Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 633: What the Hell? She Was Fine Until Her Parents Showed Up, Then Suddenly Got Sick?

Shanghai, Linghui Entertainment.

Liu Rulan crossed her arms, coldly staring at the large screen in front of her.

A few minutes later, she turned and asked Xiao Zhou, “Have you gotten in touch with the heads of the fan clubs? Have them post announcements on all platforms to try and control the number of people at the scene. If things get too chaotic, end the event early—safety comes first.”

“Got it, Sister Liu.”

Xiao Zhou hurriedly organized the materials in his hands.

Everyone else around was also rushing about, but Liu Rulan remained standing there, continuing to delegate tasks, arranging the public opinion handling for any fallout that might arise from this incident in advance. Only after she had organized everything did she turn and ask the assistant nearby, “Is Attorney Zhang ready over there?”

The paralegal quickly nodded. “Ready, Sister Liu. The flight tickets are booked too. We should be heading out now.”

“Good.”

Liu Rulan glanced at the watch on her wrist, her expression calm. She turned, grabbed her bag, and strode briskly out of the company.

...
At that moment, Xiao He had no idea that Liu Rulan was already preparing to charge over directly.

The case had been handed over to the criminal investigation unit, and he had been at the police station for quite a while, personally overseeing the progress of the matter.

The main reason was that he hadn’t brought Lao Qi and Xiao Chen with him this time. He’d figured everyone could relax a bit and that nothing should go wrong.

But who would have thought he’d run into something like this?

Just thinking about it made Xiao He furious. It felt like a perfectly good day had been ruined by someone like that.

After driving back to drop off her things, Mother Xiao had also rushed over, bringing a lunchbox for Xiao He along the way. And while Father Xiao hadn’t come along, he had been on the phone looking for connections to take over the case, especially finding a familiar lawyer to come to the station and handle the follow-up.

After some time of investigation, Officer Ma and another officer walked over to update Xiao He on the current situation. “Niu Yuan’s parents just arrived. Her mental state has suddenly become unstable, and she’s asking to see you. Are you willing to meet with her?”

Officer Ma’s face had been dark since the beginning—long and drawn, his brows furrowed tightly. Clearly, he was just as furious about this incident.

Xiao He narrowed his eyes and let out a cold laugh. “She was perfectly fine just a moment ago—no sign of illness at all! How come the moment her parents show up, she suddenly can’t handle it?”

Ridiculous. As if he wouldn’t know whether she was sick or not? Did she really think she could guilt-trip him with that act?

Sorry, but he’d long stopped falling for that!

Almost the moment he finished speaking, a cold, harsh voice from a woman in the distance rang out, “I don’t care if she’s mentally stable or not—Xiao He is absolutely not going to see her again.”

Xiao He was stunned for a moment. He turned his head and saw Liu Rulan—both surprised and not surprised.

Sigh.

Seeing that face here, Xiao He couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. He covered his face and sighed. “I already told you, you didn’t need to come. My dad has connections here, and he knows plenty of lawyers.”

He could have just called one over to handle this—there was no need for her to fly all the way here in such a rush.

Liu Rulan didn’t say much. Instead, she stepped aside, revealing Attorney Zhang beside her. “Attorney Zhang is more experienced with this type of case. Besides, that woman was already preparing to take us to court before this. Now that she’s caused another incident, having Attorney Zhang handle both cases together is the most suitable choice.”

Attorney Zhang from Linghui Entertainment’s legal department flashed a confident smile at Xiao He. “Teacher Xiao, don’t worry. I’ll definitely handle this properly.”

With clear evidence, both witnesses and physical proof, plus the court summons already issued earlier—how could he possibly lose this case?

Xiao He looked at the confident Attorney Zhang, then at Officer Ma, whose expression wasn’t looking too good. For some reason, he had an inexplicable feeling that this matter might not be so simple.

“Alright, go coordinate with them first and find out what’s going on.”

Xiao He was silent for a moment before nodding.

A few minutes later, Attorney Zhang met with the lawyer Niu Yuan’s parents had brought.

