Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 637: Goddess and Dog, Cat and Dog Battle

After Xiao He had happily downloaded the video and saved it for himself, he noticed that Yan Shaohan was still sending him continuous chat messages.

【Yan Shaohan: What’s going on? Where are you? Don’t tell me you’re still watching that video on loop? So a million of those video views were all just you watching it yourself.】

【Xiao He: Bingo, I didn’t think you’d figure that out.】

【Xiao He: So, you’re starting a new work? Then I’ll have to tell Sister Sitong to keep pushing you to update.】

【Yan Shaohan: ??? What kind of talk is that? I only told you about the new work! Don’t you dare leak it!】

【Xiao He: So you’re actually just trying to slack off, half-working on a new project while procrastinating, right? If Director Zhuang found out, I bet your update pace would pick up again.】

【Yan Shaohan: ...Don’t say it, don’t.】

【Xiao He: Haha.】

【Xiao He: Speaking of which, aren’t you going to update the grand finale yet? And if you’re going to keep creating new works, are you quitting as a director?】

【Yan Shaohan: I’ll release the finale after the New Year, to avoid clashing with the Spring Festival. As for the director’s job... I’m still thinking about it.】
Xiao He didn’t press any further.

Actually, based on his previous time with Yan Shaohan, he could clearly tell that Yan Shaohan genuinely loved being a director.

But drawing comics had become a part of his life... something he couldn’t let go of either. In fact, it was his way of escaping reality and clearing his mind.

So both were things he couldn’t bear to give up.

Unfortunately, whether it was directing or being a manga creator, both were incredibly time-consuming and energy-draining jobs.

If they were going to keep filming a third season of ”Corner Also,” Yan Shaohan would inevitably have to cut back on the time he spent creating new works.

Tsk, he wondered what Yan Shaohan’s plan was.

Since Yan Shaohan was incredibly talented in both fields and had achieved success in each, Xiao He didn’t try to advise him or help him make a choice. Instead, he just chatted a bit more with him before switching over to Weibo.

【Ling Hui Actor-Xiao He: I’m so happy to have met everyone as Yin Qi. If fate allows, we’ll meet again. Thank you all for your love of the ”Corner Also” series. We’ll keep working hard! [photo.jpg]*9】

Right after him came Yan Shaohan, who had just been chatting so excitedly.

【Jiao Dai: Thank you all for your support and love for ”Corner Also.” As Season Two wraps up, we’ll be partnering with @Mira Figurines @Lu Renwen Chuang @... to launch our newest Q-version mini-figurines and sticker merchandise. Follow the official account @Corner Also Official (Grand Finale Preview Screening In Progress) for a chance to enter the draw...】

Unlike Xiao He’s casual post, Jiao Dai’s was purely a sales pitch. He had tagged a whole bunch of cultural and creative merchandise manufacturers in a flurry and reposted the release dates and lottery draws for the ”Corner Also” figurines. Xiao He’s head was already spinning just from reading all that content.

Honestly, you had to hand it to those guys—they really knew how to work Weibo. Xiao He had been reading for ages and still couldn’t even understand the lottery mechanism Yan Shaohan had posted...

That was pretty sad.

Xiao He quickly went to check the other cast members’ wrap-up posts and breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness they were all like that. Yan Shaohan was the only exception.

Guo Xinya didn’t use Weibo much either, so her post was the shortest of the bunch. But her words were still full of tenderness, making netizens instantly picture Yin Lan’s character.

When she saw fans crying in the comment section, begging to know the rest of the story, she would earnestly comfort them and recommend they go check out the original comic on the corresponding platform.

【Guo Xinya: I really love the brushwork and art style of the original ”Corner Also” comic. Everyone should head over to the comic platform and show Jiao Dai some love.】

The fans, who had only been joking around and playing along, were completely stunned.

Wait, Goddess, we were just messing around!

Besides, the later part of the original story is such a tearjerker. It’s hard not to suspect that the Goddess got hit by that knife and then decided to share it with everyone, silently digging a pit for us to fall into...

But this was their sweet, gentle Goddess Guo! She wouldn’t be that sneaky... right?

So the fans could only reluctantly comment below: ”Goddess, don’t say his name! He’ll come sniffing it out for sure!”

Sure enough, as Xiao He scrolled down, he saw Jiao Dai’s smug emoji and Guo Xinya’s winking yellow-face emoji.

Xiao He: What is this? A divine scene of a goddess and her dog... Whatever, I can’t be bothered.

He scrolled over to the other two main cast members and, unsurprisingly, found a ”war of words” between Yuan Sitong and Li Haoxuan.

【Yuan Sitong: The moment I think about having to work with you again, I feel incredibly sorry for myself. @Li Haoxuan】

【Li Haoxuan: You’re just a girl who’s always late and loves to talk! What good does apologizing to yourself do? You’re so narcissistic! Do you think I want to work with you? No! I don’t! @Yuan Sitong】

【Yuan Sitong: ...Don’t make me laugh.】

【Li Haoxuan: A laughing girl is a demon.】

Xiao He: ...And what is this, a cat-and-dog fight?

Yeah, well, it was good to see that Li Haoxuan’s Chinese was really improving. He could now actually trade insults with Yuan Sitong over the internet. As for the aggressiveness of his attacks... forget it, it wasn’t worth mentioning.

Before, those two couldn’t even understand each other. Xiao He seriously suspected they just guessed if the other was cursing them based on their tone.

Now it was much better. At least it was all in Chinese, and they could finally understand what the other was insulting them about.

And the strangest part were their fans. While the celebrities themselves were going at it, their fans were cheering them on from the sidelines, sometimes even critiquing Li Haoxuan’s grammar and the intensity of his insults. It was downright evil.

Xiao He silently lit a virtual candle for Li Haoxuan.

He hoped that when Season Three started filming, the young man wouldn’t have been chased back to his home country out of anger.

Xiao He sincerely hoped he’d get to see them again.

Because, let’s be honest, the people on the ”Corner Also” set were all pretty interesting. It was a rare thing for a production team to manage to keep the entire original cast together for a third season.

The only pity this time was that the finale of ”Corner Also” Season Two had collided with the Spring Festival, so it was inevitable that its buzz would fade. Also, the main cast hadn’t gotten together again for any joint promotions afterward. Apart from the content airing during Season Two, they hadn’t produced anything new.

But there was no helping it. Holiday traffic was more important. Otherwise, ”Corner Also” wouldn’t have added episodes and released the grand finale early in its final days.

He just wondered when Season Three would come.

Xiao He personally felt that Zhuang Hongyi probably wouldn’t consider it anytime soon. With ”The Phantom Thief Alliance 2” about to hit theaters, the man was likely already too swamped to oversee their investment projects. Plus, for now, the influence of ”Corner Also” was still spreading. Apart from the usual revenue streams like TV advertisers and such, the related merchandise and cultural products were the real long-term moneymakers.

Thinking about those expensive figurines and merchandise, Xiao He clicked his tongue in admiration. He immediately forgot about checking out the rest of the ”Corner Also” comic and continued scrolling through Weibo for a while.

It wasn’t until he saw the promotional posts from the other cast members that he suddenly remembered tomorrow was New Year’s Eve, and he needed to cooperate with the show’s production team on some marketing.

So Xiao He quickly posted another Weibo update.
