Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

[Darn it, whatever you do, don’t read the original comic.]

[Ahhhhhh, I’m dying of agony! Jiao Dai, how can you sleep? Get up and update, I’m begging you!]

[Who was so excited by the TV drama version that they couldn’t sleep and went to read the original comic? OK, it turns out it was all me! Now I’m staring at the ceiling until dawn. Old scoundrel Jiao Dai, when will you repay what you owe us?!]

[Oi, what sleep? Get up and update!]

[Fell from one pit into another. I was originally just waiting for the web drama ”Corner Also” to update. Now, great, I have to wait for the comic to update too. Life is hopeless!]

Many people had predicted before that after the comic adaptation drama went online, it would very likely bring massive traffic and heat to the original comic. Many fans of this IP would likely migrate between both sides simultaneously. The newly produced adaptation work and the original would drive traffic to each other, thereby bringing greater profit returns.

It’s just that no one expected the effect to be this good!

The exclusive serialization platform for the ”Corner Also” comic saw its single-day new downloads surge by nearly one million. Its ranking on the APP entertainment charts jumped to second place. The platform’s daily active users climbed to twenty million, setting a new historical single-day record. Among these, user behaviors related to ”reading the Corner Also comic” accounted for a staggering 41%, directly driving the platform’s overall user retention rate up to 46%, far exceeding the industry average.

Furthermore, the ”Corner Also” comic itself broke through a total read count of one billion in a short time, with total collections surpassing thirty million. It was already the platform’s overall number one, but now it was completely dominating, directly sweeping the charts. It ranked first by a huge margin on lists for total reads, total collections, total fan support rankings, etc., refreshing the platform’s historical records.

Additionally, derivative paid IPs related to ”Corner Also” also showed explosive growth trends. Physical books and merchandise sold like hotcakes, directly transforming the ”Corner Also” IP into one of the most commercially valuable super IPs this year. Many industry insiders asserted that although ”Corner Also” appeared at the beginning of the year, it was already a breakout IP that latercomers this year would be unable to surpass. It was the undisputed number one!

Seeing such data, all the beneficiaries related to ”Corner Also” were grinning from ear to ear.

Who could refuse such a golden goose?

Almost immediately, the platform and the related production team began urging Yan Shaohan to work overtime and update faster.

Even in related group chats, Yan Shaohan was bombarded with update demands.

There was no helping it, the ”Corner Also” IP was truly lucrative!

But currently, the parts of the story that could be filmed had basically already been shot. The remaining plot existed entirely in Yan Shaohan’s head and hadn’t been drawn out yet.

Whether the final outcome would be a stroke of genius or a pile of crap depended entirely on Yan Shaohan’s decision.

Once the ending came out, they would start filming immediately. They were determined to get their share of this feast!

The platform even privately contacted Yan Shaohan, hoping that while he persisted with updates, he could stretch out the storyline a bit, draw more content, and not finish so quickly, making it convenient for their platform to sustain the heat subsequently.

In other words, they hoped Yan Shaohan could pad it out a little more. They wanted to make money.

Yan Shaohan: ?

Wait, I just want to rest as I please! Why is everyone pressuring me?

Even Zhuang Hongyi, who had always greatly respected Yan Shaohan’s creative freedom, couldn’t help but send a message urging him to update.

Yan Shaohan: ...Help! Don’t come pressure me!

So, that night, Yan Shaohan, who was utterly fed up with the pressure, directly posted a Moment on his social media.

[Yan Shaohan: Don’t pressure me! I’m really drawing it, drawing it!]

And his comment section instantly gathered comments from many people.

[Zhuang Hongyi: Staring—]

[Yuan Sitong: Director Yan, come on, I even had my fans click ’urge update’ for you. Hurry up and update! (No other meaning, just purely want to pressure you)]

[Xiao He: Director Yan, come on, my spirit is with you.]

[Fan Congwen: Little junior, just waiting for your follow-up script. Hurry up!]

[Guo Xinya: Little Yan, come on! I’m really looking forward to the subsequent plot!]

