Earth's Greatest Magus

From the very start, Emery had recognized Chumo’s identity through his divine sense. Even before the masked figure entered the stage, Emery’s heightened awareness and slight paranoia—especially with Julian’s presence at the event—had kept him vigilant. He noticed when his friend discreetly left the stage, only to return later shrouded in a mask and the [Phantom Skin] cape.

Despite the disguise, the tier-6 bow Chumo wielded became a dead giveaway for many, particularly those familiar with his unique combat style. As the fight intensified, Chumo began unleashing his signature bow skills, each arrow he fired becoming a powerful bolt of energy that struck Amarok with precision. The massive wolf beast howled in fury as arrow after arrow tore through his defenses. Each strike was calculated, aimed to weaken Amarok’s resolve while avoiding fatal blows.

Finally, the overwhelming onslaught became too much for him, and Amarok let out a defeated howl. The once-frenzied wolf, beaten and exhausted, could do nothing but accept his fate. The crowd roared in response, recognizing the skill that had just been displayed.

Realizing his identity was no longer a secret, the masked magus lowered his hood and removed the mask, revealing himself fully to the audience. Chumo’s sharp eyes and calm expression drew a renewed wave of cheers from the crowd.

Up on the stage, Thrax fumed. His face was red frustrated at being deceived by Chumo. “Ahh, what an utter betrayal!!!” he muttered, glaring at Chumo, but a second later, a smile showed on his face as he couldn’t help but admire his performance.

Magus Rosia stepped onto the podium, her voice resonating through the arena as she announced the final duel of the tournament. The anticipation in the air was palpable, and the crowd’s excitement reached its peak. The crowd erupted into chants, their voices blending into a deafening roar. Among the names being called, Chumo’s stood out, his popularity soaring after his stellar performance. His reputation had skyrocketed, especially after his pivotal role in the pirate campaign and the numerous high-profile missions he had undertaken for both Terra and Golden City. Over the past few years, he had become a figure of respect and admiration, not just for his combat prowess but also for his unwavering loyalty and consistent successes.

Chumo stepped into the arena for the final match, facing Cayden, the spirit wolf half-blood.

Unlike Amarok, who relied on brute strength, Cayden possessed a more ethereal and mystical power. His transformation was unlike any other—his body shimmered as it shifted into an incorporeal, ghostly form. His wolf form was not just physical but spiritual, granting him enhanced spellcasting abilities and advancing his spirit reading powers, a step under the level of a Spirit Master.

The atmosphere in the arena was electric as the crowd watched in awe, spellbound by the fierce clash between the two.

Chumo darted through the shadows, employing his stealth and a myriad of fighting tactics to outmaneuver his opponent. Every time he attempted a sneak attack, however, Cayden seemed to anticipate his movements. The spirit wolf, utilizing his combination of raw strength and psychic mind attacks, countered Chumo’s assaults with impressive precision, breaking through the cloaked illusions time and again.

As the fight progressed, many spectators began to shift their expectations, convinced that Cayden was on the path to victory. The way he handled Chumo’s attacks perfectly caused whispers of doubt about Chumo’s chances to ripple through the crowd. However, Emery remained steadfast in his belief that Chumo would prevail. He knew his friend well and sensed that Chumo had yet to reveal his true power.

In a moment of intense pressure, with Cayden launching a series of aggressive strikes, Chumo found himself cornered. When it seemed like defeat was imminent, Chumo tapped into the Khaos power. A wave of dark energy emanated from him, transforming the tide of the battle.

Emery watched in astonishment as Chumo seamlessly integrated the Khaos power with his [Nightwalker] transformation. His previously grotesque body now appeared more formidable, its hardened form glowing with intricate runes that pulsed with energy. With a roar of defiance, Chumo broke free from Cayden’s spirit pressure, his power surging as he flipped the situation around.

The spectators erupted in cheers as Chumo regained the upper hand. The arena was filled with excitement as they witnessed the dramatic shift in momentum. Chumo unleashed a flurry of savage attacks, each strike imbued with the raw intensity of Khaos energy. Cayden struggled to defend against the onslaught, his ethereal form flickering under the relentless assault. As Chumo pressed his advantage, the spirit wolf’s wounds deepened, each blow sapping his strength. Cayden, gasping for breath, realized the severity of his injuries and reluctantly admitted defeat.

“We have our winner!!” Chumo raised his hand triumphantly, letting out a roar that echoed throughout the arena, his expression a mix of relief and elation. The energy of the crowd enveloped him, and he basked in the glory of his hard-earned win.

Emery couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride for his friend.

The event concluded with a grand ceremony to honor the top Magus participants. As Magus Rosia presented the awards, the atmosphere was filled with a sense of accomplishment and excitement. Each of the champions received not only valuable artifacts and resources but also well-deserved promotions and higher rankings within the Terra forces. The recognition solidified their status among peers and further encouraged camaraderie within the ranks.

With the formalities completed, the festive celebrations erupted. Tables laden with a sumptuous feast overflowed with exquisite dishes from various realms, while musicians filled the air with lively melodies, enhancing the joyful atmosphere. Laughter and cheers echoed throughout the arena as friends and allies mingled, sharing stories of their triumphs and experiences.

However, amidst the revelry, Emery’s thoughts remained focused on one person—Julian. The recent events weighed heavily on his mind, and he knew it was time to have a proper conversation with his Roman friend.
