Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 492: Rongding Media — Who Makes More Money?

”Thatʼs not right.”

Xiao He denied his own words again.

Xiao Chen breathed a sigh of relief.

Then he heard Xiao He say again: ”We should investigate everyone from this Rongding Media company who was sent to ʼPublic Enemy Number Oneʼ, see what their final competition progress was like, and then reduce their screen time as much as possible for those we can.”

”Huh?”

Xiao Chen was dumbfounded.

He swallowed his saliva in a way that didnʼt help himself, then cautiously reminded Xiao He: ”Brother Xiao, Rongding Media is a major company. Quite a few of their contestants made it to the finals. Youʼre not planning to cut all their screen time, are you?”

That would be really, really difficult!

”I donʼt want to either...” Xiao He sighed helplessly. ”You investigate it first.”

”Oh, right—”
As if remembering something, Xiao He asked again: ”The one who broke the balance first and got celebrity artists to assist, was that also someone from Rongding Media?”

”I donʼt know. Brother Xiao, wait a moment, Iʼll ask.”

Xiao Chen, who followed Xiao He around every day, didnʼt know about these things either, so he could only ask other team members. Meanwhile, Lao Qi, who was driving, seemed to have already seen through everything: ”Was the business card Teacher Xiao received given by that Guoguo?”

Meaning that live-streaming sales blogger.

”Yes, it was him.”

Xiao He flipped through his phone, went to Guoguoʼs account, observed it carefully, and finally confirmed the other party was indeed male.

Good, good. He almost thought heʼd mistaken their gender.

Xiao Chen, however, realized belatedly: ”Huh? So Brother Xiao was given a business card? But I originally thought it was given by that RabbitRabbit Doesnʼt Eat Grass.”

Xiao He snorted a laugh, then fished out a room key card from the pocket on the other side of his clothes.

Xiao Chen turned his head to look and let out a ”Holy shit!”

Even Lao Qi couldnʼt help but glance over during a red light.

So, during that simple photo session just now, two people had already thrown ”olive branches” at Xiao He.

They really werenʼt afraid of being spotted by other fans on the scene! This is just too outrageous!

”My god.”

Xiao Chen exclaimed, ”Brother Xiao, are you this in demand now?”

Xiao He rolled his eyes: ”That doesnʼt sound like a compliment.”

Xiao Chen gave an embarrassed laugh. Only Lao Qi had insight into the most crucial point: ”So why is Teacher Xiao more concerned about that Guoguo instead of that RabbitRabbit?”

Clearly, RabbitRabbit Doesnʼt Eat Grass went further by directly giving Xiao He a room key card, while Guoguo only gave an ambiguous contact method. Comparing the two, the former seems more attention-grabbing.

”Oh, right...”

Xiao Chen also realized this belatedly, then turned his head in horror, asking cautiously with a face full of trepidation: ”Brother Xiao, you wouldnʼt...?”

Xiao He was so annoyed he laughed. His fingers flew, and the room key card he was holding instantly spun into the air, tracing an elegant arc inside the car before landing in Xiao Chenʼs hand.

”What kind of nonsense are you thinking? Am I that kind of person, your Brother Xiao?”

Xiao Chen was utterly dazzled by Xiao Heʼs card-throwing skill. Clutching the card in his hand, he scratched his head: ”Then why does Brother Xiao want to go after Rongding Media people?”

Guoguoʼs parent company is Rongding Media, while RabbitRabbitʼs parent company is Shuangyu Media. If Brother Xiao was unhappy with their actions, he should target Shuangyu Media instead.

”Perhaps because...”

Xiao He deliberately drew out his words, creating suspense. Sure enough, Xiao Chen took the bait immediately and asked curiously: ”Because of what?”

”Because of the nose.”

Xiao He chuckled lightly, still answering the question.

”Huh? What? Nose?” Xiao Chen corrected Xiao Heʼs words in astonishment. ”Thatʼs not right, Brother Xiao. You meant to say intuition, right?”

”Mmm—” Xiao He thought for a moment, then shrugged indifferently. ”More or less.”

The two people in front: ...

Thatʼs a huge difference!

But soon, Xiao Chen still reported what he had learned: ”Brother Xiao, that internet celebrity couple stopped outside the top ten. In the latest aired episode, they were already eliminated.”

”As for this Guoguo, he made it to the final championship round, but didnʼt win the championship.”

”And about the artist assistance thing you asked earlier, they werenʼt the ones who started it. Based on Guoguoʼs own situation at the time, he was already a sure bet for the finals.”

So Rongding Media didnʼt need to do anything extra at that time.

”However, according to their original plan, they seemed to intend to directly invite you, Brother Xiao, to assist at the final championship match. They even had their people contact Manager Lin during that period.”

Xiao He was abroad during that time, so Lin Cheng handled these matters.

But Lin Cheng wasnʼt stupid. He knew he couldnʼt make decisions for the boss and understood the fairness of this variety show was most important. So although he had contact with their people at a cocktail party, he didnʼt agree to their request and refused it himself. He only mentioned it to Liu Rulan after Xiao He and the team returned to the country.

So naturally, this matter never reached Xiao Heʼs ears.

”So thatʼs how it is. Itʼs not that they didnʼt want to do it, but that they were a step too late.”

Xiao He raised the corner of his mouth with irony.

To vie for the final championship, the last stages of the competition almost directly escalated into a contest between several MCN companies.

And this contest naturally became about money and connections.

Inviting traffic stars to assist was one of their final plans.

Unfortunately, some idiot, who was almost eliminated before the finals, preemptively invited a guest artist who, while having a smaller status, was still considered a celebrity artist, to assist. And they actually succeeded in one fell swoop, smoothly breaking through and entering the finals.

But wasnʼt this equivalent to revealing everyone elseʼs trump card as well!

His actions naturally drew the program teamʼs attention.

Since it was already live and the person had been invited, the program team didnʼt say anything at the time, but later notified the higher-ups to make a decision.

So the final result was that this perfect finals plan was stillborn. The program team quickly modified the rules and plugged the loophole.

Because of this, Guoguo and his backing Rongding Media, who were originally full of confidence, ultimately failed to secure guest assistance and also missed out on the championship title.

While itʼs unknown what others thought, Guoguo and his team must have been very disheartened. After all, they invested both people and resources. What they ultimately wanted was the championshipʼs recommendation and platform support, wasnʼt it?

As a top-tier live-streaming sales blogger, Guoguoʼs own traffic that could be squeezed dry had already peaked. He couldnʼt gain significantly more new traffic in the short term. But if he could get further platform promotion and support, then he might be able to climb a bit higher and directly become the top figure in the platformʼs live-streaming sales circle.

Donʼt underestimate these live-streaming sales hosts. The money they earn is far more than most people imagine. Some top earners can make money more exaggeratedly than ordinary celebrities.

Furthermore, because celebrities now have significant influence and many negative incidents have occurred, the industry circle has been repeatedly rectified, with many new relevant policies issued for restraint. Meanwhile, the internet celebrity side, due to relatively smaller influence and many being dependent on platforms, hasnʼt seen widespread cleanup and rectification of many undesirable situations yet.

In the end, who earns more than whom really isnʼt certain.
