Gaowu invasion, I can see the future

49: Whose footprints are they? Activate the scepter! The scepter was quickly brought over. Professor Feng reached out and took it, carefully studying the black wooden scepter. After a slight sensing, he found no abnormalities.

As a Thunder Cultivator in the Ling Yuan Realm, he tried to inject his internal thunder and lightning spiritual energy into the scepter.

He saw the power of thunder continuously pouring into the black scepter, but there was no reaction.

It was like a bottomless pit, constantly absorbing everything.

”This thing is quite interesting!”

”But do you know how much energy this thing needs? My laboratory doesn’t do small business. If the power is too great and it destroys this treasure, I won’t be responsible.”

Professor Wang Wen certainly knew nothing about this and could only look at Bai Yu.

Bai Yu, on the other hand, smiled and said, ”If it can be destroyed, can it still be called a treasure?”

”Oh, what a big tone! Did you learn that from your teacher?”

Bai Yu helplessly spread his hands and said mercilessly, ”I am only a member of the investigation team, not Professor Wang Wen’s student. He kept wanting to take me as his disciple, but I didn’t agree. Now he shamelessly calls me his student. I have never seen such shamelessness—”

Before he could finish speaking, he was glared back by Professor Wang’s gaze. Bai Yu could only scratch his head awkwardly.

I was wrong, but I won’t change.

And as soon as Bai Yu said that, the expressions of the students of the two professors present were spectacular!

Professor Wang actually did this!?

Their own teacher could do such a thing?

Thinking carefully, the conversation in the car seemed off.

Professor Feng was also stunned for a moment, looking at Bai Yu, then at Professor Wang Wen.

Seeing Professor Wang Wen’s awkward expression, he knew Bai Yu hadn’t lied.

There’s a story here!

”Interesting! Haha, even more interesting! My place hasn’t been this fun in a long time.”

Then he changed the topic to serious business: ”However, do you have a rough idea of this treasure? My laboratory was built with an investment of two billion, and the minimum is thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity. It might accidentally destroy it.”

”It probably needs hundreds of thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity.”

”Hundreds of thousands of kilowatt-hours!?”

This time it was Professor Feng’s turn to be shocked: ”Do you have any concept of this amount of energy, kid? Hundreds of thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity is no small number.”

”Yes, that’s how much is needed.”

But Professor Feng, standing in his Domain, certainly didn’t think Bai Yu understood the meaning of hundreds of thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity!

Let’s convert it to an even more exaggerated concept.

500,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity is equivalent to 1.83 million tons of water falling from a height of 100 meters!

How could this small scepter possibly store such a massive amount of electrical energy?

Currently, even after entering the extraordinary world, objects with such energy density are rarely seen.

He didn’t argue with Bai Yu, only saying, ”Then let’s start with the minimum, and test the waters. If it’s destroyed, you can’t blame me.”

After speaking, he began to prepare.

His kind of super-large laboratory requires meticulous preparation for each experiment.

Professor Feng’s students, as well as the guard team stationed there, all became busy.

Bai Yu also got busy with them and learned about the laboratory’s information.

Actually, he wanted to see if he could find any irregularities among the personnel, perhaps he could find them.

Unfortunately, he found no abnormalities.

Seeing this, he took advantage of a gap, walked to the scorched muddy ground at the corner of the office building, avoiding people’s sight, and took out his phone.

Using the satellite communication function, he began to compose a text message.

’Professor Feng here has developed a Thunder Spear, and recently, the laboratory has discovered traces of a blood clan modifier in the nearby area. When they did the Thunder Spear experiment just now, they even used this monster as a target.’

’In addition, Professor Feng today…’

After sending the text message, Bai Yu also sent some photos of the personnel he had taken, thinking: Can the analysis team detect any irregularities? For example, if someone has abnormal facial features, different from the original members, they might be a blood clan disguise or something.

After reporting, Bai Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

He had to admit, this kind of thing felt a bit like being a thief; his forehead was sweating!

Turning around, he walked to the corner, looked around, and no one was paying attention to him.

But just as he was about to leave, he looked down and saw footprints at this corner!

Due to the raised small gully in the soil, the footprints were not complete.

”Wait!!! These are not my footprints! And the angle of these footprints looks like they were looking at my back...”

He couldn’t help but feel a chill down his spine.

”Who was watching me from behind? And without making a sound! This isn’t right...”

