Doupo: Rebirth of Gu He, Starting with a Strategy to Win Over Yun Yun

Chapter 9: Healing Yunyun”You... you’re awake?” Gu He was momentarily stunned, then spoke with a natural ease.

”You were injured, and it looks quite serious. I just fed you a spring return pill and was about to help apply some medicinal powder.”

He paused, his expression relaxing slightly. ”It’s good that you’re awake.”

Yun Yun knit her willow-leaf brows; the pain in her chest didn’t grant her a moment’s respite.

Gu He’s manner was frank and generous, so she didn’t think twice about it.

”I didn’t expect that beast to know such a powerful Seal, cough cough...!” Yun Yun couldn’t help but let out a light cough.

Gu He quickly took a handkerchief from his storage ring and held it to her lips.

As terrifying clotted blood was coughed up, Yun Yun realized her entire body was almost paralyzed and immobile; speaking was already her limit.

”I didn’t expect that even after reaching Three-star Dou Huang, I would still be no match for the Amethyst Winged Lion King. I was too careless and ended up involving you.”

Yun Yun lay on a soft cloak, her beautiful eyes shimmering with an indescribable guilt as she stared intently at Gu He.

”Between friends, there’s no such thing as being ’involved.’ The most important thing now is to treat your wound,” Gu He said in a worried tone.

Yun Yun was unable to circulate her Dou Qi, and her body was paralyzed by the sealing technique. Even using all her strength, she couldn’t sit up.

After her failed attempt, Yun Yun turned her head away somewhat shyly. ”Gu He, why don’t you help me apply the medicine?”

”I’ve been hit by a sealing technique and can’t move.”

Gu He was slightly taken aback. ”Me? But your injury is on...”

Yun Yun finally turned her head back, her beautiful eyes looking at Gu He. Her pearly teeth lightly bit her lip, and her voice was low and soft:

”I only trust you here.”

”My wound can’t wait too long. It would be more convenient if you did it. I’m not some overly sensitive person...”

”Besides, you wouldn’t take advantage of me, would you?” Yun Yun teased gently, as if making a joke.

Gu He was stunned for a moment, then gave a firm guarantee, ”I won’t.”

His brief and concise words gave Yun Yun immense comfort, making her feel incredibly at ease.

Gu He took a dagger from his storage ring and gently cut away the fabric around Yun Yun’s injury, revealing a light blue metallic inner armor beneath.

A hideous claw mark was clearly visible on it. The strength of the Rank 6 Amethyst Winged Lion King was not small; it hadn’t even intended for Yun Yun to leave Soul Severing Ravine alive.

If not for the protection of the inner armor, Yun Yun’s injuries would likely have been far worse.

Gu He pursed his lips and reminded her warmly, ”Next, I’m going to remove your inner armor...”

Yun Yun suddenly closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling slightly.

She stopped looking at Gu He, her heart seemingly fluttering with unease.

However, she didn’t scold or stop him. Instead, she intentionally relaxed her body’s tension, as if responding to Gu He’s words and agreeing to something.

”Mm...”

Her face was as pale as paper, yet a moving blush surfaced amidst that pallor.

Inexplicably, it looked very much like uncontrollable shyness and anticipation.

She wasn’t entirely indifferent to intimate contact.

After all, letting a man see her body was something no woman could easily accept.

Yet, she found it hard to feel any resistance toward Gu He.

Was it because Gu He was different?

His every action and every word made her feel a sense of tenderness and respect she had never experienced before.

If it were anyone else, she would probably have resisted with all her might...

Facing such a beautiful sight, Gu He’s expression remained unchanged, showing no sign of being distracted by improper thoughts.

Only he knew how fast the heart on the left side of his chest was beating.

”Yun Yun, I’m going to sprinkle the medicinal powder now,” Gu He said calmly, taking a deep breath and suppressing his desires.

As the saying goes, one must know when to stop and how to control one’s desires.

Now was not the time for that! The conquest mission was the priority!

”Mm.”

Gu He gently sprinkled the powder. The white powder touched the red blood scabs.

”Hiss~” Yun Yun let out a sharp intake of breath from the pain.

She, who was usually cold and seemingly forged of iron and blood, grabbed Gu He’s other sleeve with her jade-like hand, clenching it until it wrinkled.

Gu He continued to sprinkle the powder, but his movements became even more careful. ”Does it hurt a lot?”

Yun Yun’s voice was very low, seemingly softening as she exhaled like an orchid: ”I can bear it...”

Her soft gasps brushed past Gu He’s ears like a feather.

Seeing this, Gu He couldn’t help but blow on her wound, instinctively thinking this would ease her pain.

Yun Yun was stunned, her eyelashes trembling. Her cheeks then flushed red, but she didn’t speak to stop him.

The scene of spring-like beauty was like a white magnolia covered in morning dew...

Gu He was not one to dawdle. After finishing the treatment, he quickly took a clean cloak and covered Yun Yun’s body.

”Is it done?” Feeling the movement, Yun Yun slowly opened her eyes. Her long eyelashes fluttered, revealing eyes like shimmering stars.

”It’s done.” Gu He nodded.

Yun Yun felt a comfortable, icy coolness after the pain of the wound. Her pale lips parted slightly,

”Thank you, Gu He.”

”Fortunately you came with me, otherwise... I really can’t imagine what would have happened.”

Her face bore a blush she hadn’t even noticed, like drunken clouds at sunset, exceptionally beautiful.

Gu He gave a faint smile. ”It’s what I should do.” He paused. ”I’ll head out for a bit to see if there’s any fresh food. If there is, I’ll bring it back to prepare.”

Yun Yun’s eyes showed apology. ”I’ve troubled you.”

Gu He helped tuck her cloak. ”You’ve lost too much blood and need nourishment. Besides, I’ve said it before: we’re friends, there’s no need to say thank you every day.”

The corners of Yun Yun’s lips curled slightly with a hint of tenderness: ”Mm.”

Gu He turned and left. In a place where Yun Yun couldn’t see, his footsteps were slightly erratic.

Outside the cave.

Gu He first calmed his surging heart and lower body before starting to check the rewards from the conquest System.

That’s right, he had heard the System’s reward notification inside the cave, but because he was focused on Yun Yun’s injury, he hadn’t checked it immediately.

Now he was finally free.

[Ding! The target’s favorability toward the host has increased by 11%! Reward obtained: ’Heaven Rank Elementary Secret Technique: Sky Transformation’!]

[’Heaven Rank Elementary Secret Technique: Sky Transformation’: This secret technique has extraordinary explosive power and can significantly increase the user’s strength for a short duration. It is based on fire; the more Beast Fires and Heavenly Flames you possess, the greater the strength increase in a short time!]

[Target’s favorability toward the host: 61%.]

The conquest progress jumped by 11% all at once!!

The System had said before that the later the stage, the slower the progress, but this general rule didn’t seem to apply to Gu He!

Gu He was both surprised and delighted, then began to examine the secret technique given by the System.

Sky Transformation draws upon the power of the heavens, the earth, and the primordial universe. Cultivated to its depths, it can cause the sky itself to change color. Not only is it a Heaven Rank Elementary Secret Technique, but it can also continuously grow.

Moreover, it made up for the combat explosive power he currently lacked most!

He was currently at the Peak of Seven-star Dou Wang. Combined with various Dou Techniques, he was already capable of fighting Two or Three-star Dou Huangs without being at a disadvantage.

Now, with the addition of a Heaven Rank level secret technique like Sky Transformation, his combat strength was enough to rival Six or Seven-star Dou Huangs!

Even if the Amethyst Winged Lion King stood before him now, he could fight a hearty battle!
