Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 534: Arch-Enemy Taken Down

After discussing the cooperation matters with Director Yang Li, all the work Xiao He and his team had come to Qin City for was now completely finished.

Although there was still some symposium the day after the Bai Ming Award ceremony, that kind of thing usually didnʼt require their attendance anymore.

That afternoon, Xiao He and Liu Rulan took a car back to Beijing.

At this moment, the online buzz about the Bai Ming Awards hadnʼt yet subsided, but the topics about Xiao He were gradually extending and touching upon another matter.

[”Public Enemy Number One” seems to have been taken offline.]

Someone voiced their confusion on social platforms.

[Huh? Oh wow, when did that happen? I just checked, and it really is gone.]

[What? My go-to show to watch while eating is gone? Why? Did it violate regulations or something?]

[Looking at the official notice, it seems to be a temporary takedown for rectification. I think the production team got wind that some people on the show are about to have their reputations collapse, so theyʼre making adjustments in advance.]

[What? Damn, whoʼs about to have their reputation collapse? Anyone with good connections have any info?]
[Not sure, but itʼs an internet celebrity variety show, full of internet celebrities. Given the current situation, internet celebrities having their reputations collapse isnʼt exactly rare. Theyʼll probably re-release it soon after they fix it.]

[It shouldnʼt warrant a complete takedown, right? If itʼs really someoneʼs reputation collapsing, unless they actually got arrested, the production team usually wouldnʼt be so absolute. Theyʼd just temporarily edit or replace certain scenes. Usually, theyʼd quietly swap things out without making a fuss, not take the whole thing down. If it was directly removed, itʼs probably because the changes needed are massive, or it was outright scrapped. Thatʼs a pretty big impact on their entire project.]

[Could it be related to what happened at the Bai Ming Awards last night?]

[Speaking of which, what exactly happened last night? Videos of Brother Xiao saving someone have already been deleted online. The organizers are suppressing it really hard.]

[I think someone was trying to jump off a building.]

[No, the police released a statement early this morning. It was murder. Theyʼve already launched an investigation.]

[Damn, when you connect all these things, itʼs really terrifying to think about deeply.]

[The Bai Ming Awards had an incident, and the very next day ”Public Enemy Number One” is taken offline for rectification. This whole thing looks weird however you look at it. But if thereʼs any connection, itʼs probably that Xiao He was present at the former and knows the inside story, and the latter is invested in by Xiao He as the boss—if you look at it that way, I think itʼs highly likely that someone from ”Public Enemy Number One” is connected to what happened at the Bai Ming Awards last night.]

[Wow, that analysis is awesome! Upstairs user is a real detective!]

It has to be said, the imagination of netizens is still very rich, and also extremely sharp. Almost as soon as ”Public Enemy Number One” was taken offline, someone connected it to yesterdayʼs events.

However, none of the involved parties in the discussion have come forward to speak up. No matter how netizens discuss or speculate, thereʼs just no solid proof or factual basis.

But that makes it seem even stranger.

In another topic, a group of people were discussing something completely unrelated to ”Public Enemy Number One”.

[Oh my god, what happened at the apartment building next door? The police took down the whole place last night, arresting a bunch of people. What were they doing?]

[Yes, yes! Is it the XX residential area in XX city? My home is in the next building. I saw with my own eyes last night the police officers leading a group of people out. I heard everyone on two or three floors of that apartment building got arrested.]

[Oh my god, this is the first time Iʼve heard of such a large-scale arrest. Are there any on-site videos to see?]

[Was it a group spreading that stuff? Or were they doing telecom fraud? Feels terrifying.]

[Saw the original video. Letʼs just say the men and women inside were dressed very... business-like. Those who understand, understand.]

[??? What does that mean?]

[Heard it was an orgy party that got busted. Donʼt know if itʼs true.]

[Anyone who wants to see the original video, DM me. All kinds of sexy black stockings...]

[Seriously? People selling pirated videos are coming here now? I heard the next cyber cleanup is coming. Be careful they nab you too.]

[Waiting for follow-up news—]

When Xiao He arrived in Beijing, it was already evening, the time when netizensʼ enthusiasm for discussion was at its peak. And it wasnʼt just the comment sections discussing it; his friend group was also talking about the matter.

First, He Junhao was howling like ghosts and wolves in the group.

[He Junhao: Aaaaaah, my variety show! The variety show I worked so hard on for months! Why was it taken down? The highlight moment of my life, my perfect chance to be on the big screen, aaaaaah—]

[Dai Bo: Stop howling. Itʼs not like youʼre the one suffering. Xiao Heʼs investment went down the drain. At most, you just lost a chance to show your face.]

[Zhai Zhipeng: Eating melon seeds on the company dime. Feels like the internet is really lively lately. Our team has been deleting comments while munching on melon seeds.]

[Zhai Zhipeng: @Xiao He, what about you, the person on the front lines? Not coming out to give us the situation? We want to eat first-hand melon seeds, please give us the scoop!]

[He Junhao: @Xiao He, Bro, give us some exclusive info! Iʼm really having a mental breakdown here. Your takedown efficiency is way too high! Iʼm completely dumbfounded. If Iʼd known, I would have cached it. When are you guys going to fix it and put it back online? Is there a definite timeline?]

[Xiao He: Thanks, we still made money. But itʼs an emergency risk avoidance measure now, to avoid being blatantly reckless and getting banned. Donʼt worry. Once the heat dies down, weʼll put it back online as usual.]

[Zhai Zhipeng: I smell melon seeds! [Ears perked up]]

[He Junhao: So which idiot had their reputation collapse? Iʼm definitely going to use a side account to curse them out.]

[Xiao He: Oh, itʼs not just one person.]

[Zhai Zhipeng: ??]

[He Junhao: Indeed, theyʼre not a decent person!]

[Dai Bo: Is that what Xiao He meant?]

[Zhai Zhipeng: So what exactly happened? No cryptic talk allowed!]

[Xiao He: [Smile]]

Successfully playing the cryptic talker in the group for a bit, Xiao He put down his phone in a very cheerful mood, letting the makeup artist apply his makeup.

Yes, tonight Xiao He had a promotional event in Beijing to film. He had just returned from Qin City and was immediately diving back into the promotional tasks for ”Record of Chasing the Wind.”

The main production companies for ”Record of Chasing the Wind” were Xiao Heʼs Linghui Entertainment, Yuan Sitongʼs Yunheng Entertainment behind her, and Banana Video. The formerʼs main base has always been in Shanghai, while the latter two have their main bases in Beijing and Hangzhou respectively. As the main promotional platform going forward, Banana Video also leans more towards Yuan Sitongʼs company. So Xiao He, as the later investor, naturally had to cooperate with Yuan Sitong and her team, arranging the main promotional base in Beijing.

Of course, this was only the early promotional work. Later, they might still move to Hangzhou to participate in a series of Banana Video events.

For actors, flying all over during the promotional period is the norm. Xiao He was used to it by now.

Just as he finished his makeup, Yuan Sitong ran over to his dressing room.

Xiao He almost didnʼt need to turn around. With a sidelong glance in the mirror, he could roughly guess why this lady had come.

He chose to close his eyes.

”Hey hey, I saw you looking at me.”

Yuan Sitongʼs makeup was exquisitely ladylike, but her eyes and brows betrayed a bit of eager anticipation for munching on melon seeds. ”Tell me, who exactly was the one who fell last night? Are you really okay?”

Xiao He: ”Sis, arenʼt you busy?”

”Definitely not as busy as you are right now.”

”Oh, Iʼm busy right now. Letʼs talk later.”

”Then turn around and talk now!”