Below the comments were people stirring things up, watching the fun, and some coming over to congratulate him. But in the end, Yan Shaohan only replied to Guo Xinya.

[Yan Shaohan replied: Thank you for the encouragement, goddess! I’m now filled with motivation, immediately entering my writing cave to furiously draw three chapters for the update! [dog head holding a rose]]

[Guo Xinya replied: Okay! Come on!]

[Yuan Sitong replied: Hmph, only replying to your goddess? What about us? Do you know you look a lot like a simp right now?]

[Yan Shaohan replied: Get lost! Don’t spread baseless rumors!!!]

The comment section, ignited by Yuan Sitong’s blunt, devil-may-care remark, fueled everyone’s teasing enthusiasm. Even though they knew Yan Shaohan and Guo Xinya didn’t have the ambiguous relationship everyone imagined, it didn’t stop them from joining in with a few jokes at this moment. Guo Xinya, after a moment of silence, quite helplessly replied with a sweating emoji and didn’t say anything more.

Only Yuan Sitong’s manager, Tang Wenjuan, let out a sharp shriek upon seeing Yuan Sitong’s devilish comment.

”Ahhhh, what is this little ancestor doing again?!”

One sentence successfully offended two people.

So freaking awkward!

However, Yuan Sitong was completely unconcerned, crossing her legs and playing a game while saying offhandedly, ”It’s fine. Sister Xinya isn’t that petty. And as for Yan Shaohan, I’ve already offended him long ago. This one more time doesn’t make a difference.”

Tang Wenjuan: ...

Tang Wenjuan was almost convinced by Yuan Sitong’s words, but she quickly snapped back to reality.

”Wait, you seem to have forgotten a very important thing—”

Tang Wenjuan looked at Yuan Sitong with pity.

”Don’t forget ’Corner Also’ Season 3 hasn’t been filmed yet. Your character isn’t dead.”

And the creation of the subsequent plot rested entirely on Yan Shaohan’s whim.

What if that guy held a grudge and inserted some personal bias during the creative process... Yuan Sitong’s character might die a very miserable death.

Dying miserably also meant Yuan Sitong would definitely have to film some very miserable scenes then.

Adding new grievances to old grudges then...

Tsk tsk.

When Tang Wenjuan thought it over, she realized she felt a little anticipation.

Ahem, it definitely wasn’t because she felt secretly pleased seeing the young missy get a taste of her own medicine...

On the other side, Xiao He also saw Yuan Sitong’s comment and almost spat out his water.

”What is she doing?”

Xiao He once again refreshed his understanding of Yuan Sitong.

Liu Rulan glanced at it and actually felt a bit emotional. ”I wish I could live a life as caustic and arrogant as hers.”

Xiao He: ...

Thinking of some of Liu Rulan’s past maneuvers, Xiao He’s eye twitched slightly.

Yuan Sitong was caustic without thinking.

But when Sister Liu got caustic, that was truly... ahem, definitely not meaning to speak ill of Sister Liu.

Xiao He, with great self-awareness, changed the subject. ”After finishing the events here, I have to go back to ’Record of Chasing the Wind,’ right?”

”Right.” Liu Rulan nodded. ”After such a long gap, you should be well-prepared by now, right?”

”Yeah.” Xiao He smiled wryly. ”If we drag it out any longer, Director Deng is really going to come swing on a swing at our company’s entrance.”

The filming of ”Record of Chasing the Wind” had been delayed long enough, mainly because many things had happened during this period, causing the shooting schedule to be postponed again and again. If they hadn’t secured the funds and topped up another investment, Xiao He feared that ”sentimental” Director Deng, who was easily affected by external factors, would have started his own pattern of slacking off when the wind was against him again.

But fortunately, their money came through.

With money, all of Director Deng’s discomforts vanished. He even took this opportunity to happily order a batch of things.

Although Xiao He didn’t understand what could still be bought at this stage, he had pretty much figured out this Director Deng.

This guy was truly worthy of the title—money cures all ills!
