Battle Of Planets

Chapter 56: Proposal
”I can’t believe he recruited four girls for his team,” Tyson said, sucking on his straw as he sipped his smoothie.Nancy sat opposite him, idly stirring her drink with her straw and hardly paying attention to his words. The two were at a small table next to the bustling street, where cars honked and pedestrians walked by, caught up in their ordinary discussions.

”So what if he’s popular with the girls—” Tyson began again, but his words faded when his phone vibrated. He looked at the screen, and a small smile appeared on his lips.

Nancy’s eyes darted over to him. ”Who is it?”

”Oh, nobody,” Tyson replied casually.

”Show me,” she said, extending her palm up, silently demanding his phone.

She wasn’t about to take any chances. If Tyson’s brother could shamelessly flirt, who’s to say Tyson wasn’t doing the same? Sure, both were popular with girls, but Tyson, bless his clueless soul, was usually oblivious. He could barely pick up on her hints when she threw them at him—so how could she trust that some scheming admirer wouldn’t trick him?

Nancy needed to ensure that other girls wouldn’t lure away her innocent boyfriend. She knew their games all too well.

White Dragon Fanclub!

Nancy rolled her eyes in exasperation.

As Nancy read the title of the page, her brow twitched. Below it, a torrent of comments streamed in at an overwhelming pace.

The page gained momentum after Tyson’s jaw-dropping battle against opponents far more substantial than himself. His fearless display left a lasting impression, ensuring everyone knew his name. His devoted fans were doing their utmost to spread his legend throughout the city.

”OMG, did you see how he moved in that fight? He was an absolute beast!”

”Forget about being a Ranger—he should be a damn model! Just look at him!”

”White Dragon! White Dragon! Let’s ensure the world knows his name!”

Nancy continued scrolling, her annoyance increasing as she came across edited photos of Tyson appearing overly heroic—some featuring glowing red eyes, others with dramatic filters that made him look like he had descended from the heavens.

And then there were the fan edits—slow-motion clips of Tyson mid-fight, with music playing in the background, captioned with phrases like:

”Perfection exists, and his name is Tyson.”

Nancy let out a sharp exhale through her nose.

”What?” Tyson asked, noticing her expression. ”They’re my fans!”

Nancy shot him a deadpan look. ”They’re crazy.”

She continued scrolling. Someone had posted a whole page about Tyson, detailing his fighting statistics, height, potential hobbies, and even his ’ideal type of woman’—which was a matter of speculation.

”Do you think he prefers cute or badass girls?” one comment asked.

”He deserves a strong woman by his side! A genuine queen for our White Dragon!”

”I don’t care. As long as he is alive, I’m happy.”

Nancy sighed, fighting the urge to fling his phone into the street.

Tyson, meanwhile, sipped his smoothie with a grin. ”They have great taste.”

”Seriously?” Nancy muttered, unfollowing the fan page from Tyson’s phone before handing it back to him. ”Don’t let this nonsense get to your head. Focus on your next drill.”

Tyson gaped at his phone in disbelief. ”Do you know how difficult it was to find that group?” He sighed heavily. ”Now I have to search for it all over again...”

Nancy gave him a piercing glare.

”I’m just joking,” Tyson said swiftly, avoiding her gaze as he took a sip of his smoothie.

”So, how long is this drill of yours?” Nancy asked, her tone softening.

”Maybe a week,” Tyson replied.

Nancy fell silent once more, absently stirring her drink.

This would be Tyson’s first actual drill—the one that would test and shape his leadership skills. As a Sergeant, it was unavoidable that he would have to lead cadets someday, even if he weren’t too excited about it.

On the other hand, she felt a bit concerned,

She wished he wouldn’t leave the city, not even for training. Yet, deep down, she understood there was nothing they could do to change it.

If Tyson had been an ordinary citizen like her, no one would have forced him into these grueling drills. But he wasn’t. He was a Ranger, and with that title came responsibilities neither of them could ignore.

”You seem upset. Is something bothering you?” Tyson asked, gently holding her hand in his.