As he stared at the mental health certificate the other party suddenly pulled out, he fell silent. Then, with a sense of disbelief, he examined it carefully.

The certificate was complete, issued by an authoritative hospital, with a recent date—no issues whatsoever.

But hadn’t it not been there before?

-

“How is that possible?”

When Xiao He heard the lawyer’s report, he blurted it out instinctively.

Attorney Zhang gave a wry smile. “I suspect they were already preparing this when we were about to sue them. They just didn’t expect it to come in handy this time.”

The moment they met, the other side had whipped out a clear diagnosis of “severe mental disorder,” along with detailed hospitalization records, discharge summaries, and medication logs from a top-tier provincial hospital—basically a perfect set of documentation.

But here was the problem—

Back when Xiao He had been screening people, he had specifically looked into their backgrounds and circumstances. Anyone who posed a high litigation difficulty, he hadn’t planned on making things hard for himself. So he had chosen individuals who could basically bear criminal responsibility on their own, were self-sufficient, and had no mental issues whatsoever—completely normal people.

Even when Attorney Zhang conducted the pre-litigation investigation, he hadn’t found any signs of mental illness.

How, in just a few days, had the other party suddenly produced such a detailed and clear mental health diagnosis?

And from a fairly authoritative hospital at that...

Xiao He’s gaze landed on the hospital’s name.

He narrowed his eyes, turned around, and pulled out his phone for a quick check.

Wow.

Wasn’t the associate dean of this hospital also named Niu?

Alright, alright. You’ve really “Niu-ed” all the way through!

Xiao He was so angry he nearly fell over. He lowered his head and started fiddling with his phone.

Liu Rulan glanced at Xiao He, then turned to Attorney Zhang. “It’s fine. Stick to your plan. No matter what, we’re seeing this through to the end.”

Besides, in the face of such a serious criminal case, even if she pulled out some kind of certificate, she wouldn’t be able to escape justice.

Fortunately, this kind of situation wasn’t uncommon. The experienced Attorney Zhang quickly adjusted his mindset and immediately revised his strategy. “It’s okay. We can apply for a judicial re-evaluation later. For now, the main thing is to cooperate with the criminal investigation team.”

“I can handle this.”

He looked at Xiao He and Liu Rulan.

Liu Rulan had always followed the principle of not doubting those she used and not using those she doubted. She nodded decisively. “Alright, we’ll leave it to you, Attorney Zhang.”

“Mm.”

Attorney Zhang glanced at Xiao He, noticing he was still looking down at his phone. Without another word, he turned and went to coordinate with the police.

Liu Rulan walked back to Xiao He’s side and lowered her voice. “Did your screening slip up?”

Back then, they had all decided on the candidates together. Logically, there shouldn’t have been a problem like this.

Xiao He tugged at the corner of his mouth and replied in the same low tone, “That hospital has issues. I don’t recall this at all. Niu Yuan’s family has quite a bit of pull. This was really a miscalculation.”

Still, even if he had known they had a backup plan, he wouldn’t have let her off.

He had always been someone who rose to a challenge.

Who’s afraid of who?

“Then you—”

“I won’t handle the hospital matter personally. I’ll find someone else to help.”

Xiao He changed the subject. “I won’t let this ruin our New Year’s mood. We’ll leave this to the lawyers and the police.”

Besides, the police here were on his side. To do something like this in such a public setting—everyone was still shaken by the aftermath.

Finally, he looked at Liu Rulan. The seriousness on his face softened slightly. He scratched his head and apologized awkwardly, “Sorry, for putting you through this again.”

Forcing Sister Liu to come deal with his problems even before Spring Festival.

Liu Rulan didn’t mind. She patted Xiao He on the shoulder. “It’s nothing. Besides, Teacher Bai told me to come over for a meal when I had time. Come on, I flew here and I’m starving. You better tell Teacher Bai to heat up the food.”

Xiao He broke out in a sweat. “Alright.”

Wait, how are you and my mom so close that it feels like you’re just walking into your own home?

Xiao He had a feeling that if this kept up, he’d end up with an extra godmother sooner or later.
