Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 543: [Mechanical Modification] — The Highlight Moment

The collaboration between Linghui Entertainment and a technology company outside the entertainment circle happened quietly.

Many people werenʼt even aware of it.

The person in charge of Fusheng Technology, who was originally still somewhat wary of Linghui Entertainmentʼs motives for cooperation, had no further objections after seeing the brand new AI algorithm Xiao He provided for the motor drive model. He approved the use and reference of their product for ”Super Spacetime Confrontation” and specially provided five sets of the latest equipment for the production teamʼs prop modification.

And Xiao He, after receiving the equipment and materials, promptly took them all apart and modified them himself.

— Although studying could no longer change his IQ, spending points could change his ability.

After successfully spending his way to obtaining [Mechanical Modification (Intermediate)], Xiao He was confident he could now walk sideways.

[Details of Mechanical Modification (Intermediate): Intermediate mechanical modification technology logged in the database, suitable for any illegal modification and reassembly activities, more conducive to you using different tools to commit higher-tech crimes.]

Ahem, actually, he didnʼt quite dare to walk sideways either. After all, nowadays, modifying many things without reporting them is pretty much equivalent to self-developing bombs to take revenge on society. In a certain sense, this thing, like his hacking skills, is a bit shady.

Moreover, with hacking skills, he could still claim he learned them from studying computer science, but mechanical modification... uh, he couldnʼt really claim to be entirely self-taught, could he?

Besides, modification is just modification, not creating something out of nothing. He couldnʼt possibly handcraft those special materials and basic components out of thin air by himself, nor did he have access to the channels for obtaining these basic materials. So, Xiao He simply came up with this method: taking a huge detour, finalizing the promotional charity matters with Fusheng Technology well in advance, and conveniently fishing a few ”unreleased” devices from them for legal modification.
This way, things went very smoothly.

The production team thought it was mechanical arm prop support provided by the tech company, while the tech company thought the production team had found someone to do the modifications themselves.

The two groups, originally separated by industry barriers, successfully connected on the wrong brainwave and were both very satisfied with the current situation.

Only Xiao He, who had pulled several all-nighters in a row to modify the mechanical arm prop to his satisfaction, revealed a world-weary smile.

……

”Holy shit, holy shit, how can it be this cool?”

When Pu Rong came to work that morning and saw Xiao He adjusting the mechanical arm on his right side, he exclaimed directly.

He didnʼt know how Xiao He managed it. His right arm was directly replaced by a mechanical arm, the whole thing shimmering with a dark metallic luster. Between the skeletal gaps, there was even a faint blue glow flowing, as if the mechanical arm really had cybernetic blood slowly circulating.

And as Xiao He lowered his head to observe, the arm quite intelligently cooperated with his movements, its mechanical fingers flexing nimbly, as if Xiao He himself was controlling it.

Pu Rong was stunned, thinking it was a real hand. He directly reached out and shook it, only to find the feel in his hand was the same as when he shook Teacher Song Zheʼs prosthetic back then—cold, icy, filled with the chill of machinery, lacking the real body temperature of a human.

Only then was he convinced it was a prop.

”Has technology already advanced to this level now?”

Pu Rong marveled.

”Thereʼs even more impressive stuff.”

Xiao He tried hard to suppress the corner of his mouth, motioning for Pu Rong to step aside. Then, with his left hand, he tapped on the computer, sending a new command to the arm—

The next moment, the mechanical arm directly disassembled, unfolding dramatically to reveal the cold blue data cables and black internal structure inside. The wrist even folded backwards, all fingers closing together. Then, with a crisp *click*, reassembly was complete, and a pitch-black gun barrel was aimed at Pu Rong.

Pu Rong stared dumbfounded at the dark gun barrel in front of him, his jaw almost hitting the floor.

What, what the heck? Click-clack, and then this and that, and it ends up like this now?

Oh my god, is this still the urban channel Iʼm in? Are you sure you shouldnʼt switch me to the sci-fi channel?

Pu Rong felt the awe of a country bumpkin seeing the cyber world. He glanced at the mechanical arm, then at Xiao He, rubbing his eyes to make sure he wasnʼt hallucinating.

Meanwhile, Xiao He had already removed the mechanical arm and was moving his shoulder around again.

He casually placed the mechanical arm on the support stand.

”Brother Xiao, how did you do this?”

Pu Rong rushed to the support stand, carefully observing the arm in front of him, his eyes full of longing: ”This thing is seriously cool! Compared to this, the props the prop department prepared before are just plastic shells!”

Xiao He raised the corner of his mouth, standing in front of the support stand, manually resetting the mechanical arm after its ”transformation.”

No choice. Materials were limited, time was limited, and the requirements were too complex. At the moment, it was very difficult for Xiao He to make the mechanical arm maintain its ”slender” form while also transforming into various ”weapons” at will. So, part of the transformation was temporarily a one-time pop-out; once transformed, it could only be manually reset.

”This was sent over by Fusheng Technology.”

Watching Xiao He fiddle with the mechanical arm like it was a model, Pu Rong blinked and had a sudden realization: ”So, Brother Xiao, when you asked me before about the company that made Brother Songʼs prosthetic, you actually wanted to borrow their equipment? Thatʼs so like you, Brother Xiao! Your brain works so fast! We would never have thought of that.”

Borrowing a tech companyʼs technology to meet filming requirements was indeed something many sci-fi film crews would do. But whether they could get the tech companyʼs support was another matter. After all, technology isnʼt something you can just ask someone to hand over and they will.

Fortunately, Xiao He had some bargaining chips in hand.

”But for Fusheng Technology to be willing to help us to this extent is really amazing. Truly a top company in the industry. This is the first time Iʼve seen a mechanical arm that can transform! I thought those were all made with CG special effects, all fake.”

Xiao He, however, shook his head: ”This isnʼt particularly advanced technology.”

As long as you know the principle, making a mechanical arm that can perform simple transformations isnʼt particularly difficult. Both domestic and international DIY bloggers have similar creation demonstrations. There are even masters who directly craft transformable mechanical arms out of wooden boards. The props Xiao He used this time were just a bit more high-end; it didnʼt reach the level of a specialized invention.

After all, if he could really achieve the effects seen in sci-fi movies, what more is there to say? He could be directly recruited to mass-produce transforming thermal weapons to shine on the battlefield.

Pu Rong still wore a look of confusion.

”Sports students donʼt understand you science and engineering students.”

Pu Rong directly dismissed Xiao Heʼs words as a Versailles-style humblebrag. In the end, his eyes glazed over, his steps light and floating, as he walked out of the prop room.

A few minutes later, he brought others over.

Thus, Xiao He successfully harvested a new batch of praises like ”Wow,” ”Holy shit,” and ”Awesome.”

Xiao He pretended to be detached and calm, but in reality, the corners of his mouth almost reached his ears.

While the rest of the ”Super Spacetime Confrontation” production team heard the news and came to see the mechanical arm, He Wenming pulled Xiao He aside.

”Have you seen the recent news?”

His opening question directly baffled Xiao He: ”Huh? Which one?”

Recently, Xiao He had been completely immersed in the mechanical arm modification and hadnʼt really browsed the internet much.

”Rongding Media has blown up.”

He Wenmingʼs simple sentence instantly sharpened Xiao Heʼs gaze: ”When did this happen?”
