The Golem Mage

In the center of the War God Mage Academy, the same place where the academy wide arena that connected all the other part of the academy was located, a large mirror screen was there now, displaying the events of the third round of the inter-academy competition unfolding at the Royal Grand Arena.

For the first time in a long while, the War God Academy arena was packed to the brim.

Even some of the newly enrolled students, who started alongside Alec and the others in the team, were taken aback by the sheer number of spectators that had turned up.

They had not expected so many of their seniors to come out and support the academy’s first-year team, they didn’t even know they had that much seniors in the first place,

As many of them are just seeing some faces for the first time.

This was something even the new Dean, all the way in the capital, was unaware of and hadn’t anticipated.

He had sent one of the captain-level Black-Armoured Mage guards to deliver sufficient funds to Elder Alfred, along with a message instructing him to purchase the mirror crystals that would broadcast the War God Academy team’s next match.

Elder Alfred, known for his laziness, felt targeted by this duty.

He nearly wailed when assigned such a task, lamenting heavily, he had thought that with the new Dean gone, he could finally slack off.

Yet the old Dean, who had vanished for some time, seemed to return like a specter, interrupting his cherished naptime.

However, since the command came directly from the old Dean, he couldn’t afford to take it lightly or slack off.

After all, beyond just being his superior, the old Dean was also his master.

Reluctantly, he dragged along Terran, who seemed free at the moment, to help him fulfil this new errand.

Although Terran was irritated by being roped into running errands, but he recognized that the old man that was acting eccentric for the first time didn’t have many friends in the academy.

It could be said that he was one of the most disliked individuals, seen as a lazy bum who offered no benefit to anyone.

Despite this, Terran willingly tagged along since he was his partner in crime anyways, as he used his prestige to have some younger disciples spread the word that the next round would be displayed in the arena.

The news even reached all the cities of the Shadow Rift (formerly referred to as the Space Passage) connected to the War God Academy.

This was Terran’s way of ensuring that the old Dean’s wishes came to fruition; he wanted people to attend and support the team.

Given that the academy was in a bind and couldn’t afford to send a large contingent of students to cheer the team on in the capital, he felt it would be better if they at least came to witness their team’s performance and see how they were helping to elevate the War God Academy’s name to new heights.

What Terran had envisioned would be a modest turnout turned out a full Arena, this stunning reality dazzled him, so much so that he wouldn’t have been surprised if someone told him this was the entire student body present.

Senior students, who had long since vanished from the academy, returned from various Shadow Rifts, eager to see the mages who had taken their academy to the Top 4 academies rank, a feat none of the current students had thought possible.

Even instructors who had been in seclusion emerged to watch the battle.

A few minutes after the battle began, Terran stood with his mouth agape, staring at the screen in disbelief, questioning whether what he was witnessing was real or simply a hallucination.

He had been on the verge of madness from all the rejected proposals he had received while trying to secure time to cultivate in the mental Cultivation rooms, so he pinched his hand to confirm if he was truly present, with the painful sting making him realize everything he was watching at the moment was indeed real.

“Fast breakthrough, stable foundation, unmatched martial abilities, and a very strategic mind, a predator in the skin of a human ,” remarked the Centaur Prince, who had quietly appeared beside Terran and Elder Alfred in the corner they watched from, both of whom were staring at Alec on the screen with astonished expressions.

“Old man, I think my eyes might be playing tricks on me because I’m seeing my own disciple executing moves and techniques I didn’t even teach him, please help me confirm, maybe the person I’m watching isn’t really him, and I’m just delusional from missing my disciple’s company?” Terran said, slowly turning his head toward Elder Alfred, who was sitting beside him.

Elder Alfred turned toward him with a weak smile.

“If what you just described is indeed what you’re seeing, then it means you are not the only one delusional.

I must also be out of my mind for buying the mirror crystal of another team, thinking it was the War God Academy’s own, because while would I be seeing someone who looks just like my little Bee,” he replied, half-jokingly and half-mockingly.

As both he and Terran tilted their head back towards the large 70-foot-wide crystal mirror, they confirmed that their disciples were indeed the ones on the screen.

“But how?” Elder Alfred pondered aloud, just before Beatrice had left the academy, she seemed to have hit a bottleneck, and he was confident she would break through, because that was his belief in her as a genius Mage still young with a lot of potential.

However, his expectation had been that this breakthrough would be a small realm own, he still remembers, hearing that the War God Academy team had reached the Top 4, this had baffled him; as such an accomplishment had seemed impossible.

Having attended those tournaments himself while accompanying his master, the old Dean, in the past, he knew that the standards of the eight great academies were well above that of the War God Mage Academy.

But now, seeing the level displayed by the entire team and the captain especially, he finally understood why they had come so far, as his gaze locked onto Alec.

“Able to summon multiple golems at once, always a one man army, you’re still waving the War God Academy flag brilliantly even out of the academy’s grounds,” Elder Alfred mumbled as he recalled what he had heard Terran say earlier.

This caused him to turn back toward Terran for a moment.

“Hope you don’t mind, but I want to ask you a quick question.

Did you just say you weren’t the one who taught him those incredible sword techniques?” Elder Alfred questioned almost instantly.

“Of course not!

You know I’m more of a great sword user.

Still, I would have loved to spar with my students and help him identify some flaws.”

“But his sword technique looks so flawless; all that’s lacking is power and realm to make him one of the most feared swordsmen in the Northern Kingdom,” Terran replied, ensuring his eyes remained glued to the screen.

“If you’re not the one who taught him those techniques, then who did?” Alfred pressed.

“Well, I heard that his grandfather is skilled with the katana, and his basic sword skills were learned from a skill book his grandfather gave him, in a way, you could say his Grand father is his teacher, but this technique just seems too good,” Terran answered rapidly, clearly eager not to be interrupted again.

Meanwhile, at the Gordon household, the patriarch of the Gordon clan was similarly questioned about whether he had taught Alec the incredible sword techniques he was using.

His response was:

“There is a slight resemblance to the katana techniques I taught him, but the fundamentals have been completely altered.

It’s almost as if he’s been training with a sword for a very long time.”

“And as much as I’d like to take credit for this, I just can’t.

I think this is the work of his new instructor at the academy,” the patriarch replied to his brothers, The Elders of the Gordons clan.

In that exact moment, both individuals, separated by who knows how many cities and distance coughed simultaneously, as they both felt that someone must have been speaking ill of them somewhere, as coughing was peculiar for mages to do out of nowhere.
