Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 1969: Earth Under Attack 7

Realizing the imminent threat posed by the second grand magus, Emery knew he had to seize the opportunity to incapacitate or eliminate the pirate chieftain before facing both formidable opponents.

Swiftly channeling his power, Emery unleashed another [Dao Edge] toward the pale and exhausted grand magus. However, the significant depletion of spirit energy from the previous spell rendered this attack only half as potent. The result was a massive cut through Chieftain Gaizanʼs chest, splattering blood into the void of space. Despite the gravity of the wound, the attack was not fatal.

The heavy voices of the pirates echoed with chuckles ”You... failed!” A sudden figure emerged from the shadows just a few meters behind the laughing chieftain. It was Chumo, patiently waiting for the opportune moment. Already in his Nightwalker form, Chumo hurled two tier 6 daggers—an wind-based weapon obtained from the Nephilim [Breezefall] and Emeryʼs own [Shadow Bane], infused with the power of the two laws. Both daggers sailed through the vacuum of space in eerie silence.

”NOO!!!” the pirates exclaimed, realizing the imminent danger.

As the dagger hurtled toward the pirate chieftain, his face contorted in sheer terror at the impending doom. However, a sudden intervention spared him from the fatal strike. The chieftainʼs closest aide, a female magus, materialized in front of him with breathtaking speed. She summoned the power of ice, crafting a formidable barrier that intercepted the incoming dagger.

Despite her valiant effort, the full moon magus, still reeling from the effects of Emeryʼs last spell, couldnʼt fully deflect the dagger. The projectile pierced through her defenses, finding its mark and causing her to crumple to the lunar surface like a broken kite. A hushed silence followed as her presence on the battlefield dwindled.

”Again!!!” Emery roared, determination etched across his face. He poised for another powerful sword slash, prepared to unleash the full force of his martial prowess. Simultaneously, Chumo retrieved the two daggers, gearing up for another round of swift and deadly strikes. However, their coordinated assault faced a formidable obstacle.

The pirate chieftain, gathering the remnants of his strength, managed to draw a breath. In a surge of renewed vigor, he unleashed a furious roar that echoed across the lunar landscape. The resounding soundwaves disrupted the precision of both Emeryʼs sword slash and Chumoʼs dagger assault. The pirate chieftain, though severely weakened, demonstrated a defiant resilience.

”I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!!!” he bellowed, his threat reverberating through the desolate expanse. Despite his menacing proclamation, the pirate chieftain remained visibly compromised, struggling to maintain his stance.

However, the battlefield dynamic shifted as the second grand magus descended like a blazing comet, joining the confrontation alongside the wounded pirate chieftain.

The long-haired grand magus calmly observed the chaotic scene on the lunar surface, a detached expression on his face. A sigh escaped his lips as he remarked, ”No one survives? To think the thunder leopard would be wiped out by such a young magus.” He then turned his attention to the wounded pirate chieftain and spoke with an air of authority, ”Gaizan, focus on recovery. I will handle this matter.”

Gaizanʼs response was a burst of rage, vehemently rejecting the suggestion, ”NO fucking way!! I will kill that bastard myself!”

Calmly, the grand magus countered, ”No, if something happens to you, King Gaira will punish me.”

Surprisingly, the words from the long-haired grand magus were enough to quell the anger boiling within the hybrid pirate chieftain. Gaizan, despite his fury, hesitated, sensing the gravity of the situation.

Emery, having just consumed more restoring pills to replenish his energy, seized the opportunity to assess his new opponentʼs capabilities. He discreetly checked the grand magusʼs stats.

[Grand Magus Realm, One Cosmos]

[Law of Fire 35%]

[Law of Light 10%]

[Law of Beast 12%]

[Soul Force 578]

[Battle Power 879]

Analyzing the data, Emery noted that the grand magus was at Cosmos level 2, similar to Gaizan. However, VIAʼs warning resonated in his mind, reminding him that these were base statistics and that the true extent of the grand magusʼs power remained concealed. Emery discerned the subtle signs that the man deliberately masked his true strength.

Emery felt the weight of the ticking clock as VIAʼs countdown echoed in his mind—still another one hour and 42 minutes left until reinforcements arrived. Facing two grand magus simultaneously exceeded his limits, making the need to incapacitate one quickly imperative. Survival depended on defeating the long-haired grand magus before Gaizan fully recovered.

As Emery strategized, the grand magus initiated the offensive. Conjuring two balls of fire infused with the potent laws of flames, he hurled them at Emery. In response, Emery deftly wielded his blades, slashing through each fiery projectile.

KABOOMM! KABOOMM!

The resulting explosions reverberated through the lunar expanse, yet Emery stood unscathed. The long-haired grand magus, undeterred, wore a satisfied smile. He taunted, ”Letʼs see if you are strong enough to handle these, then.” 𝖗𝓪ℕ𝘖ΒĚʂ

The grand magus, with an air of calm determination, shifted his tactics. Rather than forming the flames into a ball, he condensed the powerful energies into a single crimson dot at the tips of his fingers. In an instant, a bright crimson beam shot forth toward Emery with incredible speed, catching Emery off guard. In a swift reaction, he used the Void Blade to parry the intense energy beam, but the force behind it was formidable. The impact sent Emery stumbling backward. To his surprise, the crimson beam didnʼt dissipate upon contact; instead, it curved back towards him, prompting Emery to dodge quickly using his Blink ability. As he reappeared, the grand magus unleashed three more crimson beams simultaneously, attacking Emery from multiple directions. The lunar battlefield echoed with the rhythmic clanks of Emeryʼs blades, showcasing his profound proficiency in swordsmanship. Each attack from the grand magus was met with a powerful counter in the form of Emeryʼs strike. The dance of blades and spells unfolded as Emery adeptly blocked, dodged, and countered, gradually adapting to the beamʼs speed and trajectory.

Emery knew he had to find an opening to counterattack before the second grand magus, Gaizan, fully joined the battle. Hence, he forces himself to gradually close in on his target.

Realizing Emeryʼs intention, the long-haired grand magus abruptly shifted away, a sly smile playing on his lips. ”You think youʼre so smart, donʼt you? Letʼs see if you can block this.”

Five beams of intense energy materialized, and Emery, displaying his newfound understanding of the attack, managed to block four of them with precision. However, his focus shifted abruptly as he realized the fifth beam was not aimed at him but directly at his friend.

”Chumo!!!”
