Chapter 535: The Cube of Possibilities. Part-1.

Rio had never read anything about this particular weapon in the original novel, and he was also curious about it.

”Its name seems to imply that it can interfere with destiny or something... What kind of weapon is it?”

Kehrid shook his head at Rio’s question and spoke.

”I have never seen it but I have heard that the ’Origin’ grants this weapon to those who it deems worthy enough... I have no idea what it looks like and what it powers are...”

”Don’t be deceived by its name; many weapons and artifacts in the world have misleading names given on purpose. moreover, ’The Sword of Promised Destinies’ is just a ’title,’ not a proper ’true name’...”

Like how ’The Sword of Absolute Destruction’ has the ’true name’ called ’Vinash,’ which literally means ’destruction,’ but ’Astra’ means ’weapon,’ and yet it’s a sword that ’saves’ lives.

’Raksha’ means ’protection,’ yet the title of the sword is ’Cosmic order,’ which means it’s not meant for protection of people but for protection of ’cosmic order.’

Just like how a person can have different titles while having a completely different personality and name, legendary weapons are the same.

They are immensely powerful and overwhelmingly strong.

So strong that they are in fact ’unbreakable’ and ’indestructible.’

Kehrid didn’t make them this strong; the manifestation of the ’laws’ of the ’world’ makes them ’indestructible.’ If you want to destroy these legendary weapons, you will have to destroy that particular ’law’ of the ’world’ itself!

”I wonder if King Allen received the sword of promised destinies, which caused his friendship with ’Raksha’ to break apart...”

Rio couldn’t help but mention this thought to Kehrid, who shrugged his shoulders and said,

”Who knows... It’s not like I can understand what a ’sword’ is thinking, right?”

”By the way, you were saying you were on a journey to look for your friend... Does that mean you came to the dwarf kingdom because you needed the artifact that can work as a ’compass’?”

Kehrid stopped talking about other things and got straight to the point as he gulped down the rest of his beer.

”Yes, I was given information that I might have to look for a certain blacksmith called Fabian who lives near the ’Tower of Sea Gazers,’ and he will arrange the ’artifact’ for me...”

”I don’t know what that artifact actually is though...”

Rio didn’t come to the dwarf nation in a legal way; he didn’t have the option of asking the higher-ups of the nation to give him the artifact he needed.

He also didn’t have the option of getting in contact with any influential person, as he might get in trouble if people found out that he was here illegally.

’Unfortunately, Lia took the little golem with her when she went on her training mission, or I would have handed him over to Kehrid right now...’

Rio had decided to bring that little sentient golem from the dragon valley to the dwarf kingdom, and Kehrid is a good choice to be his guardian.

Not only is he an SS-ranker, but he’s also a master smith and can likely take care of him.

The only reason Rio didn’t bring it with him was because Lia took it with her.

’Ugh... when will you come back my cute Lia~~~’

While Rio was busy thinking about his beautiful girlfriend in his head, Kehrid brought out a strange-looking ’square’ from his space ring.

”What you are looking for is this artifact called the ’Cube of Possibilities’!”

”That idiot Fabian was actually an apprentice of mine; he ended up dying during a dangerous experiment few years ago. this artifact has been in my hands since then...”

Kehrid’s tone carried immense sadness while talking about this matter.

”He was a brilliant student and had a great future ahead; alas, he lacked talent as an awakener...”

The path to becoming a ’master smith’ in this world is very difficult; not only do you need to learn technologies and skills that are extremely difficult to master, but you also need immense talent as an awakener.

Only those who reach rank SS in their lifetime and are able to create artifacts of SS or higher levels are granted the title of ’Master Smith.’

Most people end up dying walking on this thorny ’path’ of hardships and suffering.

Some lack talent, some lack the hard work, and some can’t stand the pressure.

Creating legendary weapons is the dream of every blacksmith in the world, but the ’path’ that leads to this outcome is not so easy.

’No wonder ’Vinash’ led me to this place and my intuition helped me meet Kifrid; if I hadn’t met this kiddo, I wouldn’t have been able to find this artifact I was looking for...’

’The mission would have already failed by then...’

Rio did not have the option of redoing the mission; time was running out, and the more he delayed, the more impossible it would become to save Liam’s life.

It’s already been nearly half a year since the ’Chronos Incident’ happened, and the chance of saving Liam’s life has already become less than 1 percent.

Ashtel had collected his information decades ago; many things can change in such a long time span.

”Uh, I am very sorry for your loss... But I need that artifact to save my friend’s life. Tell me what you want in return for that artifact; if possible, I will help you contact the human nation and whatever you demand will be at your disposal...”

Rio didn’t dare snatch the artifact from an SS-ranker, and he didn’t want to anger Kehrid either, as he was a benefactor who told Rio about his sword’s origins.

Rio was willing to give compensation in exchange for the artifact.

Hearing Rio’s words, Kehrid sighed deeply and placed the ’Cube’ on the table in front of Rio with his telekinesis.

”It’s not that I don’t want to give you this thing... this artifact is very dangerous...”

”This thing is called ’The Cube of Possibilities.’ Its primary function is to lead you towards ’possibilities’ that can help you fulfil your ’wishes’...”

Kehrid narrowed his eyes as he explained further.

”But this is not a friendly artifact by any means; it’s something that was once used by the ’Previous Demon King’! King Allen got this artifact after killing the ’Demon King,’ and he handed it to me as a payment for creating powerful swords for him....”

Saying those words, Kehrid sighed and said,

”This artifact is very bizarre; it think it’s corrupted by some miasmic influence. whoever keeps it close to them for too long ends up losing their sanity...”

”I have lend this artifact to a lot of people who came to me for help; most of them ended up dying and reaching horrific ’possibilities’...”

”Which lead me to conclude that the true ability of this artifact is leading a person towards their deepest ’wish’...”

Rio’s eyes narrowed at Kehrid’s words.

He understood what Kehrid was trying to say: a person has many wishes they want to become reality, but every being has a deep desire or wish hidden in them here that can be selfish or maybe very unrealistic.

If it finds a ’medium,’ which is this cube, to become ’possiblility,’ then many bad things can happen to you.
