The room smelled faintly of disinfectant.

Most importantly, there was a ball of bloody gauze on the ground.

Lin Yi was half-naked as he applied medicine to his wound. He was stunned for a moment when he saw He Yuanyuan and Ji Qingyan enter.

“What are you two doing here?”

Their minds went blank. The scene in front of them was exactly as they had expected©- Neither of them could react.

They didn’t even hear Lin Yi’s question clearly.

“W-what’s going on?”

Ji Qingyan walked past He Yuanyuan and quickly stopped in front of Lin Yi.

Seeing the shocking wound on his shoulder, her eyes reddened.

“I encountered an accident on the way out to the Northeast, but it was nothing. 1 just have to change the dressing from time to time.”

“Don’t lie to me. What’s going on?!” Ji Qingyan’s voice rose in anger.

“Weil…”

Lin Yi paused for a moment. Ji Qingyan had already seen it, so there was no way he could hide it.

However, she definitely could not say that it was a gunshot wound. This would easily scare her.

“I went hunting with some leaders from the Agricultural Research Institute in the Greater Khingan Mountains and encountered a black bear. It smacked me.”

This was the most reasonable reason Lin Yi could think of in that tight time.

Although it was also dangerous, it was better than telling her that she had been shot.

“When did this happen? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It’s been more than a week. I didn’t tell you because I was afraid you’d be worried.”

“It’s been so long. Why is your wound still like this? Which hospital operated on you?”

Lin Yi scratched his head. “Didn’t 1 go to the supermarket with you the night before? My wound opened up, so I went to the hospital to get it stitched up again. It s not healed yet.”

“When we went to the supermarket…”

She was stunned.

“Didn’t you go look for Director Shen…”

“Director Shen is in Yanjing on a business trip. How could I go look for him? I just wanted him to help craft an alibi for me to leave and sleep in his office for the night,” Lin Yi said.

“Otherwise, blood would seep out of my clothes, and you’d know.”

“Then you’ve been avoiding me these past few days because you were afraid I’d find out?”

“Of course,” Lin Yi said, “I’m not like He Yuanyuan. Why would I hide from you?”

Hearing Lin Yi’s words, the two of them came to a realization.

Ji Qingyan understood everything now.

Lin Yi had been hiding everything from her, including coming back early and going to the research institute that night, because he was afraid that she would see the wound on his shoulder.

Ji Qingyan felt a little ashamed.

He was afraid that he would be worried if she saw it, so he did such a thing!

However, she had misunderstood him.

He Yuanyuan was even more embarrassed than Ji Qingyan.

She had been worried for a few days, but in the end, it was all a misunderstanding!

“What right do you have not to tell me?!”

Ji Qingyan wiped her tears. “What kind of person do you think I am?! ”

“It’s because I care about you that I was afraid you’d worry.”

Lin Yi scratched his head. “But I’m more curious. What are you two doing here in the middle of the night? Are you checking up on me?”

“Um…”

The sudden silence was terrifying.

The time for the duo’s social death has arrived.

“We were having dinner together in the evening and were feeling bored, so we suddenly thought of visiting you and checking in on you,” He Yuanyuan said.

“What’s there to check? I just had nothing to do. Besides, you’ve been so busy and haven’t been home for a few days, so 1 thought I’d come over and take a look.”

The two of them reacted very quickly. They echoed each other’s alibi and resolved the matter.

“Find a place to sit. Let me apply the medicine first.”

“I’ll help you.”

“There’s no need. I don’t think you’ll dare to do this. ”

She thought about it and realized that she might genuinely not dare to do this.

She felt dizzy just by looking at it.

Lin Yi took a disinfectant cotton swab and cleaned the blood clots on the wound, as well as the pus.

Not to mention Ji Qingyan, even He Yuanyuan frowned. How painful was this? How could he remain so expressionless?

After disinfecting it, Lin Yi applied anti-inflammatory medicine and bandaged it again.

“You’re already injured. Why did you still go to the supermarket with me that day? Couldn’t you just find a reason to reject me?”

At the same time, she was also blaming herself.

The two of them had been together for so long, but she actually did not notice anything wrong with him. Moreover, she had misunderstood him!

She was really too incompetent!

It was all her fault that the wound opened up and was infected a second time!

“Didn’t you say that it was a ritual? 1 was too embarrassed to refuse,” Lin Yi said.

“I actually just thought you were just going to buy some snacks. Who would have thought that you would buy a large pile of rice, noodles, and oil?”

“This is all my fault.”

“Alright, alright. The two of you can continue to flaunt your affection. I’m leaving.”

He Yuanyuan felt that it was too awkward for her to stay here. It was better for her to leave quickly.

This was too much of a slap in the face.

Boss, I’m sorry.’

“You should have left long ago. Don’t stay here and get in the way.”

Because of her guilty conscience, He Yuanyuan did not retort. She only snorted indifferently.

Ji Qingyan had no intention of asking her to stay either.

“Yuanyuan, wait a moment. I have something to tell you.”

Outside the room, Ji Qingyan chased after He Yuanyuan and pulled her aside.

“Fortunately, I reacted quickly. Otherwise, we would have died.”

He Yuanyuan held her forehead. Although she was not discovered, she felt too ashamed to face anyone.

“It’s all my fault.”

“That’s why i want you to do me a favor.”

“What favor?’1

“This is the key to Yunshui Villa and Jiuzhou Pavilion. Get someone to help me move my things back.”

Uh… Senior Sister, you’ve changed your stance too quickly.”

“I can’t do anything about it. It’s our fault. Lin Yi isn’t that kind of person at all.

I only have myself to blame.”

“This is your fault.”

‘I know it’s my fault.” Ji Qingyan blinked her large eyes innocently at He Yuanyuan.

“If you don’t help me, I won’t be able to face Lin Yi anymore.”

“Alright, I’ve taken a fancy to a Van Cleef earring. Buy it for me when we get back.”

“Yes, yes, yes. 1’11 definitely buy it for you.”

“Then I’ll get going first. Every moment the two of you have is worth a thousand gold coins.”

He Yuanyuan took the keys and walked towards the elevator. Then, she quickened her pace and returned to her car.

It was only at this moment that he felt relieved.

She felt that she had never encountered anything more embarrassing in her life.

“Damn it, let’s go home and sleep!”

Ring ring ring!

He Yuanyuan had just started the car when her phone rang. It was a cal! from Qi Xianzhao.

“Brother Qi.”

“Are you asleep?”

“Not yet. Why?”

“Didn’t you say that you wanted to resign? I thought about it for a day and just gave your resignation letter to President Lin. President Lin agreed and even gave you an additional one million yuan as compensation. You can come and collect the things tomorrow.”

He Yuanyuan leaned back in her chair. She felt that she might as well bang her head against the wall and die.

When the two of them had problems, she had been so worried about them.

Great.

It turned out to be a misunderstanding. They had reconciled and acted as if nothing had happened.

Not only did He Yuanyuan have to go back and clean up the mess, but she had also lost her job!

I’m a bigger joke than a clown!’
