Earth's Greatest Magus

After everyone went their separate ways, Emery returned to his rigorous training. He dedicated most of his time to refining the new techniques he had acquired, especially focusing on mastering the Verdant Ascension, taught by Grand Magus Yvere. This powerful technique allowed Emery to forge a deeper bond with nature, strengthening his connection to the Elysian Tree. The process was slow, requiring immense concentration, but each day, he felt the energy of nature flowing more fluidly through him, enriching his connection to the natural world.

In between his training, Emery occasionally guided his acolytes, particularly Ha Ron, King Rig, and his daughter Shinta, helping them prepare for the upcoming end-of-year exam.

Two months later, the end-of-year academy exam commenced, following the familiar format of previous years. It began with the personal exams, where acolytes showcased their individual prowess.

This time, the results were particularly impressive: 30 out of the 50 acolytes from Hall 33 managed to break into the top 1,000 rankings and achieve their bronze status. The accomplishment garnered significant attention from other halls, especially considering that several of those top performers were first-years hailing from the lower realms. Their success was a testament to the effectiveness of Hall 33’s guidance over the past year. As the acolytes celebrated their success, Kat, who had been visiting Hall 33 occasionally to assist and motivate the juniors, shouted enthusiastically, “I want to see at least ten of you achieve the silver ranking!” She cracked her knuckles playfully, her grin widening. “And if any of you perform badly, you’ll get a taste of my fist!” Unfortunately, even Kat’s tough-love approach and fiery encouragement weren’t enough to push the acolytes into the prestigious top 500 ranking of the academy. This realm was dominated by the elites from across the quadrant, where only the most exceptional talents could break through.

Armenius, who had shown significant progress in controlling multiple ice puppets with impressive precision, and Titus, alongside his fierce lightning tiger companion, fought valiantly. Despite their efforts, both came up just short of breaching the upper ranks. Their skills were undeniable, but the competition was fierce, and it wasn’t their time—yet.

However, Hall 33 wasn’t without its victories. Two new silver-ranked acolytes emerged to bring honor to the hall: Ullong, the boar half-blood with his unyielding tenacity, and, surprisingly, Bellana, an insectoid half-blood who had rapidly improved. Their success was largely attributed to the newly established gene center, which successfully advanced their half-blood genes.

The impact of the gene center was further proven by the outstanding performance of Blaine, who ranked at the very top among the silver acolytes.

Blain, Evalice, and King Rig, alongside Ha Ron, who had already reached gold ranking, were poised for their next test—breaking into the academy’s top 100. The festive end-of-year grand arena began, drawing an even larger audience than the previous year. More than a million guests gathered to witness Alpha Quadrant’s most promising young acolytes battle for glory. The energy in the massive stadium was electric, with the eyes of the audience locked on the 100 top silver-ranking acolytes and the 100 gold-ranking acolytes standing proudly in the arena. This was their moment to shine, to prove their worth among the best.

Each competitor was laser-focused, knowing that this event could determine their future within the Academy and beyond. The stakes were higher than ever, and every acolyte craved the recognition that came with victory.

Headmaster Goldstein, standing at the main balcony, was beaming with joy as he opened the event. His voice echoed across the arena with pride as he proclaimed, “Let the best acolytes win!” The crowd erupted into a deafening roar, their cheers and applause reverberating through the air as the duels began in earnest.

Evalice, the spider half-blood from Hall 33, stepped into the arena with a newfound confidence. She had spent months honing her abilities and was eager to display her latest technique. Along with her signature silver web strings, she now commanded an army of hundreds of spider familiars, each ready to fight at her command. Her first duel was a resounding success, as her opponent was overwhelmed by her fierce and relentless tactics. She left the arena victorious, her eyes shining with determination.

However, her next match proved far more difficult. Evalice faced off against a techno-magus from the Imperium, a faction known for its technological prowess. The Imperium magus was a well-prepared adversary, equipped with abilities that nullified Evalice’s web attacks and rendered her spider familiars nearly useless. Despite her best efforts, she couldn’t break through his defenses. The crushing loss took a toll on her confidence.

Shaken by the defeat, Evalice struggled to regain her composure in her third match. The mental blow from her previous loss weighed heavily on her, and her performance faltered. Her attacks lacked their previous sharpness, and her hesitation allowed her opponent to gain the upper hand. In the end, she failed to make the top 100.

King Rig with unwavering tenacity, drawing on the energy of Khaos to fuel his strength. His black lightning crackled around him, a vivid display of raw power that left the audience in awe. In his first two matches, he showcased his formidable abilities, skillfully outmaneuvering and outpacing two geniuses from prestigious factions. Despite his initial victories, King Rig faced formidable challenges in his subsequent fights and fell short in both encounters. As a result, he finished the competition ranked 85.

Blaine, on the other hand, delivered a stunning performance that left spectators buzzing with excitement. In a dramatic showcase, he dominated the two gold-ranking acolytes, with his powerfull explosives fist. His next match was a true test of skill, pitting him against the renowned rank 32 acolytes, a towering figure wielding two massive hammers. The giant acolyte was a sight to behold, delivering powerful blows that shook the ground beneath them. Despite sustaining multiple hard hits, Blaine’s crimson insectoid armor held firm, absorbing the brunt of the impact. With a fierce determination, he kept his arms raised high, retaliating with flaming fists that lit up the arena.

Though he ultimately suffered a loss in this grueling match, Blaine’s performance was nothing short of impressive. His resilience and fighting spirit caught the attention of the audience. In his fourth and final fight, he exhibited an even more remarkable display of skill, adapting to his opponent’s style and executing precise counterattacks. With three wins under his belt, Blaine finished the tournament with an impressive rank 38.

Finally, Ha Ron, who secured the 78th rank in the last exam, had been refining his sword techniques for months. His progress was evident when he began with an easy victory against a similar-ranking acolyte.

The ranking system noticed Ha Ron’s growing skills and matched him against the 46th-ranked acolyte, a top swordsman from one of the three sword sects. This opponent was well-known for his speed and fiery blade. Drawing upon the power of Khaos, Ha Ron was able to shift the flow of the battle and lead him to victory.

His impressive performance paired him with a much tougher opponent.

To the surprise of everyone, Ha Ron’s next match was against last year’s strongest rookie, a silver-haired girl who he knows too well—Shinta Ouroboros.
