corruption!]

Rio already expected that final SSS-rank being to be related to the sea of endless miasma, but now that it has been confirmed, Rio has become more cautious of miasma and its powers.

”I see, I will leave... I am sorry that I had to be the one to bring the sad news to you about King Allen... but I wanted to know about the location of my friend...”

”I am looking for a shadow dragon; her name is ’Elisia Mistilteinn’!”

Rio could feel that the shadow dragon king’s final soul fragments and pure soul fluctuations were starting to fade away.

It won’t be long before it loses its final bit of sanity and goes completely insane.

If that happens, Rio might not be able to find any clues to Ellie’s location.

Hearing the name ’Elisia Mistilteinn,’ all the dragon heads suddenly opened their eyes wide as if they suddenly realized something; a look of shock spread on all of their faces.

Rio even sensed a new powerful emotion rise from the very depths of the soul fluctuations of those merged souls, and that emotion was ’joy.’

[You are saying that Elisia is still alive!? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! AHAHAHAHAH!!!! THANKFULLY!!!!]

[I had lost almost all hope for the shadow dragon race!!! But it turns out!!! There is still one final hope left for us sinners!!!! AHAHAHAHAHA!!!!]

All the dragon heads started laughing in sheer joy and happiness; the entire plateau trembled from their loud laughter.

Some of the heads even started crying tears of happiness; it was almost as if they had finally found their salvation!

The big dragon head of the shadow dragon king smiled as he spoke in a calm voice.

[Elisia, so my lovely daughter is still alive heh... out of all my children, only she’s left alive, but I am happy for her...]

[You said you were her friend? You travelled all the way from the material world to this place just to find her?]

Rio nodded his head as he spoke in his usual emotionless tone.

”I have a friend; he’s a very talented summoner, and Ellisia is his summoned dragon.”

”They have both signed a contract of partnership; Liam ended up in some problem and it’s suspected that his soul has been teleported to Ellisia...”

”I came here looking for them both; I came here to bring them to the material world with me...”

Hearing Rio’s words, the various dragon heads nodded as they spoke.

[I see, it must be the dragon soul binding contract she signed with him... in that scenario if your contractor dies, you can summon their soul to your side and try to save their life...]

[But that kind of contract can only be signed with someone who you trust from the very bottom of your heart... to think Elisia... a shadow dragon managed to find a person to trust so much...]

[That is incredible news... it means that she has a bright future... there are still people who are able to side with shadow dragons even after everything that has happened...]

All the dragon heads had various things to say about the matter, but mainly all of them were very happy that Ellie had found her place in the world with Liam’s help.

The dragon head that belonged to the shadow dragon king and Elisia’s father smiled as he spoke in a gentle tone.

[You crossed a realm almost equivalent to ’Hell’ just for the sake of your friends... you are truly a great person.]

[I see that you are wearing the ’Shadow Robe’, it’s a magical artifact created using the power of shadow dragon’s as an inspiration...]

[The word ’Hell-Walker’ on your cape really does suit you truly... only someone as brave and fearless as you can dare to cross a literal hell just for his loved one’s sake...]

The various dragon heads looked at each other and nodded as they all lined up together at the same time.

[You have done a lot... you have helped us find the truth, you have helped us find hope and salvation, you have helped our future generation find solace...]

[You are worthy of a reward; tell us your name, oh fearless ’Hell-Walker’...]

Rio nodded his head as he sheathed his sword and spoke with his usual emotionless voice.

”I am Rio Flash, a humble swordsman from the human empire!”

At Rio’s words, all the dragon heads smiled, and a powerful soul fluctuation spread in all directions.

[Due to the restrictions of miasma, we can’t do much for you, but we will not let you leave empty-handed either...]

[Oh~ Mighty ’Hell-Walker,’ Oh~ Indomitable ’Anomaly,’ we all bless you with the greatest blessing of all shadow dragons!]

All the dragon heads forcefully suppressed miasma at the same time and used their own soul and life force at the same time to bless Rio with their power.

Rio’s shadow robe suddenly started glowing, and Rio could feel its power surging.

[Ding! Your artifact ’Lamont’s Robe’ (Shadow Robe) has been blessed with the power of dozens of shadow dragon!]

[Ding! The ’Lamont’s Robe’ has been upgraded to the realm of legendary artifacts! Its rank has risen from ’S++’ to ’SS++’!!]

[Ding! The robe has been granted a new name from now on; it’s blessed with the darkest shadows and dark elements, it will be called the ’Hell-Walker’s Robe’!]

All the powers and skills of the shadow robe were enhanced tremendously; now it was so strong that Rio could completely ignore almost all physical damage!

Unless someone used a powerful world authority or highly mastered legendary skill on him, it was impossible to bypass the defenses of this robe anymore!

[Ding! Your title ’Hell-Walker’ has been enhanced tremendously! You have been given the blessing of dozens of shadow dragons!]

[Ding! All of your shadow- and dark elemental-related skills will be strengthened tremendously from now on!]

Rio’s stealth and dark elemental skills improved by several levels in one go.

The pure soul power and life force of dozens of dragons poured into Rio’s body in one go, and Rio directly broke through to the intermediate stage of S-rank in one go!

[Ding! Your physique has been improved and all of your stats have been boosted by the power of soul and life force!]
