Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

The premiere heat for ”Corner Also” broke ten thousand, and that very night, its discussion index soared straight up across all platforms. It made an instant, unannounced landing on Weibo’s Hot Search, with related topic discussions exceeding thirty million, directly giving Penguin a great start to the new year and booking it as this year’s breakout hit.

As long as it can maintain this momentum steadily moving forward, ”Corner Also”’s final broadcast performance will definitely be far beyond just this.

Looking at the plot, the early episodes are still mainly laying groundwork. Although there are fight scenes, the much-anticipated return-to-youth plotline hasn’t arrived yet. It’s almost halfway through the second episode before the female lead finally sheds her elderly body form and officially embarks on the road to find the other test subjects.

It’s from here that the plot starts climbing, going from strength to strength. The members of the main party begin to assemble. The fight scenes become more spectacular than the opening elderly form sequences. The combination of a cool, badass heroine and handsome men directly outshines many other works airing at the same time, leaving viewers utterly captivated.

Most importantly, the female lead’s personality is also the very cool, decisive type. She repays every grudge. Even when enemies come in wave after wave, she accepts them all, dealing with them one by one, cleanly and without the slightest mercy. Even starting in an old woman’s body didn’t affect her ability to decisively defeat the mysterious organization’s assassins sent to capture her at all. There’s no dragging things out. She’s a strong female lead completely different from the delicate, innocent type.

And this time, the casting really fits the characters perfectly. The actors playing the main party members are all the kind with a relatively strong, imposing aura. For example, Xiao He—his nickname ”Brother Dao” in the industry isn’t for nothing. And for example, Yuan Sitong—as a currently popular rising star, she’s already playing female leads in other scripts. And then there’s Li Haoxuan, who started as a model—needless to say, he’s a top dog on the runway; his commanding presence is his most outstanding advantage.

If these few people were gathered together without Guo Xinya to hold the fort, it’s likely no one could have reined them in.

To use netizens’ words, the character ”Yin Lan” really seems like it was tailor-made by the author, Jiao Dai, for Guo Xinya. ”Yin Lan” naturally belongs to Guo Xinya. Without Guo Xinya, they completely couldn’t imagine who else could portray such a role.

—Of course, that’s just an exaggerated description.

But Yan Shaohan, directly using Jiao Dai’s main account, personally stepped into the comment section and liked every single comment praising Guo Xinya’s casting. In the blink of an eye, the hot search topic ”Guo Xinya, Heaven’s Chosen Yin Lan” was pushed right to the top.Netizens who saw this hot search: ...

[First thought upon seeing this hot search: Well, that’s true. Can’t criticize it, and it’s not an exaggeration.]

[If Jiao Dai, the creator, chose her, how is that not heaven’s chosen?]

[If it were anyone else, I’d definitely have something to say. I’ve seen this kind of marketing countless times. But this one, I genuinely can’t refute.]

[I’m seriously crying. Jiao Dai, you old scoundrel, after all these years, you still love her.]

[Also feeling vicarious satisfaction for this kid Jiao Dai, beautifully campaigning for his goddess.]

Moving offline, with the latest episode of ”Daily Happiness” airing, the ”Corner Also” main creative team gathering together brought everyone plenty of laughs.

Skipping the familiar opening segment, during the water-splashing game grouping, Xiao He and Guo Xinya were in one team, Yan Shaohan and Yuan Sitong in another.

Guo Xinya and Yuan Sitong were responsible for playing the game, while Xiao He and Yan Shaohan were responsible for holding the shields and water cups.

The game was very simple: during the game, the winner grabs a water cup to splash the opponent, while the loser uses a shield to block.

This essentially tests reaction speed.

However, when they actually started playing, it became a laugh riot.

Yan Shaohan couldn’t bear to splash water at Guo Xinya, hesitating for a moment. Xiao He, on the other hand, reacted swiftly, already grabbing a shield to block for Guo Xinya. But who would have thought that this brat Yan Shaohan, his hand trembling, still couldn’t bring himself to do it and ended up splashing the water right onto Xiao He’s face.

Xiao He, face full of water: ”...”

Yan Shaohan, looking very guilty: ”Uh, about that...”

Yuan Sitong: ”Pfft—hahahaha!”

Even Guo Xinya joined in the laughter.

