Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 896: The original Wei Dong, embodying both right and wrong, black and white.

”This is our original setting.”

Compared to Gao Zhongbo, Gao Yuan was much more efficient at communication. After explaining the situation to Xiao He, he immediately went to find the original script and handed it to Xiao He.

The script predates the official establishment of the ”Blackbird” production team, and the pages look wrinkled and crumpled, as if it had just been dug out from some hidden corner. The title of the script, ”Blackbird,” was even handwritten by someone.

Xiao He gripped the edge of the script, somewhat worried that he might accidentally tear it to shreds.

”Iʼm sorry, Iʼm sorry.”

Seeing Xiao Heʼs actions, Gao Yuan felt a little embarrassed, his face flushing slightly. He explained in a low voice, ”This script has indeed been sitting for a while now. Most production crews are using the latest scripts now, so we donʼt have the old version. I hope Teacher Xiao wonʼt mind. Weʼll print a new copy later.”

”It doesnʼt matter.”

Xiao He didnʼt mind, carefully opened the script, turned to the part about Wei Dong, and began to read attentively.

A few minutes later, his expression turned somewhat strange.

As Gao Yuan said, there are indeed many points to discuss regarding the character Wei Dong in ”The Blackbird,” and the initial character setting is also more complex.

If the undercover protagonist codenamed ”Blackbird” is the soul of the plot of ”Blackbird,” then the character Wei Dong stands on the opposite side from the protagonist that the public considers to be a good guy as soon as he appears.

In other words, in the script of ”The Blackbird,” Wei Dongʼs initial appearance is definitely not upright.

In stark contrast to the protagonist, his stance becomes increasingly enigmatic as the plot progresses, shifting between good and evil. Even with an omniscient perspective, viewers cannot definitively determine whether he is a good or bad person.

At the beginning of the story, he was parachuted into the Major Crimes Unit under the name of an internal investigation team to conduct an investigation. His appearance immediately aroused the dislike of many people, and he ruthlessly interviewed many people. His behavior was very suspicious. He appeared in several suspicious cases in the middle, and later he was even directly confirmed to be an insider.

On the other hand, the protagonist remained unharmed as an undercover agent, and his identity was not discovered by the mole.

Above Wei Dong, a major suspect, there is another deeply hidden mole who has been secretly stirring up trouble during this opportunity. It seems that he is preparing to cut off his own arm to save himself, shift all the blame onto Wei Dong, confirm Wei Dongʼs identity as the mole, and save himself.

Ironically, when the protagonist is reviewing the events, many of the suspicions and clues left behind by the mole in the early days do not match Wei Dong himself. They donʼt seem like something Wei Dong would do. Instead, it makes people suspect that Wei Dong is just a scapegoat thrown out by the real mole, or that Wei Dong himself is a pawn planted early on. As the investigation leads gradually approach the truth, he will jump out, take the blame for everything, and help the biggest mole take the fall.

Therefore, judging from all indications, there must be a lot to explore about Wei Dong, and he is indeed too mysterious. The reversal of his stance in the early and later stages is a major point of interest.

However, since the revised Wei Dong still appears as an absolutely upright police officer in the current storyline, it already shows that Wei Dongʼs stance is actually on the side of justice.

Otherwise, the storyline surrounding Wei Dong will undergo drastic changes, and the later part of the story will also be altered, thus affecting most of the filming that the ”Black Thrush” crew has already completed, as well as the final ending.

In other words, Wei Dong is actually a good person.

His initial displays of suspicion and behavior were all intended to lure out the mole and, through the suspicions of others, to lull the real mole into a false sense of security, thus causing the mole to lower his guard and launch an attack on Wei Dong.

Because among those who want to frame you, not all of them are traitors, but among those who want to frame you, there will definitely be traitors in a hurry.

Whoever is in a hurry to pin a crime on someone has something to hide.

Wei Dong is putting himself into the game. As the leader of the investigation team who was parachuted in, he successfully attracted everyoneʼs suspicious eyes and even gained the trust of the mole. Finally, he made a comeback at the critical moment!

He operates in the open, while the protagonist remains in the shadows, both using a ”black disguise” to conceal their true identities and purposes, lurking in the murky and treacherous undercurrents of the police station, fighting against the unfathomable true monster—

This was Gao Yuanʼs initial idea when designing the character of Wei Dong, and it was indeed foreshadowed in the later and later plots.

If it could be filmed, the storyline would be richer and more in line with the title ”Blackbird”.

The blackbird is a bird of the genus *Thrush* in the family Thurnidae. Because of its melodious and varied calls that can imitate the sounds of many birds, it is also known as the ”mockingbird”. Because of its black plumage, it is easily mistaken for a crow, but in fact the two are very different.

In ancient China, the mockingbird was usually associated with good fortune, which also symbolizes the protagonistʼs disguise, using the black of the blackbird and the black of the crow to move between light and shadow, to see through secrets and discern peopleʼs hearts.

At the same time, this also means that everyoneʼs identity and stance may not be what they appear to be. Undercover agents may have hidden grievances, and police officers on the surface may also have selfish motives. Truth and falsehood, good and evil, are constantly shifting among all the characters, just like a blackbird can imitate a hundred different calls, making it difficult to distinguish between the real and the fake. Until the very last moment, no one can see the true nature behind these characters.

Therefore, throughout the early and later parts of the story, Wei Dong was always suspected of being the mole, and his identity was not officially revealed until the very end of the story.

This characterʼs design is indeed much more interesting than the previously seen absolutely upright and righteous police officer.

The extreme contrast in character settings, the initial suppression followed by a rise, and the final twist make this one of the most brilliant plot twists in the entire script.

Xiao He didnʼt quite understand why they wanted to change Wei Dongʼs character in this version.

A police officer who is simply righteous is indeed hard to fault, but this kind of justice, which is relatively complex in various senses, is more profound.

After reading the script, he had to admit that his appetite had indeed been whetted.

Before coming, he felt that the role was only so-so and he wasnʼt that interested, but it wasnʼt a bad idea to come and fill in for him.

Anyway, his acting skills are pretty good now, and he has personally experienced the Xiang Sheng Hao incident. Xiao He feels that if he is imitating a police officer like Officer Cheng Bei, or the police officers he has met recently, there will be no problem at all.

You could say he observed and learned in advance.

Unexpectedly, he had a special connection with this character and successfully witnessed the ”real” characterʼs storyline.

“I think this character design is actually very good. I would feel sorry if we missed it. But could you tell me why the production team didn’t use this character design before?”

Xiao He immediately raised his question.

Since the character was well-developed, why remove the highlights now?

Complex character designs should be more popular than flat ones.

Even though director Gao Zhongbo is starting to fall behind the times, from the perspective of someone in the film industry, it should be obvious who will have a better market.

Xiao He needed to find out exactly why Director Gao gave up the role.
