Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 556: Begging for Season 2! Hidden Easter Eggs in “Record of Chasing the Wind”

[Hey? @Record of Chasing the Wind Official Production Team, go shoot the second season right now, got it?]

[Box, donʼt become the king of second season delays, OK? Just look at *Thief Catcher 2*, *Yu Ye 2*, *The Phantom Thief Alliance 2*, *Law of the Jungle 2*, *No Bait 2*, and *Record of Chasing the Wind 2*, when are any of them coming out?]

[Wow, I didnʼt even realize it, Xiao He actually owes us this many dramas! @Ling Hui Actor - Xiao He, hurry up and spit them all out for us!]

[*Thief Catcher* and *Law of the Jungle* never said there would be a second part, right? Director Ning of *No Bait* is also planning to retire, and judging by the ending plot of *Record of Chasing the Wind*, there probably wonʼt be a second part either, donʼt get your hopes up too high, hey!]

[Shh, I say there is, so there is. Keep filming for me, and when I say release it, release it immediately, no excuses!]

[Hahaha, Brother Xiao said, if heʼd known earlier, he would have just had all the characters die. Look, if the characters are dead, there definitely wonʼt be a second part, so much easier.]

[!!! Not allowed!! Brother Xiao, donʼt even think about dying to make things easier!]

[I recommend everyone go watch the analysis videos by bloggers on Bilibili. It feels like Song Chenye was ultimately just a pawn, so there should be a second season where he directly storms the Capital and kills the dog emperor, right, right?]

[Person above, hereʼs a pen, go write it yourself right now.]

[*Record of Chasing the Wind* probably doesnʼt have a second part. All the important characters are replaced, leaving only Xiao He. How could they even film that? Hahaha.]
After the grand finale of *Record of Chasing the Wind*, the film and TV bloggers on Bilibili also happily earned a huge wave of heat by praising *Record of Chasing the Wind*. One blogger in particular made several combat power analysis videos and videos about the real-life inspirations for the various factions, heavily eating up the traffic from drama fans. Now, with the final episode aired, this blogger pressed their advantage and created one last analysis video for *Record of Chasing the Wind*.

”Actually, I think the story became quite obvious in its later stages. Thousand Leaves Manor is a metaphor for imperial power. Although the royal familyʼs shadow might not have explicitly appeared by the end, the layout and decoration of Thousand Leaves Manor alone already spoke volumes.”

Then, this blogger pointed out many ”irregularities” in Thousand Leaves Manor to support their idea: ”Originally, I thought these were production team bugs, but itʼs quite clear the production teamʼs designs were very meticulous. These irregularities were all intentional.”

”This is the brilliance of *Record of Chasing the Wind*. While distancing itself from the imperial court and its temples, it still depicted the vastness of imperial power. Even by the end, the protagonist Song Chenye had no choice but to avoid its sharp edge and retire from the jianghu.”

”So from the very beginning, everyoneʼs fate was already sealed, including Song Chenyeʼs. At the time, many people in the bullet comments expressed regret. Song Chenye killed the Martial Arts Alliance Leader and reclaimed the Song Familyʼs glory, so why didnʼt he take over as the Martial Arts Alliance Leader in the end and revive the Song Familyʼs prestige? I think the most fundamental reason lies right here.”

”From the background, we know the jianghuʼs forces had grown very powerful over the years, and many sects and families enjoyed high prestige. Commoners were also willing to praise them as great heroes. But as we all know, for these jianghu people to gather together, mingle, and even create a position like Alliance Leader—to the imperial court, this was simply a thorn in their side, a pain in their flesh. Their limelight was simply too bright. Once the emperor had the capacity, he would definitely seek to control them.”

”So here, everyone else was a pawn, including Song Chenye. And Song Chenye, as the pawn used to level the jianghu martial arts forces, managed to carve out a path to survival for himself, successfully retiring. Otherwise, if he had continued to be as clueless as Alliance Leader Liu and taken the position of Martial Arts Alliance Leader, then the final ending would probably have been a different story.”

