War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens

As one of Di Chen’s followers, Li Bing and Wang Chong knew that Di Chen’s father was a Supreme Elder and one of the strongest powerhouses in the dragon clan. They were not certain if he was a Seven or Eight Tribulation Bodiless Celestial. In any case, he was much stronger than both of them.

Both of them were naturally shocked and pressured when they found out that the task that would be given to them came from Di Chen’s father. If they failed a task that Di Chen had given them, at most, they would not be given missions in the future. However, if they failed a task given by Di Chen’s father, they would definitely suffer if they were not killed.

“My father said that recently, someone has been revealing the existence of Bodiless Celestials in the central region!” Di Chen said calmly.

“What?!”

“Who’s so daring?!”

“Does he have a death wish? Didn’t he know that the dragon clan and phoenix clans have prohibited those in the know from revealing the existence of Bodiless Celestials?”

When Li Bing and Wang Chong heard this, they were shocked and horrified.

“This is the reason I’ve asked both of you to come here. You’re to investigate and find out who disregarded the dragon and phoenix clans’ rule and exposed the existence of Bodiless Celestials!” Di Chen’s eyes flashed coldly. “If the culprit is weaker than both of you, capture him and bring him back. However, if the culprit is stronger than both of you, return immediately. I’ll personally set out and kill him at that time!” His aura turned icy cold when he finished speaking, causing Li Bing and Wang Chong to feel as though they were trapped in an ice cave.

“Yes!” Li Bing and Wang Chong answered obediently as they shivered.

“These two Minor and Major Mirror Image Talismans are for you… Notify me immediately if you’re not a match for that person!” Di Chen took out two talismans and threw them at Li Bing and Wang Chong who hurriedly caught it in their arms and put them away safely.

“I’ll give both of you a year to complete this task. You know what to do next right?” Di Chen cocked an eyebrow and asked coldly after both of them had put the Minor Major Mirror Image Talismans away.

Li Bing and Wang Chong felt their hearts skipped a beat when they heard Di Chen’s words. They hurriedly swore on the lightning penalty oath that they would return to the dragon clan within a year or else they would be killed by the lightning penalty. This was, naturally, the best way for the dragon clan to control them.

Di Chen gave them an Order Token each after they had sworn on the lightning penalty oath. He waved his hand dismissively and said, “Go on then!”

Li Bing and Wang Chong did not waste any time and left Di Chen’s cultivation place immediately.

When they were about to leave the dragon clan’s estate, they were stopped by another powerhouse. However, they were allowed to leave once they showed their Order Tokens. With these Order Tokens, they could come and go freely in the dragon clan. However, they would have to return them to Di Chen when they completed their task.

After that, Li Bing and Wang Chong flew out of the dragon clan’s estate, leaving the 100,000 Towering Mountains.

“We’re out!”

“I, Wang Chong, have successfully left the dragon clan!”

Both of them shouted in joy to vent their emotions that they had to suppress in the dragon clan as soon as they left the 100,000 Towering Mountains. Ever since they had become Bodiless Celestials, they were brought to the dragon clan. This was their first time leaving the dragon clan!

Both of them decided to head to the central region first.

“Since the news came from the central region, let’s start our investigation there!” Wang Chong said.

“Okay.” Li Bing nodded in agreement. This was what he had in mind as well.

With their speed, they quickly arrived in the central region. As soon as they arrived, they made their way to the busiest city in the central region, Sin City. This was a place where many sectless cultivators were gathered. They quickly found a busy restaurant to start their investigation.

Unfortunately, even after a few days, their investigation bore no fruits. Currently, Li Bing and Wang Chong were in a room inside an inn.

“Well, we can be certain that the person who revealed the existence of Bodiless Celestials is extremely cautious,” Wang Chong said with a solemn expression on his face.

