Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2506: Chapter 22: Breaking the Eating戒 (Part 2)

Mo Hua and Elder Zhao returned to the Canglang Sect together.

The two arrived at the Canglang Sect’s ancestral hall in the back mountain.

”Originally, the election and appointment of the Sect Leader required a Sect Leader assembly for all the elders to discuss and for the disciples to witness...”

”But now, the matter is urgent, so we won’t hold this assembly...”

Mo Hua nodded, ”We can skip these formalities.”

He looked up at the rows of plaques in front of the Canglang Sect’s ancestral hall and asked, ”What needs to be done next?”

Elder Zhao replied, ”I need to write the Sect Leader’s decree in blood and place it on the altar to seek the ancestor’s approval. If the ancestor approves, the decree will bear the Canglang Blood Seal.”

Mo Hua urged him, ”Write it quickly.”

Elder Zhao had no choice but to take out a piece of wolf skin paper, bite his finger, and sincerely write in blood about his name, origin, background, cultivation realm, cultivation technique, why he wants to be the Sect Leader of the Canglang Sect, his qualifications for the position, and what he can do for the Canglang Sect as the Sect Leader, etc.

Mo Hua glanced briefly, seeing that Elder Zhao’s words were earnest, his language fluent, unchanged from what was likely a long-prepared draft, indicating he had been eyeing the Sect Leader’s position from early on and had been preparing for it.

Mo Hua did not blame him for being pragmatic.

Opportunities are for the prepared.

Within thirty minutes, Elder Zhao finished writing.

After writing, he tidied his attire, burned incense to pay respects, kowtowed to the plaques of the Canglang Sect, prayed for blessings, and after a series of cumbersome rituals, he finally bowed his head, bent his waist, held the blood-written decree with both hands, and presented it to the plaques, seeking the ancestors’ response.

Elder Zhao’s face was full of anxiety, like a sect disciple waiting for ”assessment” results, his expression solemn.

He knelt before the plaques, waiting respectfully.

It was unclear how much time passed when suddenly a gust of wind, accompanied by a wolf’s howl, blew through, seemingly heralding the arrival of something unseen.

Elder Zhao then looked shocked.

He knew the result had come.

Elder Zhao knocked his head three times, took a look at the Sect Leader’s decree, and his face instantly turned gray.

There was nothing on the decree.

Clearly, the ancestors of the Canglang Sect did not recognize him as the ”Sect Leader.”

Elder Zhao’s face was full of a bitter smile.

Mo Hua, however, did not understand, ”Do you need this piece of paper to approve it? You’re already at the Golden Core stage; why care so much?”

Elder Zhao sighed, ”It’s the rule. Without the decree, I could self-appoint as Sect Leader. But ultimately, it lacks legitimacy, and there are many inheritance places in the Canglang Sect’s back mountain and forbidden areas to which I have no access...”

”I understand now...” Mo Hua nodded and reached out to Elder Zhao, ”Give me the decree, and I’ll go have a talk.”

Elder Zhao was taken aback, ”Talk... talk?”

Before he could say anything, Mo Hua had already taken the wolf skin decree from him and then bypassed the plaques to enter the inner hall of the ancestral hall.

Elder Zhao wanted to stop him, but dared not, only watching with wide eyes.

...

In the inner hall of the Canglang Sect’s ancestral hall stood a massive wolf head statue.

Mo Hua scanned with his Divine Sense and discovered formations densely covering the area, and the giant mouth of the wolf head was a hidden door.

The entrance led to the mausoleum of the Canglang Sect.

These tomb-guarding formations were a mix of second and third-grade Compound Formations, likely arranged at great expense by a Third Grade Array Master invited by the Canglang Sect.

Mo Hua was not yet at the Golden Core stage, unable to break a third-grade formation.

However, to save costs, the entrance’s formation only had a few third-grade elements, with most still being second-grade.

Mo Hua, for the sake of convenience, directly used Divine Sense Control Ink with a Reversed Spirit Formation to collapse most of the second-grade formations, leaving a dark entrance.

An eerie wind emanated from the entrance, interspersed with faint howls of wolves.

Without hesitation, Mo Hua, holding Elder Zhao’s ”decree,” stepped into the entrance of the mausoleum.

Behind the entrance was a long corridor.

The corridor descended into darkness, leading to a gloomy mausoleum.

The mausoleum was old, but in its center stood a new altar.

This altar seemed newly built, as if completed only a few years ago.

The altar bore offerings and had a wolf head drawn in fresh blood.

The altar’s design had distinct Great Wilderness features; Mo Hua found it somewhat familiar yet notably different upon closer inspection.

It should originate from the same source but diverged.

For some reason, ever since embarking on the path of Divine Thought Taoism to deification, Mo Hua had an inexplicable sense of familiarity whenever he saw an altar.

With a gentle leap, he jumped onto the altar and sat down in the center with practiced ease.

After sitting down, a comfortable sensation gradually spread through his body.

Then, a strong drowsiness enveloped him.

His Divine Sense seemed to be drawn and pulled away from his body.

Soon, Mo Hua closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

When he reopened his eyes, he found himself in a grand hall with distinct Barbaric Wilderness characteristics.

Surrounding the hall were statues of Cang wolves.

On the high seats, they were filled with cultivators in wolf robes.

These wolf-robed cultivators all exuded an evil aura, with most being Third Grade Evil Spirits.

Mo Hua almost drooled.

At this moment, among the ancestors of the Canglang Sect, one pointed at Mo Hua and sternly accused him:

”What audacity! To dare intrude into the ancestral hall, enter the Canglang Mausoleum, and desecrate our altar...”

Mo Hua scanned the surroundings, took a deep breath of the long-lost evil demon’s scent, suppressed his excitement, and retorted:

”Why do you refuse to let Elder Zhao become Sect Leader? Elder Zhao, although slightly hypocritical, is a decent person.”

”Absurd!” a Canglang Sect ancestor sneered, ”Since when did the affairs of the Canglang Sect allow a junior like you to meddle and dictate?”