Xiao He narrowed his eyes, giving Yan Shaohan a long, meaningful look. ”Just you wait.”

Yan Shaohan shivered. ”You... wouldn’t do that to me, right?”

Xiao He: ”Hehe.”

The subsequent game turned into a mutual water-splashing session between Xiao He and Yan Shaohan, devoid of any competitive spirit, filled with nothing but personal grudges.

In the end, they even directly swapped game roles with the female side, with Yan Shaohan and Xiao He playing the game, and Guo Xinya and Yuan Sitong holding the shields and water cups to attack and defend.

But if we’re talking personal grudges, how could Yuan Sitong be left out?

Being able to use this opportunity to openly get back at Yan Shaohan was something she’d been hoping for.

So the situation that followed was: Xiao He and Yan Shaohan had wins and losses, but Xiao He remarkably never got splashed by Yuan Sitong. Instead, it was Guo Xinya who, every single time, accurately hit Yan Shaohan.

Yan Shaohan: ...

Wiping the water from his face, he flashed a bright, toothy grin at his own goddess, giggling foolishly. ”My goddess’s reactions are just so fast!”

Once this episode aired, everyone laughed even harder, doubling over.

[Hahaha, no camaraderie, all grudges. I’m seriously going to die laughing from this episode.]

Why do I feel like Jiao Dai, that old scoundrel, was absolutely loving getting splashed by his goddess? He looked positively intoxicated.

[I’m dying of laughter. Brother Xiao’s face was just one big question mark: What does this have to do with me?]

[And you can tell Sister Sitong and Jiao Dai also have some sort of grudge match going on. She made no effort to grab the shield at all, just stood there gloating, hahaha.]

[The ”Corner Also” main creative team is just too funny. Every one of them is a clown. I’ve decided to rewatch this episode of ”Daily Happiness” repeatedly.]

[Maybe because they’re all young? It’s genuinely hilarious. Last time, Yuan Sitong even took them to film those low-fat short videos. They’re all abstract masters. Recommend checking out their account, it’s super amusing.]

[Brother Xiao, I originally thought you were an aloof, serious person. I never imagined you...]

[Brother Xiao: ? Who gave you that illusion?]

[Hahaha...]

...

After ”Corner Also” started airing, it was the busy promotional period.

However, there were other matters requiring Xiao He’s attention—

At this moment, Lao Qi was driving, taking them towards a certain hospital in Shanghai. Besides Xiao He in the car, there were Xiao Chen and Liu Rulan.

Xiao Chen sat in the passenger seat, looking out the window, lost in thought about something. Liu Rulan, on the other hand, kept her head down dealing with matters on her phone. Seeming to sense Xiao He’s gaze, she glanced over. ”What’s up?”

”Nothing.”

Xiao He tapped his knee, then couldn’t help but chuckle softly. ”I was just thinking, we have quite a connection with this hospital here.”

They’d lost count of how many times they’d been to this hospital—either sick or injured themselves, or visiting others. It felt like they were going back and forth, almost becoming a designated respawn point for Xiao He.

Liu Rulan also thought of this and snorted lightly. ”There is indeed some connection, though it’s never anything good.”

A hospital, after all. For normal people coming here, it’s rarely good news.

By now, the vehicle had slowly come to a stop. Lao Qi also turned his head to tell them, ”We’re here.”

”Ah, okay.”

Xiao He prepared to get out but was stopped by Liu Rulan, who signaled for Xiao Chen to exit first. ”Take a few staged shots down there.”

”Okay.”

Xiao Chen immediately got out, found a position that didn’t look too fake, and took several photos of Xiao He.

Only after Xiao Chen finished shooting did Xiao He get out of the car.

Adjusting his mask, he couldn’t help but mutter quietly to Liu Rulan, ”It’s just visiting Lu Yuxi. Why does it need so much time for staged photos?”

—What a pain.

Liu Rulan shrugged. Before she could speak, they suddenly heard a voice from a parking spot not far away: ”Ah, yes yes, just this angle, quick, shoot! Lighting guy, move your light a bit to the side, the light’s a bit too obvious—ah, good, good, perfect, just like that!”

Xiao He: ...

So he was actually considered the less exaggerated type?!

How come the neighbor even brought a lighting guy?! Hey!
