Gaowu invasion, I can see the future

15: Two strange things, extraordinary physiqueThe direction to the gym was the same as the seafood buffet restaurant mentioned earlier.

So, Zhang Youpeng took this opportunity to say he would treat Bai Yu to the meal he owed him.

The two quickly arrived at the restaurant and found a corner table.

As the hotpot boiled, plates of fresh ingredients were served, including high-grade beef, abalone, small lobsters, and more.

While the ingredients were still simmering in the pot, Bai Yu noticed that Zhang Youpeng had suddenly become much quieter, so he smiled and broke the silence, saying, ”Aren’t you usually quite talkative, kid? What’s wrong today? You’re acting as if we’ve grown distant.”

Zhang Youpeng was startled, then awkwardly scratched his head, adjusted his demeanor, glanced around, and said, ”Last night, while sleeping, I thought of two strange things.”

”Tell me about them,” Bai Yu became interested.

”The first one was three or four years ago, when I was still in my last year of high school. My dad, who drives a truck, went to Linshui City nearby to pick up goods.”

”He stayed overnight at a service area. My dad got up to use the restroom at night and heard strange noises, so he wanted to check it out. He said he saw a snow-white figure in the mountain forest, like a wolf, but much larger than a wolf, and he’d never heard of a white-furred wolf. When he tried to get closer, it vanished in the blink of an eye.”

Bai Yu’s heart stirred. If this was true, it might be a Spirit Beast from the mountains.

In the context of Spiritual Qi recovery, it was only natural for animals and plants to undergo mutations.

If Divine Beasts and Divine Trees were excavated in advance, the chances of success would undoubtedly increase.

”What about the other strange thing?”

”This strange thing happened at our company.”

Bai Yu was a bit surprised; he and Zhang Youpeng were interning together, so why didn’t he know?

”It’s something I chatted about with other colleagues for fun. It happened about three months ago.”

”At that time, something strange happened at the company. Every night around midnight, you could hear crying, or to be precise, a ’woo~ woo~ woo~’ sound.”

”As you know, many departments in our company work late, so there were still many people around at midnight. Many people followed the sound and searched everywhere, but they couldn’t find the source.”

”After three days of this, the company executives called the police. Once the police arrived, the crying stopped.”

”So, colleagues were discussing it, saying someone was playing a prank and stopped when the police showed up. But I feel it might have been a supernatural incident, and the Investigation Bureau took action.”

Seeing new customers picking up food nearby, Bai Yu nodded, then turned to ask about his roommate Wang Haobin’s situation: ”By the way, didn’t Wang Haobin say he was going back to school? When is he returning?”

”I asked him. He said his train ticket is for the night of the 18th, which is four days from now. Oh, and his girlfriend will also be returning to school.”

”Damn it! That kid isn’t just uncomfortable living at home; he’s clearly coming back to sleep together!”

”So, should we tell him?”

”Let’s see how he behaves when he gets back. If he’s too engrossed in his relationship, then forget it. After all, sometimes knowing too much can just create more psychological pressure.”

Bai Yu actually had something else on his mind that he didn’t say: Zhang Youpeng was the honest, persistent, and hardworking type.

Wang Haobin, on the other hand, probably couldn’t even stick with fitness, and he wasn’t as honest as Zhang Youpeng.

He wasn’t a charity worker; among his friends, he was only willing to help those who were willing to put in effort.

”Alright.”

”By the way, about the evening gala, has it been arranged?”

”It’s all set for the Friday after next, July 27th. Brother Yu, are you planning to go on stage?”

Bai Yu smiled but didn’t answer.

Although he didn’t say it aloud, he made a mental note of this gala, partly because of Zhang Youpeng’s mention of his ex-girlfriend.

He had seen that girl a few times after his Transmigration. Her name was Liu Ruoxi, and she had even acted in TV dramas, so she could be considered a minor celebrity.

At this year’s senior graduation gala, Liu Ruoxi sang a song on stage.

The atmosphere below the stage was electric.

She was definitely a campus beauty!

With his mindset at the time, he felt that if he could marry a girl like her, he would have no regrets in this life.

Bai Yu’s current focus was naturally on the supernatural world, and he didn’t have a strong desire for romance.

But then again, he was still a student, and wanting to pursue beautiful youth memories was only human nature.

They then started eating. Bai Yu’s appetite was clearly much larger; he ate ten plates of beef without feeling full.

