Primordial Chaos Dragon Tower: Harem System

Chapter 1109: Shameless Sect

A faint light began to flicker from the skull as eerie whispers echoed through the arena. The air turned heavy, and even the spectators felt the shift in energy. A cold, suffocating aura spread, making weaker disciples shiver.

”That’s... the Soul Devourer Ritual!” one of the Supreme Immortal Sect elders from the stands exclaimed, his voice trembling. ”They’re insane! That ritual is forbidden in inter-sect competitions!”

Lady Enzi shook her head. ”That is not exactly true. While the Soul Devourer Ritual is dangerous, it is only forbidden if the Devil Skull they are using is Tier 8 and above. This one is Tier 7, so it is within the grey area.”

The elders and disciples watching the match frowned, knowing this was not something to be taken lightly.

The Soul Devourer Ritual is a technique used with the signature treasure of the Blade Soul Sect—the Devil Skull.

This skull is from a real human, but it has been refined over the course of seven thousand years by the best of the Blade Soul Sect into a treasure worthy of fear.

When used, it devours the user’s soul energy and then releases a howling sound, one that shakes both the heart and soul.

Those with weaker souls will receive soul injuries and pass out, or even worse, die. Those with stronger souls will be struck by a powerful soul attack that can disorient them for a couple of seconds.

Of course, depending on how much soul energy is devoured by the Devil Skull, the more devastating the attack will be.

So, to think these people are using one right off the bat.

”I am all about the Blade Soul Sect winning, but this is too much. Just look at the Supreme Immortal Sect disciples; they are being suppressed.”

Even Princess Elowen was taken aback by the sudden treasure being used by the Blade Soul Sect.

”Yurei, Raizel, Xhan, Zeyrion, and Nyss, buy us some time,” Vanna said, and five of her teammates made their move.

However, just when they moved, Zeev, the captain of the Blade Soul Sect, stepped forward and waved his hand, bringing out a soul flag.

He waved it, and seven soul spirits, each at the Core Formation Stage, appeared and attacked the five.

”Hahahahahaha!” Zeev laughed, watching as the advance made by the Supreme Immortal Sect was stopped by him.

”You really think we will let you destroy our plan? Just relax and wait for your doom.” After saying that, he extended his hand toward the Devil Skull and continued channeling his soul energy into it.

Nyss brought out two short swords and started moving through the shadows, aiming to both evade and attack the soul spirits.

However, as spirits, attacking them head-on was just a bad idea.

Xhan, the Venom King, had already begun using his poison art against the soul spirits.

As for Raizel, the One-Eyed Demon Spawn who was also skilled in Soul Art, he was having a much easier time with the soul spirits.

Meanwhile, Yurei, the Ice Maiden, and Zeyrion, the Arrogant Crystal Dragon Prince, weren’t having an easy time.

Their ice and crystal affinities weren’t helping them fight against the soul spirits, so they resorted to using the same old brute method.

The skull glowed brighter, and the whispers became louder. The ground began to tremble as the Devil Skull fed on more soul energy from the seven Blade Soul Sect disciples.

A wave of howling sound rolled through the arena, forcing the weaker disciples to cover their ears. Even though the sound is being masked by the barrier surrounding the arena, those outside can hear the sound.

Nyss dashed through the shadows, slicing through one of the soul spirits. Her blades passed right through, leaving no mark.

The spirit roared with a furious growl, sending a shockwave that threw her back.

She landed on her feet and gritted her teeth.

”Damn it... physical attacks won’t work,” she muttered.

Her brother, Xhan, poisoned the air, forming a green mist. It swirled, causing the very ground to begin melting.

Although he is no soul cultivator, his poison can, in a way, affect the soul. As the mist spread, it suddenly touched one of the soul spirits, and it screamed as its form began to fade.

But before it vanished, another spirit rushed at Xhan, slamming him to the ground.

However, while on the ground, he didn’t let the soul spirits get close. Using the poison mist in the air, he moved away and regained his stance before moving into battle again.

Raizel’s single eye glowed a deep red, filled with an overwhelming amount of soul energy.

”Soul Pierce!” he shouted.

A beam of energy shot from his eye and struck two spirits, blasting holes through their chests. The spirits wailed and vanished into black smoke.

However, killing two Core Formation soul spirits drained more than he expected, causing his face to pale.

Yurei raised her hands, freezing the ground beneath her.

”Frozen Seal!” she cried, her chilling voice freezing the hearts of many. If this were a normal battle, she would have been a menace to her opponents thanks to her overwhelming ice energy.

However, this was a soul battle where she was both outnumbered and outclassed.

Ice spikes shot up, slowing two spirits, but they shattered the ice and rushed forward again. Zeyrion jumped in front of her, his arms glowing with crystal light.

”Crystal Wall!” he shouted. A massive wall of crystal rose to block the attack. The spirits hit it, and cracks spread across its surface.

Zeev laughed from across the battlefield. ”Pathetic! Your resistance is useless!”

He waved his soul flag again, and five more Core Formation soul spirits appeared. This time, all five soul spirits were from spirit beasts.

Two were tigers, while the last three were winged beasts. They had probably hunted them down from the Ancient Battlefield of Parting.

The five beast spirits rushed at the five disciples, aiming to further injure their souls.

On the stands, Lady Enzi gritted her teeth. She turned to her left and saw an elder from the Blade Soul Sect grinning at her.

”These bastards, they have emptied their treasure just to enable their disciples to win against us.” Wasting so many soul spirits on their disciples is indeed a waste.

However, to them, this was their chance to win and either become the second-ranked sect or even the first.

”Looks like we underestimated the enemy,” Lady Liora said with a faint smile.

”No, we didn’t. It’s just that their shamelessness knows no limits. Aside from giving a Tier 7 Devil Skull to their disciples, they even gave them a soul flag. That is just too much for a sect battle between disciples.”

Lady Enzi spoke with a dark expression. She clearly never saw this coming.

Sect competitions are a way of testing the disciples’ strength. However, the moment the opponent begins to cheat, everything else becomes pointless.

Bringing out twelve Core Formation soul spirits is already above what a disciple competition should allow. However, the enemy didn’t even care and chose to prioritize winning above all else.

Lady Liora sighed.

She would never stoop to such a shameless act in the name of victory. However, knowing her disciple was in the arena fighting made her feel a sense of fear for her.

Soul attacks weren’t exactly something her disciples specialized in.

She was an alchemist, but aside from pill-making, she showed no interest in soul arts. This put her in danger as well.

Twenty minutes soon passed, and as one looked at the five disciples fighting against the soul spirits, it was clear that their souls were severely injured.

HUM.

Suddenly, the Devil Skull hummed, and a wave of soul energy passed through the arena.

Vanna clenched her fists. ”Elowen, now!”

At the same time she shouted, the Devil Skull moved...
