Lord of the Truth

Chapter 1025: First move

”... Your corpses will turn into demon shit by the end of the day!”

Robinʼs words fell like a bomb over everyoneʼs heads. It didnʼt matter if they were the marshals and imperial guards or even Caesar and the other three companions. All of them looked at Robin with raised eyebrows, trying to process what had just been said. Even Hulak let out a faint whistle, sitting up straighter in his seat, clearly excited.

Would a battle take place today? Most likely, yes. Every person present knew this without exception. But this did not diminish the weight of Robinʼs words... He was threatening them in their own stronghold, surrounded by an elite force of their best men, while he had only four individuals with him!

”You...” Pythor stood slowly, disbelief and astonishment evident on his face. ”What did you just say?”

Robin, opening his eyes wide, gradually raised his voice. ”My words were loud and clear. If you have another offer, spit it out. If you really came here today with just this nonsense, then letʼs save some words and hand me your head!”

”Fool, a mere fool who cannot recognize death when it stares him in the face!!” Marshal Serbal rose, infuriated. ”His Majesty grants you a way to live, even though we have direct orders from the Ovelord to kill you, and yet you, a mere ant, refuse? Are you insane?!”

”The insane one is the one who listens to you!” Robin turned slightly toward Marshal Serbal, his gaze filled with contempt. ”What, am I supposed to feel flattered that your Overlord issued an order to kill me? And you, a bunch of slaves, have the power to defy a direct order from him? Doesnʼt that mean you would still try to kill me even if we reached an agreement today? What idiocy is this?”

Marshal First Celibus cast a reproachful look at Serbal before turning back to face Robin. ”The order was to kill you alone or capture you. Submit to the orders, and the consequences will be much lighter.”

”Oh, stop the war, return everything to you, and surrender myself? How delightful...” Robin let out a bitter laugh. ”I wonder what would happen to me afterward?”

Marshal First Celibus didnʼt back down either. ”Perhaps the Supreme Lord would treat you as a respected Truth Seeker and keep you by his side. Or perhaps he would kill you in one strike. That would depend on the Supreme Lord. But at least your followers and children would be safe and avoid a fate worse than death.”

”And who exactly would give them that fate?! Ugh, I donʼt know if this is stupidity or arrogance, but youʼre boasting in front of me because your Supreme Lord has other followers?” Robinʼs gaze swept across everyone present. ”Did you bring me to these so- called negotiations to tell me there are other planetary empires that might seek revenge if I destroy you? No problem, Iʼll kill you all today and wait for them. Letʼs see if your Overlord wants to lose all his resources in the Young Planetary Belt!”

”Incollence! And we are the arrogant ones? Do you think you can stand against the Overlord? Against all the planetary empires under his rule? Youʼre delusional!” Marshal Lacrosse clenched both fists tightly. He did not want to see a battle begin today. ”Be rational, man. I know someone who built a planetary empire isnʼt naive to this degree. If you anger the Supreme Lord to the point of moving all his forces, your authority over a few planets wonʼt help you. No one will be able to save you!”

”How I deal with my enemies and whether I will triumph or not is none of your concern. All of you will be dead by the end of the day, regardless of whether I win or lose against them. It wonʼt make a difference to a pile of dust and bones!” Robin waved dismissively, his tone full of disdain.

The threats from the opposing side were simply illogical: Would you prefer to be defeated today or tomorrow?

”...Fine.” Pythor didnʼt remain in disbelief for long after Robinʼs words. He gestured sideways. ”Zanox, do it.”

”At once!” The marshal quickly retrieved an object from the box beside him. It was a small pyramid with a dark blue color, almost black.

Oooomnnnnnn~

Upon activating the small pyramid, it began emitting successive waves that caused everyone to feel a headache for a moment before the sensation faded.

”What is this thing? Are you trying to make us laugh to death?” Holak tilted his head back and laughed loudly. His readiness for battle vanished in an instant after reaching its peak. ”...That object emits waves that affect the fabric of space, but it causes no harm,” Robin scrutinized the dark pyramid. ”It... prevents manipulation of space pathways?”

”Thatʼs correct!” Pythor raised his hands slowly and looked down at Robin. ”This is a mid- tier epic artifact used to deactivate spatial gates within a hundred-mile radius. We spent half our savings to acquire it, just to prevent you from using that annoying instant spatial gate. No one can leave, and you wonʼt be receiving any reinforcements... Robin Burton, you are the one who will become a corpse by the end of today!”

Robin glanced at his hand beneath the table and tried to create a spatial tear, but Ba! Ba! The tear was warped and immediately vanished.

”...?!” Robin fell silent, the anger that had built up inside him during his exchange with Jaba dissipating. The arrogance he had held as he spoke from a position of power was now gone. That Pythor... was he incredibly smart or just incredibly lucky?

By bringing this device, which constantly manipulated the fabric of space, he had unintentionally neutralized one of Robinʼs strongest weapons. Robin could no longer freely use the laws of space!

Cough, cough ”So... does this mean you have no other offer?” Robin smiled shamelessly. ”Hahaha! Hereʼs another offer: Do you want a quick death or a slow one?” Pythor laughed loudly, clearly realizing that his opponent had grasped the gravity of the situation.

”Tsk- Damn it all,” Robin muttered, his expression shifting back to one of irritation. He then gestured toward Marshal Zannox. ”Richard, bring me that pyramid.”

”Understood.”

BOOOOOOM!