”Itʼs just that until the very end, we still donʼt know if imperial power was involved in the fall of the Song Family back then. For example, why did Song Chenyeʼs master so coincidentally pass away suddenly right during the Martial Arts Alliance Leader transition, prompting Song Chenye to descend the mountain for revenge? Moreover, Song Chenyeʼs descriptions of his master were very sparse. Everyone in the entire jianghu knew who Song Chenye was, who Song Chenyeʼs father was, but they didnʼt know who Song Chenyeʼs master was. This point is very contradictory.”

”When Song Chenye descended the mountain, he was already nearly invincible in the jianghu. A master capable of teaching such a disciple, how could he be utterly unknown in the jianghu? And what kind of resources and ability forged Song Chenye into the number one martial arts master?”

”I can only think of one reason: Song Chenyeʼs master came from the Capital, perhaps even from the imperial palace itself.”

”These details are really worth savoring. Also, when Song Chenye first descended the mountain, he could accurately locate his enemies and go to each oneʼs doorstep for revenge. Where did that initial intelligence network come from?”

”So, this story actually isnʼt what everyone imagined—a feel-good revenge story with a happy ending. This ending is a tragedy for everyone involved. Song Chenye might have also sensed the imperial familyʼs subtle suppression and balancing of the major jianghu forces, but he had no way to resist. In the end, he could only follow this path, complete his revenge, and then withdraw from the jianghu forever.”

”Of course, some might say, host, host, if the imperial family intervened in the Song Familyʼs downfall, doesnʼt that mean Song Chenye still has an enemy in the Capital? So, does *Record of Chasing the Wind* have a second season, where we see Song Chenye storm the Capital and take the old emperorʼs dog head?”

”Ahem, based on my understanding of the director, a second season probably isnʼt happening. Moreover, across all the plotlines, there really isnʼt clear evidence that the imperial family meddled in the Song Familyʼs downfall. Even Thousand Leaves Manor merely stood by, allowing Gong Lin to leak information and kill with a borrowed knife. So, Song Chenye himself couldnʼt be sure either.”

”Besides, letʼs be honest. Donʼt look at Song Chenye slaughtering his way through the jianghu; he doesnʼt have the capability to actually go and kill the emperor.”

”And the most important point: the storyteller in the final episode also said that the current young emperor on the throne is diligent and conscientious, truly a good emperor. Calculating from the era name timeline, his succession clearly happened after the Song Familyʼs downfall. So, if we really want to talk about enemies, it could only be the previous emperor who is already dead. The current new emperor merely inherited a game already planned and set up by his predecessor.”

”And Song Chenye is merely a leftover pawn in this game.”

Itʼs just that Song Chenye was outstanding enough, capable enough, that the imperial familyʼs gaze fell upon him once more, giving him this chance for revenge.

Therefore, fundamentally, Song Chenye and the current new emperor have no direct enmity. One could even say the new emperor subtly helped him and, in the end, allowed Song Chenye to retire from the jianghu.

So, the grand finale of *Record of Chasing the Wind* had already, through the storytellerʼs description, laid out the situation regarding this last enemy and the ultimate truth of the scheme.

At this moment, the entire storyʼs logic has formed a closed loop. All the foreshadowing and plot holes that needed filling have been filled. *Record of Chasing the Wind* can be said to have a very complete ending. It neither deliberately left a hook hinting at a second season nor played the enigmatic riddler, making everyone guess.

It simply, completely, finished telling its own story.

By the end, the blogger themselves felt a bit of emotion: ”But I really do have some regrets. I regret that there isnʼt a second season.”

Song Chenye came quietly and left quietly, unaware that in another world, countless drama fans genuinely and sincerely loved him and admired him.

”For this yearʼs popular film and TV drama character roundup, Iʼm directly casting my vote for Song Chenye.”

The blogger finally wrapped up their summary, but then rubbed their forehead with a headache.

”Oh no, feels like the ʼBoxʼ inclusion rate this year is really high. How come when I tally it up, itʼs all Brother Xiao?”

The drama fans laughed heartily.
