Chapter 104 Underground Vault

Chapter 104 Underground Vault
Zhang Cheng quickly traveled all over the No. [-] mercenary camp, but what puzzled Zhang Cheng was that he never found the so-called mercenary camp treasury.

”What is the use of this thing?”

A copper-colored key dangled from Zhang Cheng’s finger. It was the key to the treasury that he had obtained when he first killed the Giant Scorpion in the Desert.

If you can’t find the vault, wouldn’t this trip be in vain?
”Brother Cheng, the brothers seem to have discovered something!”

At this moment, Ah Hao’s voice came from behind, Zhang Cheng subconsciously turned his head and saw Ah Hao waving to him excitedly.

Zhang Cheng’s heart moved, and he hurriedly followed Ah Hao to the place where the camp members had discovered.

”It’s hidden so deep, no wonder I didn’t find it before.”

Walking down a long underground tunnel, Zhang Cheng became more and more certain that the mysterious mercenary vault was at the end of the tunnel.

The entrance to the tunnel is covered under a wooden box, and no flaws can be found from the outside.

Fortunately, some camp members were lucky enough to find this underground tunnel while searching for supplies, otherwise Zhang Cheng might really miss the vault today.

Zhang Cheng was secretly startled by the length of the tunnel, but his face was still calm, and he carefully paid attention to the movement around him.

Ah Hao and the others followed Zhang Cheng lightly with their steps pressed down. They had already traveled a long distance in the underground tunnel.

Calculated according to the speed and time of everyone’s travel, this underground passage may be deeper than Zhang Cheng imagined.

As a combat drone, the Saker is extremely agile in the air, and it can fly safely even in such narrow underground passages.

And the falcon basically does not make any sound when flying, which is very suitable for pathfinding now.

Zhang Cheng observed the situation ahead from the perspective of the falcon, and confirmed that there should be no major crisis ahead, so he led everyone in the camp to gradually speed up their pace.

Soon after, everyone saw what looked like a solid and tight metal door.

The underground passage is naturally pitch black, and the lighting work at this time can only rely on the flashlights that each player has.

The metal gate glowed silver under the light of the flashlight, and Zhang Cheng subconsciously took out the vault key from the inventory.

”This is indeed the treasury of the mercenary battalion...”

Zhang Cheng successfully inserted the key into the lock on the metal door, and the metal door opened automatically.

The two doors made a heavy friction sound during the opening process, as if they hadn’t opened this door for a long time.

”So what is this treasury used for? It’s placed so deep underground, shouldn’t it be just some ordinary supplies?”

Zhang Cheng secretly speculated, and at the same time pointed the flashlight in his hand straight ahead.

The flashlight emitted a bright beam, dispelling the darkness in front of him.

Ah Hao and others behind him also followed closely, lighting up the darkness ahead together.

Behind the metal gate is a cave that seems to be naturally formed, but someone has just set up an artificial gate here.

The area of the cave is quite large, almost close to some relatively large gymnasiums.

There are many gaps in the stone walls around the cave. From time to time, groundwater flows down from the stone gaps, making a ”tick, tick, tick” sound in the empty, dark cave.

”Why do I feel cold? Brother Cheng, is this really the mercenary vault you mentioned? It doesn’t look like there is any goods stored?”

Ah Hao rubbed his arms together with both hands, and couldn’t help but tremble all over and asked Zhang Cheng.

Zhang Cheng was also full of doubts at the moment, and naturally he couldn’t answer Ah Hao’s question. He thought that opening the vault would allow him to obtain the supplies that the mercenary camp had stored for many years, but now it seems that the completion of the matter is not going in this direction.

”Look! What is that?”

Wu Zhenghao’s voice suddenly rose. His voice was already loud, and in this empty underground cave, it aroused layers of echoes.

”Keep your voice down, you’ll scare me!” Ah Hao trembled again, but his eyes were already closely following the beam of light from Wu Zhenghao’s flashlight.

The light of Wu Zhenghao’s flashlight moved to a corner deep in the cave, and Zhang Cheng followed him to look at it, and suddenly took a deep breath.

”What the hell is that!”

Others in the camp reacted even more violently. Some people screamed, and some covered their mouths and noses. Girl Qingfeng was also in the team of this operation. She had been tempered in the apocalyptic environment and her mind was much firmer, but now her legs were stunned. He softened and almost fell to the ground.

Fortunately, someone was there to help, so Qingfeng girl was not embarrassed.

At this time, everyone was not in the mood to care about these things anymore, because they saw an extremely cruel scene.

Many ragged humans were locked in iron cages that looked like animals.

Each iron cage was about the size of a toilet, but six or seven people were directly stuffed inside, and some cages even had more than ten people.

It was almost impossible to stand in the iron cage. Some people had been trampled under the feet of others and were crushed to death.

Zhang Cheng didn’t count such iron cages in detail, but he felt that there were at least dozens of them.

It seemed that it was because they hadn’t seen a strong light for a long time, so when the flashlights of Zhang Cheng and others emitted a beam of light, the people in the iron cage screamed loudly and hurriedly covered their eyes.

Some people’s eyes were even red and swollen instantly.

”What’s going on here, what do these people have to do with mercenaries?”

Zhang Chengcheng came to prepare to pass through those iron cages, but he stopped after only taking two steps.

He found that the iron cages on the far left were empty, but the ground inside was already dark red, which naturally proved that there were people in them.

Zhang Cheng’s face suddenly changed: ”Everyone hide immediately! Someone is coming from behind!”

His ears were sharp, and he was sure he heard footsteps in the passage they had come in.

And judging from the sound of footsteps, there were quite a few people coming.

Hearing Zhang Cheng’s warning, the camp team immediately leaned close to the wall, held the weapon firmly in their hands, and pointed the muzzle at the metal door at the entrance of the cave.

The footsteps in Zhang Cheng’s ears suddenly disappeared without a trace. Of course, Zhang Cheng didn’t hear it wrong. Obviously, the other party had already reached the entrance of the underground tunnel and found the metal door that had been opened.

There was light passing by the entrance of the cave, and the light reflected from the metal door made Zhang Cheng see the picture a little bit clearly. There seemed to be a group of guys in black armor outside the cave.

—Like the Imperial Army!

Zhang Cheng was hit with a high level of spirit. The imperial army is not a good person, so he naturally knew something in his heart.

The howitzer was already in Zhang Cheng’s hand at the first moment, just waiting for the enemy to surprise him the moment he stepped into the cave.

Although the overall weight of the howitzer is not light, Zhang Cheng has no problem carrying the howitzer for a long time with his current physique.
