Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1222: Knocking on the Door of Death! (3)

Under the Death Lord’s terror, a Death Knight Commander was reduced to drifting ash after facing her black curses. Legendary Lord undead screaming as their soul-fire was extinguished forever. Even the Legendary King undead retreated the moment her presence appeared on the battlefield.

The most terrifying part was not her power itself, but the reaction of the undead. The roaming undead armies feared her.

Whenever the Death Lord appeared personally, the tides of undead would become abnormally cautious, changing formations and avoiding direct confrontation unless overwhelming numbers were present.

It was as though the Undead Skyfall Canyons themselves had marked her as something dangerous!

Of course, there were exceptions. Whenever the terrifying Quasi-Myth undead emerged from the inner regions, the situation immediately reversed. Even the Death Lord was forced to retreat.

Several times, survivors witnessed horrifying battles erupt across the ruined continent, with black curse storms swallowing entire undead legions and heaven-shaking death laws colliding with monstrous Quasi-Myth authorities.

Continents trembling beneath clashes no Legendary King should have survived, and every single time afterward, the Death Lord returned wounded, but alive.

That alone became the survivors’ foundation of hope because, unlike everyone else, she could survive against those monsters, and that was enough.

Slowly, resistance became unity: Life Faction survivors and Dead Faction remnants, even former enemies who once butchered each other on the battlefield, now fought beneath the same banner of survival!

No one dared oppose the Death Lord anymore because everyone understood the same truth. Without her, they would’ve already become part of the undead tide.

At this moment, deep within the former territories once known as the Evil Domain of the Fiend Race, hidden beneath countless collapsed mountains and poisonous abyssal ravines, a concealed fortress existed in silence.

This place had once belonged to a Fiend King, a secret sanctuary built long ago against rival races and internal betrayals. But now it had become the survivors’ shelter and the base of resistance.

Enormous ancient formations concealed the entire underground domain. Rivers of corrupted lava flowed through gigantic caverns while black crystal pylons illuminated vast underground structures with dim crimson light.

The architecture was savage and ancient, with massive, demonic statues lining the corridors and chains thicker than towers hanging from the ceilings. Ancient Fiend inscriptions glowed faintly upon walls forged from abyss-metal.

Despite its sinister appearance, the place had become the safest region within Sagittarius at least temporarily.

Within the fortress, activity never ceased; wounded experts rested inside sealed chambers. King Alchemist desperately refined recovery resources from dwindling materials.

The Dead Faction and Life Faction worked side by side for the first time in history, maintaining barriers against the creeping death mist, because they knew that if this mist penetrated here, the legions of undead would soon descend.

Outside the hidden domain, scouts constantly moved, but not to expand or conquer, only to survive another day.

Especially after what happened a few years ago when an abrupt opening appeared in the sky, and everyone thought that it was a chance to escape these hellish lands.

However, the Death Lord tried to stop them, but some didn’t listen and quickly headed towards the opening. But in the end, the moment they tried to escape through the opening, they all met with the same fate…death, and joined the Undead Armies!

Since that day, the Death Lord’s presence had become even more important to these survivors as they no longer had any thought of resisting her, and followed her every command.

At the center of the underground fortress stood the largest chamber. No guards existed there, and no one dared approach casually, for this was the Death Lord’s territory!

At this moment, silence filled the enormous hall. A colossal throne forged from black crystal and intertwined bones rested atop elevated stairs. Ancient curses flowed across the floor like living serpents while dense death energy saturated every inch of the chamber.

Yet hidden beneath that overwhelming death aura, another peculiar power with a tainted yet ancient hue, filled with chaotic and forbidden intent, quietly lingered.

It swirled around the silhouette seated upon the throne like a sleeping abyss. The figure remained motionless as though meditating and listening to something far away.

Then suddenly, the surrounding death energy trembled violently as the calm flow of curses destabilized. Even the throne beneath the silhouette released faint cracking sounds.

A pair of abyss-like eyes abruptly opened, and for the first time in a very long while, uncertainty appeared within them before disbelief followed shortly afterward.

“What…no… impossible!”

The voice was low, yet the moment it echoed through the chamber, every curse surrounding the throne froze.

Elia slowly raised her head; her expression, which had remained cold and detached before countless Legendary Kings and Quasi-Myth undead alike, finally changed.

Because she had just felt something impossible, a familiar presence, a presence that should not have appeared here, her heartbeat unconsciously quickened.

Even the Throne of Death within her soul seemed to tremble strangely, and the next moment, Elia slowly stood from the throne.

The death mist around her distorted wildly, her eyes stared toward the distant surface of Sagittarius Continent as countless thoughts flashed through her mind.

“This familiarity…could it really be…teacher…?” Her voice was filled with disbelief and longing as she dreamt of the day she would reunite with her teacher.

Moreover, she had recently achieved the Legendary King State Rank, which no one knew about. For her, achieving this rank was her lifelong goal because this marked the completion of the task given to her by her teacher.

Furthermore, the moment she completed this task, information came to her mind, information about how she could contact her teacher through the Virtual Star World.

All she needed to do was enter the Virtual Star World and search for the Star ID that should belong to her teacher, but because she was trapped in this place, this simple task became impossible.

That’s why she started to really hate the Undead Skyfall Canyons even more and vowed to eradicate them and reunite with her teacher before the time limit her teacher set for her runs out.

But today, she suddenly felt something within her stirring, which instantly reminded her of her teacher.

Elia’s cold eyes suddenly turned slightly misty as she muttered with a hint of disbelief and deep anticipation, “Are you really here for me?! You haven’t forgotten about me and abandon me!”