Nancy hesitated, her voice thick with emotion. ”I... I don’t want to be apart from you.”

”This is only for a little while,” Tyson reassured her.

”But what if something happens?” she murmured as she stood up. ”What if a monster takes me away or something?”

Tyson chuckled and wrapped an arm around her as they started walking together. ”A monster, huh?”

His mind wandered back to the old video message from her father—the one where little Nancy said the same things to him. It had been adorable and a bit silly, yet it had also stirred something profound within him.

A protective instinct.

It was as if, no matter what, he was prepared to face anything and everything for this girl.

”I’d give it a smack,” Tyson said with confidence.

Nancy raised an eyebrow. ”What if it’s too strong for you?”

”Then I’ll ask my dad to hit it.”

His quick reply made Nancy smile despite herself, but there was something in her heart that she wanted to discuss with him, yet she felt it wasn’t the right time.

Tyson observed her momentarily, then drew her closer, his grip comforting. His voice softened, yet his words held quiet certainty.

”Don’t worry. My family is great at dealing with things.”

She nodded as they both walked, keeping each other close.

”Your proposal seems promising,” Seraphina said, skimming through the file in her hand and briefly glancing at the lavish surroundings of the upscale restaurant.

The young man sitting across from her smiled with confidence. ”I knew you would like it, Miss President.”

”You can call me Seraphina, Ron. I’m still not accustomed to being addressed by my title,” she replied, handing the file to Lucy, who stood attentively beside her. ”Please hold this for me, Lucy, and ensure it’s placed with the other proposals.”

Ron hesitated, his smile fading. ”S-Sorry? I thought you liked our company’s proposal to rebuild the collapsed structures. So why...?”

Seraphina looked at him with an apologetic expression. ”I like your proposal, but I need to consider the others before making a final decision.”

The young man sitting before her was none other than Richard’s grandson—the heir to the wealthiest family in the city and a man of immense political influence. He was the same person her father mentioned she would have to marry to compel Alex to confess his feelings to Seraphina.

Richards had always supported Edmund and extended the same backing to Seraphina, a crucial factor that greatly helped her in the elections.

”What is there to think about, Seraphina?” Ron leaned forward, his tone impatient. ”We helped you during the election. Now it’s your turn to return the favor—let us enjoy the victory and... luxury together.”

Seraphina hesitated. She had heard plenty about Ron—how he was a spoiled brat with little understanding of the delicate intricacies involved in business deals. She had wanted to avoid this meeting entirely, but considering how much Richard had done for her father and her, she thought listening to Ron wouldn’t hurt.

”Don’t phrase it that way, Ron,” she said, maintaining a calm tone. ”Other companies are ready to assist in rebuilding the city for half the budget of your proposal. How can I approve your deal without giving it adequate consideration?”

”Oh, now I understand how it is,” Ron smirked, lifting his wine glass. ”I guess power is beginning to go to your head, huh? Don’t forget who put you in that position.”

”Y-You—” Lucy began to speak up, but Seraphina calmly raised a hand, halting her.

”Don’t think you own that seat,” Ron sneered, his smirk wide across his face. ”If we helped you win it, we can just as easily take it away. Nobody has ever said no to me. Ever.”

”Then let this be your first time.” Seraphina smiled. ”I reject your company’s proposal. It was nice to meet you, Mr. Lawrence.”

With that, she stood up, and Lucy followed closely behind.

”I should’ve known,” Ron scoffed, his voice laced with bitterness. ”First, you turned down my marriage proposal for that man, and now this? You’ve always been so eager for power, haven’t you?”

Seraphina halted, her expression clouded. ”I dare you, Mr. Lawrence—never speak of my fiancé again.”

She felt herself getting triggered by his words, even though she knew it wasn’t right for her since she was the President of Elria.

”What are you going to do?” Ron barked, kicking his chair aside as he got to his feet. ”Just you wait. I’ll destroy you and your fiancé before you even have a chance to walk down that aisle.”

Seraphina took a deep breath, suppressing the fury rising within her. She turned on her heel and walked away while shouting behind her like a madman.
