Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 482: Sister Liu Returns to Shanghai, Farewell He Jinnian

Online, netizens were having a blast playing with memes and jokes.

In reality, Xiao He was discussing his alma materʼs graduation ceremony with Liu Rulan.

Liu Rulan had been on a business trip for over a month now and was still in Beijing. However, she had been personally handling many of the work invitations for Xiao He all along, without any slack.

So when Xiao He asked Liu Rulan about the schoolʼs Hall of Fame, she quickly responded: ”Yes, there was indeed such a matter. They sent over a form for you to fill out back then, so they could include it in the Hall of Fame introduction...”

Naturally, this task didnʼt require Xiao He to handle it personally. After Linghui Entertainment liaised with the school, they filled out the form and sent it back. After that, Hu University never followed up again.

This matter was actually handled early in the year. At that time, there was a lot of work and many things going on. Coupled with the lack of feedback from the school, they simply didnʼt pay it any more mind. As a result, Xiao He had now been quietly added to it without any fanfare.

But honestly, thereʼs not much to say about this.

After all, itʼs just a Hall of Fame. Being listed there is just an honorary title; it doesnʼt have much practical use.

Apart from these titles, the companyʼs team was also responsible for helping Xiao He ”participate” in many other award selections, both large and small, whether public welfare or commercial in nature. These selections also basically just amounted to gaining a title and honor, without any particularly substantial practical effect. At most, they were used to add luster to a celebrityʼs resume.

This is considered the most routine responsibility of the company or studio behind a star. Matters like these are basically something they fill out and submit every year, making their artistʼs year-end summary report very rich. In many cases, the impressiveness of this year-end report could even be directly linked to the team employeesʼ year-end bonuses.
Since *Law of the Jungle* gained some fame abroad, Xiao Heʼs team now not only had to focus on domestic awards but also on some award selections overseas.

So in comparison, a schoolʼs Hall of Fame wasnʼt worth investing too much attention in.

”What? Do you want to go back this graduation season?”

Liu Rulan flipped through some documents and then said: ”It is possible. The school sent an invitation letter. If youʼre interested, you can go back and take a look.”

Xiao He thought about it but ultimately rejected the suggestion: ”Forget it. I donʼt seem to have any achievements worth talking about right now. If I just went back, it would be pretty awkward, and I wouldnʼt be able to set a good example for the junior students.”

So, better wait until Iʼm an Award-Winning Actor.

Xiao He set a mental flag for himself.

Liu Rulan, however, seemed to be on the same wavelength. She chuckled on the other end of the phone and said: ”Donʼt worry, whatʼs meant to come will come eventually. It wonʼt be missed again.”

Xiao He raised an eyebrow slightly: ”Sister Liu?”

Thinking about how Liu Rulan had been on a business trip in Beijing recently, so busy her feet hardly touched the ground, Xiao He vaguely had some guesses: ”Actually, Iʼm not in that much of a hurry.”

”This isnʼt about whether youʼre in a hurry or not,” Liu Rulan said helplessly. ”Alright, letʼs not talk about this. Iʼll be back in a few days. You should also prepare yourself. Director He is coming back with us.”

”Okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Xiao He let out a long sigh.

A few days later, Xiao He posted a Weibo celebrating his alma materʼs graduation season, sparking another small wave of discussion.

On the same day, Liu Rulan landed at Shanghai airport with the production team.

Xiao He and Shu Han went to the airport to pick them up.

However, when they saw He Jinnian this time, both Xiao He and Shu Han got a huge shock.

He Jinnian had been famous in the industry circle for a long time, having won various Award-Winning Actor honors. He was the type who had advantages in both looks and acting skills, so his appearance needed no further explanation. Even in middle age, he was still a handsome man.

But since He Jinnian publicly withdrew from the circle last year, he had never appeared again before the lenses of public media outlets. Xiao He also hadnʼt seen him for almost a year.

So, it was completely unexpected that when they saw He Jinnian again, his unkempt appearance deeply shocked Xiao He.

Perhaps due to the busy directorial work after withdrawing from the circle, He Jinnian had become much thinner. The cheekbones on his face were very prominent, and his face was covered in a scruffy beard that had even grown past his chin and jawline. Even his hair had grown very long, looking somewhat messy, and could only be simply tied back with a hair tie.

Even more eye-catching were the strands of silver hair mixed in with He Jinnianʼs long hair from time to time, making him appear not only very haggard but also somewhat aged.

Itʼs no exaggeration to say that the current He Jinnian was as thin as a consumptive ghost, looking like he could ascend to heaven just by walking a few more steps.

Xiao He even wanted to help support him.

Is this the power of being a director?

Too terrifying, itʼs truly too terrifying—

Actually, it wasnʼt just Xiao He who was shocked. Shu Han beside him was also very shocked, looking at He Jinnian with an expression that seemed to want to say something, perhaps to advise He Jinnian not to put so much pressure on himself. But on second thought, since He Jinnian was the director, him, as an actor, saying such things would sound rather glib. So, Shu Han still chose to keep his mouth shut.

On the other hand, He Wenming, He Jinnianʼs former agent, seeing the person before him in such a state, didnʼt hesitate to start berating him: ”You only temporarily withdrew from the acting business, you didnʼt withdraw from the human race! Do you really not take your own health seriously? Is this how you carry on the moment I leave? Huh?”

Agents naturally have a suppressing effect on artists, and even He Jinnian was no exception.

Faced with the roasting from his former agent, he awkwardly lowered his head: ”Iʼve been busy with production team matters recently, I really didnʼt have time to deal with these life matters.”

”Your assistant? I remember I left you a life assistant.”

He Wenmingʼs brow was still tightly furrowed.

”Uh—”

He Jinnian pretended not to hear and instead started urging Lao Qi in front to drive faster.

Liu Rulan, standing to the side with her arms crossed, exposed He Jinnianʼs true situation: ”That life assistant of his, because he followed him around being busy all day, working non-stop, directly fell ill and was hospitalized. Heʼs still lying in bed now.”

”If I hadnʼt gone on this business trip to Beijing, Iʼm afraid this guy could have kept on pushing himself.”

Liu Rulanʼs words made He Wenmingʼs blood pressure soar. Xiao He scratched his head, feeling like he had seen this scene somewhere before.

Subsequently, during He Wenmingʼs half-hour-long lecture directed at He Jinnian, Xiao He suddenly remembered.

Actually, he was somewhat similar during the Spring Festival period, so busy that the company had to dispatch two young assistants and Xiao Chen to take shifts and hand over duties. Otherwise, given the busyness of that period, he probably could have worn down a young assistant too...

But—ahem, he dared to do that because he had cheats, he wasnʼt afraid!

He Jinnian actually dared to challenge such physiological limits with a mortal body; that really was quite reckless with his life.

Xiao He felt a surge of deep respect.

Hearing He Wenmingʼs lecturing and criticism of He Jinnian, Xiao He could only gloat and say, serves him right!

No matter how busy work is, health is the most important!

As if sensing Xiao Heʼs mood of watching a good show, Liu Rulan beside him shot a sharp glare his way: ”You should listen more too.”

This was also a guy who ”risked his life” when he got busy. Last time, he was so busy she secretly took oxygen. Who knows where this kid got so much energy from.

Xiao He immediately sat up straight obediently, trying hard to lower his presence.

If you talked about Director He, then you canʼt talk about me anymore, okay—