“Yes,” Li Bing said with a grim expression on his face, “It seems like the culprit really left no trace behind. Based on this, it’s fairly obvious that he had intentionally revealed the existence of Bodiless Celestials to provoke the dragon and phoenix clans!”

“It’s highly likely that the culprit is a Bodiless Celestial as well!” Wang Chong said confidently, “Otherwise, it would’ve been impossible for him to leave no traces behind… Moreover, apart from those high-ranking officials in the three great sects, those who know about Bodiless Celestials are Bodiless Celestials themselves.”

“Although the high-ranking officials are unaware of the rule that’s imposed by the dragon and phoenix clans, it’s unlikely that they had spread this news. After all, they had no Bodiless Celestials in their sects. Revealing the existence of Bodiless Celestials would only lower their statuses and prestige.” Wang Chong deduced in one breath.

“You’re right. There would definitely be evidence if it’s one of three great sects that leaked this news. The only possibility left is another Bodiless Celestial is the culprit!” Li Bing agreed with Wang Chong.

“We must continue investigating… Even if the other party is a Bodiless Celestial, there must be a clue somewhere. We just need to find it and eventually we’ll find the culprit,” Wang Chong said.

Li Bing nodded.

After that, they thoroughly searched and investigated Sin City and repeated the process as they moved outward from the city.

Time flew by quickly. In just a blink of an eye, a month had passed since Li Bing and Wang Chong had left the dragon clan.

Somewhere west of Sin City.

Li Bing said in a slightly annoyed tone, “A whole month has passed, and we still don’t have any leads!”

“We can only continue to investigate. I’m sure we’ll find something eventually. I still have a few leads to check out, maybe one of them would lead to a breakthrough,” Wang Chong said patiently.

“Wang Chong!” Suddenly, Li Bing looked at Wang Chong with a glint in his eyes. “I’ve already verified all the leads I have… I’m going to make a trip to the Fire Worship Sect in the next few days!”

“You… You intend to return to the sect and ask that lass to revoke her order?” Wang Chong was also Bodiless Celestial from the Fire Worship Sect. It was not difficult for him to guess Li Bing’s intention. Naturally, the lass he was referring to was Gan Ru Yan, the new Sect Leader of Fire Worship Sect!

“Yes.” Li Bing nodded. “Since the beginning of time, our Fire Worship Sect has fought alongside the Black Kshetra Sect and the Heaven Divination Sect against the Seven Absolutes Sect… That lass has crossed a line! Even if the current successor of the Fog Rain Progeny is her brother-in-law, how can she come up with such a ridiculous rule! Not only will I ask her to revoke her order, but I’ll also remove her from the position of sect leader!” Based on Li Bing’s words, it was obvious that he was dissatisfied with Gan Ru Yan.

“Fine, go ahead then…” Wang Chong nodded. “However, you’ll have to return as soon as you’ve dealt with the matter in the sect. Don’t forget our mission. This mission is from Lord Di Chen’s father, a Supreme Elder of the dragon clan! If we fail, not only would we lose the chance to come out again in the future, there’s a high possibility that we’ll have to suffer from punishment as well! We’re no different from ants in the dragon clan. Lord Di Chen can kill us if he wants to!” His voice turned grimmer as he spoke.

“Don’t worry!” Li Bing nodded solemnly. “I’ll take a few days at most!”

“A few days? I’ll give you two days. You must return within two days!” Wang Chong said in a deep voice, “Two days is enough for you to settle the affairs in our sect… Don’t tell me you’re still harboring the intention of killing the current successor of the Fog Rain Progeny so you can brag about it when you return to the dragon clan!”

“Don’t worry… I know what to do. I won’t waste my time looking for that lad!” Li Bing said. Naturally, he wished he could find the successor of the Fog Rain Progeny, the First Absolute of the Seven Absolutes Sect, and kill him to avenge Tang Xuan. That way he would be able to brag when he returned to the dragon clan. However, he did not dare to forget the mission that had been given to him.
