Quick Transmigration: The Host is Forced to Love!

64: The Noble Young Master’s Benefactor 6Looking at Mu Lin like this, the corner of Lu Zhan’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch. The words ”Brother Lin” falling on his ears seemed to stir up some distant memories. His brow furrowed slightly, but he didn’t argue.

”Mm, I understand.”

His tone was indifferent, carrying a hint of nonchalance.

Mu Lin knew the other party hadn’t taken the matter to heart and that the casual remark earlier might have just been on a whim. He didn’t say more to avoid annoying him further.

”Can I come in and sit for a while?”

Lu Zhan had an unreadable smile on his face. He didn’t refuse directly but spoke tactfully.

”It’s too late today. Let’s do it another day.”

Mu Lin checked the time; it was indeed quite late, and it wouldn’t be right to disturb him further. So he nodded and followed up.

”Then can I come find you tomorrow?”

Lu Zhan thought for a moment. This afternoon, Song Shu had called him and invited him to get together tomorrow.

Although Song Shu was also an A-rank Omega, his personality was not delicate. During the time they spent together, it was mostly Song Shu who looked after him, unilaterally tolerating all of his bad temper.

Even during the three years he spent abroad, Song Shu never lost contact with him, and they frequently spoke on the phone. Now, the other man’s career was flourishing, making him a rising star in the business world of Magic City.

He hadn’t seen Song Shu in three years; he couldn’t turn him down.

Thinking of this, Lu Zhan shook his head slightly. ”I have plans with someone tomorrow.”

A sense of crisis immediately rose in Mu Lin. Plans with someone? Who? Was that comment earlier not just a whim? In these three years, had an Omega really gotten close to Lu Zhan?

”Who is it? Are you guys close?”

Even though he was dying of anxiety inside, he still tried his best to maintain a steady and gentle tone.

”Mu Lin, is there some kind of relationship between us? Who are you to me? Why, do I need to report everything to you?”

”Didn’t you just agree...”

Before he could finish, Mu Lin seemed to suddenly realize something. Lu Zhan hadn’t actually agreed to anything. There was no relationship between them now; it had always been his own wishful thinking.

”Lu Zhan, I’m just worried about you.”

Various thoughts flashed through his mind, but in the end, he could only say this one weak sentence.

”Mu Lin, you’re overthinking it. If there’s nothing else, you can leave now.”

It was about time. It was almost his usual bedtime, and Lu Zhan didn’t want to be entangled with Mu Lin any longer.

Feeling Lu Zhan’s coldness and impatience, Mu Lin felt a pain in his heart as if it were being shredded. He also clearly realized how hurtful his own attitude toward Lu Zhan had been back then.

He knew in his heart that nothing could be rushed and that he needed to take things slowly; otherwise, it would only make Lu Zhan more repulsed. So he smiled gently, his eyes overflowing with a bit of love, and leaned his body slightly closer.

”It’s Brother Lin who was overthinking. In that case, Brother Lin will come again another day, alright?”

His tone was soft and coaxing, with a slightly seductive rhetorical question.

Lu Zhan felt slightly uneasy. He raised his hand and pushed the man away directly, feeling that this person had no shame left and was being quite a rogue.

”Got it,” he said, then shut the door directly.

Mu Lin stood at the door without moving, as if looking at the person inside through the door. The expression in his eyes was complex and hard to decipher. After several shifts, it finally turned back to calm.

No matter what, he would never let anyone snatch Lu Zhan away from him. A dangerous cold light flickered in his eyes. He took one deep look before slowly turning around and leaving the place with steady steps.

...

The next afternoon, after Lu Zhan finished getting ready, he took his keys and went out. Following his agreement with Song Shu, he arrived at the appointed place.

It was a restaurant with a very tasteful decor. Although not luxurious, it had a certain elegance that made people feel very comfortable.

When he walked in, he saw that Song Shu was already there waiting for him.

A personality as gentle as jade and a delicate, handsome face—this had always been Lu Zhan’s impression of Song Shu.

Seeing him again today, aside from a faint hint of authority from being in a high position, it seemed the other man hadn’t changed much from before. He was still the same as in his memories.

Lu Zhan’s eyes were soft, and a gentle smile appeared on his cold face.

”Song Shu, it’s been a long time. You look even more charming!”

From the moment Lu Zhan walked in, Song Shu’s eyes had been fixed on him, never looking away. His heart was filled with excitement and joy, and his eyes were full of a spark of excitement.

”Lu Zhan, you’re finally back. I missed you very much.”

Song Shu knew some things about Lu Zhan’s past, but he had been powerless. The Mu Family’s influence was too great.

But now that so much time had passed, what should be forgotten was mostly forgotten, and his own career had also started to take off.

He wanted to give it a try and invite Lu Zhan back to be an investment consultant for his company. He hadn’t expected Lu Zhan to actually agree, and he had been so happy he couldn’t sleep for several days. He couldn’t help but have some expectations—did this mean Lu Zhan was starting to feel a bit differently toward him?

”Mm, I’m not leaving again. Thanks for thinking of me.”

Lu Zhan’s cold face softened a bit, and a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes. He raised his hand and gently patted the other’s shoulder, just as he used to.

”We haven’t seen each other in three years, and you’re brushing me off like this? It’s not right to not give me a hug. Pity my sincere heart has been misplaced.”

Song Shu’s face slumped, and his gaze toward Lu Zhan was a bit resentful. His expression had a hint of deliberate play-acting.

Lu Zhan couldn’t help but chuckle, but he still opened his arms generously.

”It’s just a hug. Come, let your brother give you one.”

This was the person he had a crush on for many years but didn’t dare to confess to. How could Song Shu resist? He immediately leaned in for the hug. In a place where Lu Zhan couldn’t see, Song Shu’s face was exceptionally joyful, and his eyes were filled with a touch of love.

Lu Zhan wasn’t awkward either. He gave the other a hug without any extra emotion and then gently pushed him away.

Song Shu had already adjusted his expression. His eyes were slightly red, but his face was filled with the joy of a reunion after a long separation.

”Alright, it’s not like we won’t see each other again. Besides, we’re going to be working together. Just don’t find me annoying when the time comes.”

Lu Zhan noticed Song Shu’s emotions and teased him with a few jokes.

”How could that be? If I really thought you were annoying, I would have cut ties with you in college. With that cold face and bad temper of yours, who could stand it?”

Song Shu retorted, his gentle eyes tinged with a bit of a smile, though he pretended to be unhappy with a stiff face.

Lu Zhan felt a bit embarrassed. He raised his hand to touch his nose and gave a sheepish laugh.

”Well, don’t I still have you? Others are just common folk who can’t see my good points.”

The words, carrying a bit of a pleasing tone, fell on his ears, and Song Shu’s whole being became a bit more joyful. His feigned anger couldn’t be maintained for even a second.

”That’s for sure. The food here is pretty good. Give it a try.”

As Song Shu spoke, he picked up the menu and handed it to Lu Zhan.