Zhang Youpeng noticed the anomaly.

Recalling yesterday’s heavy rain, Bai Yu not answering his phone, and his skin suddenly becoming so fair today, along with his increased appetite.

All these circumstances indicated that Bai Yu was clearly not ordinary.

He even suspected that yesterday’s thunderstorm was caused by Bai Yu.

However, this kind of speculation could only be kept to himself.

Gym.

After verifying their information, Bai Yu and Zhang Youpeng were allowed to enter.

Through a brief conversation, they learned that the gym had previously been reported as a gay gathering because it only admitted people who understood the supernatural world, making it seem too mysterious.

The two were quickly led to the second floor, where a group of muscular men were sweating profusely.

These solid muscles and abs would make any man’s heart race.

A muscular man with a buzz cut and a small tattoo on his right wrist came to greet them.

He had a rough smile and a booming voice: ”I’m Wang Long. Which one of you is Bai Yu?”

”That would be me.”

Wang Long patted Bai Yu’s shoulder, squeezed the muscle on his arm, looking somewhat dissatisfied.

”It’ll probably take a lot of time to train your physique.”

After saying that, he squeezed Zhang Youpeng’s arm, his eyes lit up, and he said, ”This guy actually has some foundation.”

This made Zhang Youpeng a little embarrassed. When he was a child, he liked to ride in his father’s truck and helped move goods, so he had some strength.

However, this couldn’t help but ignite Bai Yu’s competitive spirit, or rather, his desire to show off. At the same time, he also wanted to see how much his strength, endurance, and other aspects had improved.

Anyway, he had already contacted the Investigation Bureau, and since he had already decided to reveal his abilities, it didn’t matter if he exposed a little bit of his strength here.

”Come on, let’s warm up first. I want to see your levels.”

Wang Long didn’t waste time and directly led them to warm up and test their levels.

As they tried various gym equipment, Zhang Youpeng gradually struggled, while Bai Yu was at ease.

Wang Long couldn’t help but squeeze Bai Yu’s arm. His muscles were indeed quite hard, but there weren’t many of them.

”Something’s off with you, kid. Have you trained before? Or eaten something good?”

After some thought, Wang Long took Bai Yu to the heavy-duty gym equipment.

The equipment here clearly exceeded that of a normal gym.

Bai Yu noticed the iron plates in the weightlifting area, each weighing 50 kilograms, and some people were effortlessly lifting eight plates.

The people here were not simple.

They arrived at the pull-testing machine, and Wang Long encouraged Bai Yu to try it.

Bai Yu was curious about his own strength and couldn’t help but ask, ”What’s the gym record?”

Wang Long smiled when he heard this.

The surrounding strong men also stopped their movements and gathered around.

”The record is 780KG, set by Old Qin,” the people around said, with pride in their voices.

Old Qin was a legendary figure here; it was said that he could punch a Vampire half to death.

As everyone was talking, a person walked over from a distance, with sharp eyes and a heroic, righteous appearance.

Bai Yu immediately felt that this was Zhou Gang!

And as expected, it was.

When Wang Long saw Zhou Gang, he enthusiastically went over and said a few words.

Zhou Gang became interested after hearing what happened. However, he glanced at Bai Yu’s fair skin, which clearly showed he hadn’t done any manual labor.

Wang Long: ”Try the pull test. I feel like your body might have some potential.”

Bai Yu felt a bit pressured seeing so many people gathered, so he let Zhang Youpeng go first.

He tried it, 89KG.

That was already quite good.

Seeing this, Bai Yu took a deep breath. He felt the food he ate at noon rapidly digesting, and his body’s strength became increasingly abundant.

He stepped forward, his feet on the resistance plate, took a deep breath, and slowly pulled backward.

At first, the people around were just watching for fun, but as the numbers on the dynamometer kept climbing, they started to take it seriously.

80...100...120...150!

When it reached 150, the crowd instantly became lively.

One must know that before the Spiritual Qi recovery, fitness enthusiasts generally ranged from 100 to 150KG, and professionals were usually around 200.

”What’s going on? Has he trained?”

”Looking at his muscle lines, it doesn’t seem like brute force.”

”This kid must have eaten Spirit Medicine!”

”An Awakened?”

At this moment, Bai Yu also felt a bit strained, but he gritted his teeth and pulled back as much as possible.

170...180...200!

He had originally planned to stop at this value, but he still gave his all and pulled to 226.
