Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 1971: Earth Under Attack 9

The previously beautiful-looking man underwent a drastic transformation, morphing into a reptile-like hybrid with massive limbs covered in green scaly skin. His facial features now resembled that of an alligator, creating a stark contrast to his previous appearance. It became apparent that this monstrous form was Dongbaiʼs true state, while the human facade served to restrict his power.

The data displayed by VIA showcased a significant augmentation in strength:

[Grand Magus Realm, One Cosmos]

[Law of Fire 35%]

[Law of Light 10%]

[Law of Beast 12 (20)%]

[Soul Force 578 (653)]

[Battle Power 879 (1345)]

This data reflected a substantial surge in strength, transforming Dongbai into a formidable adversary. A level four Cosmos, a figure comparable to a grand magus with two Cosmos formed. The sudden transformation caught Emery off guard, leaving him little time to comprehend the enhanced threat.

Before Emery could fully react, the alligator-like hybrid charged at him with astonishing speed, delivering a powerful strike that sent Emery plummeting toward the lunar surface. In a seamless follow-up, Dongbai closed the distance, executing a swift and precise kick that launched Emery back into the moonlit sky. As Emery struggled mid-air, Dongbaiʼs enraged voice echoed, ”You dare to hurt my beautiful face!! Now you pay!!”

The hybrid grand magus closed in on Emery with relentless speed, launching a barrage of strikes from both the left and right, each blow connecting without giving Emery a momentʼs respite. The advantage of Emeryʼs [Fusion] form lay primarily in its defensive capabilities and increased strength, offering limited enhancements to his agility. As a result, Emery struggled to match the ferocious pace of the grand magusʼs assault.

Despite Emeryʼs attempts to resist, the onslaught proved overwhelming. He couldnʼt muster the necessary speed to dodge or block the rapid succession of attacks. Even attempts to employ his swift defensive spells like [Blink] or [Aegis of Void] were constantly interrupted, leaving him vulnerable. The forceful gravity spell, [Expulsion], failed to provide enough repulsion to distance himself from the relentless strikes.

BAM!! BAM!! BAM!!

The echoing sounds of each impactful hit resonated throughout the lunar battleground. With each blow, fragments of Emeryʼs plant armor shattered, causing him intense pain. The relentless assault raised concerns for Emery – if the onslaught persisted, the damage inflicted could potentially extend beyond him to harm his plant creature as well.

As a last resort, Emery channeled all his power into a desperate move—[Anti Magic]. While not highly effective against a physically dominant opponent, the spell managed to stun the grand magus momentarily, providing Emery with the crucial opening he needed. Seizing the opportunity, Emery unleashed his roots, rapidly entwining and capturing the struggling figure.

”ARRGHH!!! Keep your filthy things away from me!” roared the alligator-faced grand magus. Despite his considerable strength, he managed to break free from the ensnaring roots. Unwilling to let go of this chance, Emery relentlessly regenerated more roots and, with a final surge of effort, pierced his claws into the hybrid figure.

SPLLAATT!!!

The sensation of multiple claws penetrating his body was not enough to kill a grand magus of such caliber, but Emery had counted on the side effect that accompanied his attack.

[Spirit Devour]

”YOU BASTARD!!! GET OFF ME!!” The grand magus turned pale, attempting to break free with increasing desperation. Emery, however, maintained his grip, refusing to release the powerful hybrid despite the continuous assault on his own body.

”DAMMIT!!” The grand magusʼ cries echoed through the lunar landscape as Emery held on tenaciously, enduring the relentless struggle.

It was unfortunate that the grand magusʼs power was not fully compatible with Emeryʼs, resulting in the Spirit Devour being less effective. To exacerbate matters, the intensified heat of the flames began to sear Emeryʼs internal core. The perceptive grand magus seized upon this weakness, deciding to intensify the flames, turning the area around them into burning molten balls. Ȓ𝘼ΝÔ₿ĘŞ

Emery writhed in agony, not possessing the strength to resist such an overwhelming force, and found himself being burned both internally and externally. The overwhelming heat threatened to consume him entirely when, unexpectedly, a portal materialized beside him. A gentle arm emerged from the portal, wrapping around Emery and providing a soothing touch that gradually alleviated his pain to the extent of devouring the flames.

”WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!” The grand magus roar in suprised.

It was Morgana who appeared through the portal, surrounded by an ethereal glow, utilizing the power of Khaos Guardian. Alongside her, a majestic dragon-shaped flame, entered the fray, merging with the molten ball of fire. Killgragahʼs voice echoed,

The grand magusʼs desperate screams echoed within the fiery vortex. ”FUCK, HELP ME!!” In response, the pirate chieftain, having regained a portion of his strength, rushed back to the scene. His weakened thunder blasts, while not potent enough to breach Emeryʼs defenses, served as persistent disruptions. With each strike, the molten balls trembled, causing anguish to all trapped within.

Emery stood resilient against the onslaught, but the same couldnʼt be said for Morgana. The relentless thunder hits took a toll on her, making her cough up blood as the connection between their minds intensified. Despite the evident pain, Morgana, with unwavering determination, insisted, ”I am fine... continue!”

Torn between the suffering of Morgana and the necessity to suppress the grand magus, Emery gritted his teeth. The turmoil within him was palpable as he assessed the dire situation. In that critical moment, he decided not to take any more chances with Morganaʼs life. Channeling the gathered spirit energy, he unleashed a powerful blast that shattered the molten prison, freeing them all from the searing flames.

Emery swiftly pushed her back towards the portal, a gentle yet urgent motion. He then swiftly dashed away, making a beeline for the entrance of the Moon Base.

”YOU ARE NOT RUNNING!!”

The enraged roar of the grand magus reverberated behind him, signaling their relentless pursuit. Aware of the Moon Baseʼs construction from high-grade, durable materials, Emery hoped that breaching its fortified walls would prove to be a significant challenge for the pursuing adversaries.

Reaching the entrance just in the nick of time, Emery plunged through the doorway. The heavy door began its descent, sealing off the outside world and momentarily providing a sense of safety. However, the alligator-faced grand magus, fueled by determination, intensified his efforts to prevent the door from closing completely.

With a combined surge of strength, the two grand magus barely managed to slip inside before the heavy door was sealed shut.

The metallic corridors of the Moon Base echoed with their triumphant declaration,

”You can run! But you canʼt hide!!”