Although they were very happy chatting, this was a critical experimental area. He was clearly being sneaky, so the person who saw him should have reacted, right? Or did they secretly report him?

”My actions this time were a bit careless.”

If this attack were to fail because of him...

He couldn’t help but slap his face, and a headache began.

This was the first time he had been so annoyed since his Transmigration.

But after calming down and thinking it over, even if the person watching him from behind was an insider, they might not have thought he had detected the plan in advance, right?

My spot wasn’t too hidden either; it didn’t look like I was sending secret messages.

The enemy deployed a considerable number of forces for this attack. Would they cancel the operation because of a small action? Probably not...

Professor Feng, Professor Wang Wen, and the upcoming thunder scepter were enough to lure them into action.

It was already an open scheme! Even if the other side detected an anomaly, they would probably still act, just with more thorough preparations.

”First, take a picture of the footprints and see if there’s any mud or anything stuck to them. Let’s find that guy quickly.”

”Of course, there’s also a possibility that I’m overthinking, and someone just looked from behind and has already gone to report.”

”Let’s wait and see...”

Walking into the crowd, Professor Wang Wen came over and quietly asked Bai Yu beside him, ”What did you go to the corner for, kid?”

Hearing this, Bai Yu’s heart stirred, and he said, ”There’s a secret mission within the team, so it’s inconvenient to say. Professor, please don’t mention it to anyone else.”

After speaking, he quickly asked, ”It seemed like someone went to that corner just now, secretly observing me. Professor, did you see who it was?”

”I only noticed you coming out from there and didn’t see what happened before. By the way, are you here for a secret mission, kid? Why don’t I believe you?”

”Professor Wang Wen can go back and ask Yang.”

Upon hearing Yang, Professor Wang Wen’s suspicions were somewhat alleviated.

Bai Yu thought to himself: ’I should have just openly used my phone to send the message. Going to the corner might not attract attention from others, but it’s easy to catch an insider’s eye.’

He couldn’t correct this mistake now, he could only avoid making it in the future.

However...

During the next hour or so of preparations, he didn’t hear anyone reporting him.

Nor did he find anyone whose foot’s mud matched the footprints.

His method of checking people’s shoe-bottom mud for investigation also didn’t work.

It wasn’t until around three in the afternoon that everything was ready, and the weather was also very cooperative.

Bai Yu and the others were in the control room building, quietly watching the scene outside.

Dark clouds hung overhead, and the sky was covered by a huge black curtain.

Everyone in the laboratory eagerly awaited the coming thunder storm.

First, the wire mesh slowly began to release electrical energy.

”Rumble rumble~”

A bolt of thunder instantly fell from the sky, like a long Dragon, rushing into the field.

Heavy rain fell.

Thunder rumbled, and lightning flashed.

As the lightning became more violent, large electric arcs flickered throughout the entire experimental field.

The scene was incredibly shocking!

Suddenly, another thick bolt of lightning struck down, pouring directly into the scepter.

This was like a fuse.

The next moment, seven bolts of lightning fell simultaneously, pouring into the scepter.

In the area enclosed by the wire mesh, violent electric arcs turned into electric snakes, converging towards the center and surging into the scepter.

The power consumption numbers on the side continuously rose.

1000, 3000, 8000...

Yet, the scepter showed no reaction!

Professor Feng couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Your scepter really has something special!”

Soon, the power consumption became faster and faster, and the entire experimental field was a blinding white, making it impossible to see the scene.

But according to the data monitoring, a large amount of thunder and lightning spiritual energy did indeed mysteriously disappear.

In a short while, the power consumption jumped to 100,000, 120,000, 150,000, 200,000, 300,000...

One could even see the wire mesh twisting and flickering.

Professor Feng frowned deeply. He was a strong-willed person; if his laboratory couldn’t even fill this thing, what was the point of playing around!

Fortunately, when the power consumption reached 360,000 kilowatt-hours, the thunder scepter finally reacted.

It floated in the air, seemingly guiding the surrounding power of thunder, like a monarch, making the violent lightning gentle and orderly.

A large number of strange inscriptions also appeared in the air.

Finally, the power consumption settled at 469,527 kilowatt-hours!

Looking at the perfectly formed scepter in the field, Professor Feng felt a little excited.

If it weren’t for the fact that the area outside the building was still in a lightning storm, he would have wanted to go out right now, pick up the scepter, and test its power.
