Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 523: Are the Cases Connected?

After a brief handover with Police Officer Zheng and the others, the group moved to another consultation room to await the results of Li Hanyueʼs examination.

Soon, Li Hanyueʼs injury report was also out. She wasnʼt as tough as Xiao He, with multiple abrasions on her body and signs of minor bone fractures in her arm and shoulder. However, such injuries were already considered another miracle.

It was just that the doctor said her mental state was poor, her body was still running a slight fever, and she might need to be admitted to the hospital for observation.

”I looked at the previous medical records. It seems this patient has a very severe tendency towards depression. Do you have any records of the medication sheʼs been taking recently?”

The doctor inquired.

Xiao He shook his head.

”What about her family?”

”That, weʼre not too clear about either.”

Xiao He shook his head again.

At this moment, he felt a pang of regret in his heart.
Back then, even after encountering the incident with Zhu Third Brother, Li Hanyue hadnʼt fallen ill. Instead, she had walked out of the shadows. Yet, in the blink of an eye, two years had passed, and she had become a patient with severe depression.

What exactly had happened during this period?

At this time, the person in charge of the venue also arrived.

The person in charge was named Wang Changwei. He was the president of the Qin City Film and Television Association and also an important member of the China Film Association. This Bai Ming Award ceremony was primarily arranged and overseen by him and his team.

Logically speaking, these tasks from previous editions could basically be completed smoothly without major errors, simply by following the planning schemes left by predecessors. Even if there were issues with certain awards, netizens generally only targeted the judging panel, having little to do with people like him. Therefore, Wang Changwei had never imagined that such a major incident would occur during his tenure.

Once a major accident happened on-site, especially one involving a human life, he would be held absolutely accountable!

Fortunately, Xiao He had stepped in to save the situation in time.

So when he saw Xiao He, his face was filled with unprecedented gratitude.

Xiao Heʼs rescue had truly preserved his entire job position!

Wang Changwei grasped Xiao Heʼs hand, his tone sincere and earnest as he asked, ”Teacher Xiao, are you alright?”

Xiao He absolutely must be fine!

Otherwise, he would really have a splitting headache today.

Xiao He shook his head. ”Iʼm fine, President Wang, donʼt worry.”

When Xiao He had gone to Beijing before, he and Liu Rulan had visited this President Wang. Although they werenʼt particularly close, they could still converse more than a few words. Now, with this incident as a foundation, the relationship between their two sides had grown even better.

This incident also counted as making this important figure owe him a favor, which was quite valuable.

Wang Changwei looked Xiao He up and down, confirming that Xiao He really had no issues at all. His previously hanging heart finally settled down a bit.

Immediately after, he looked at the doctor beside him. ”Excuse me, how is that young lady over there doing now?”

The doctor briefly explained the situation. In summary, there were no major problems, but she needed to be hospitalized for observation.

Good. This news was undoubtedly a stroke of luck amidst misfortune for Wang Changwei.

He sighed deeply, facing Police Officer Zheng and Officer Little Jin with a worried expression as he complained, ”Please, comrades, investigate this matter thoroughly. Our Bai Ming Award has been held in the domestic entertainment industry for so many years, and this is the first time weʼve encountered such a situation. The pressure from online public opinion is immense now. Please, comrades, help us out. Afterwards, weʼll be able to clarify things properly!”

Today, most of the entertainment industryʼs lenses were focused here. Once any slightest disturbance occurred, it would become a topic discussed within the industry circle for a long time.

Now, related news had already spread far and wide. Even if they started pulling down topics now, it would be far too slow compared to the speed at which others on-site were spreading the word.

He had heard countless versions had already emerged. Some said their awards had shady dealings, that they had done something wrong, forcing someone to prove their innocence with death. Others said some high-level executive had engaged in underhanded dealings, done something bad, and was now being confronted... It wasnʼt just about them, the organizers, but also about others present, and even about Xiao He—

Wang Changwei now hoped this matter could be taken over by the police, transferring some of their pressure, and uncovering the reason sooner.

Otherwise, this edition of the Bai Ming Award would truly be ruined in his hands!

Just thinking about the various investigations he would face later, Wang Changweiʼs face was filled with a bitter smile.

”Can we go in to see her now?”

”You may.”

The doctor opened the door, gesturing for them to follow him inside.

The consultation room wasnʼt very large. Behind a curtain was a small bed.

At this moment, the female lead from Hou Rongxuanʼs production team was sitting by the bed with Li Hanyue.

Li Hanyue had already put down Xiao Heʼs jacket. Her gaze was fixed straight on the ground, lost in thought, not uttering a single word.

When she heard the voices of others, she was momentarily stirred. Her head swayed slightly as if she wanted to lift it and say something, but in the end, she just buried her head even deeper.

Seeing the source of all these events, Wang Changwei felt complex emotions. It was hard for him to force a gentle smile, so he could only try to soften his expression slightly and ask softly, ”Miss Li, how are you feeling now? What exactly happened at the scene? If you have any thoughts in your heart, please do tell us and the police. We will definitely help resolve it...”

Wang Changwei rambled on. Police Officer Zheng quietly observed Li Hanyue from the side, not speaking immediately.

Xiao He glanced at Police Officer Zheng. Connecting it with recent events, he had an inexplicable premonition in his heart—

Police Officer Zheng taking over this case was absolutely not simple!

Last time, Police Officer Zheng and his team had been connected to that male internet celebrity who had undergone plastic surgery, and they had started investigating illegal live streaming software along that line. And now they appeared here again...

Xiao He suddenly remembered what Liu Zehang had told him before.

Li Hanyue had plastic surgery?

He crouched down, meeting the young womanʼs eyes at her level, and tried his best to soften his tone as he said, ”Sister Hanyue, weʼre all here to help you. Are you really not going to tell us anything?”

It was also at this moment that Xiao He finally saw clearly what was going on with Li Hanyueʼs face.

The delicate and pretty face from his past memories had now completely changed. Not only was her chin exceptionally pointed and her nose exceptionally narrow, but her double eyelids were also wide and swollen. Although it wasnʼt exaggerated to the point of being unrecognizable, compared to her former face, it was indeed a world of difference.

Moreover, such an obviously surgically altered face was almost certainly doomed on the large screen.

For Li Hanyue, this was undoubtedly a huge blow.

Xiao He showed no reaction on his face, but inwardly, he gasped in shock.

What was going on with this plastic surgery clinic?

How could they alter someoneʼs face to look like this?

It was simply too much of a failure—

A flash of insight suddenly crossed Xiao Heʼs mind, and this time he caught it accurately.

And also... how could it be such a coincidence that the plastic surgery failed?

Did Police Officer Zhengʼs appearance mean there was a connection between the two cases?

It couldnʼt be... that both were related to Rongding Media, could it?
